Usually you sit with your manager and go through all the recorded material for the album, you narrow down a final track list and then the manager and marketing team are essentially the people that choose the single

Rarely is it all the artist's say and the execs don't have the time to go through all these songs for one album

Would Iovine sit there and listen to the high volume of music the artists are always producing? No

This seems like the likely process - but gurl, none of us know anything about the way Interscope works with Gaga. She's probably their biggest artist. I'd imagine everything she does and puts out is first put in front of the execs, and this case Lovine.

If anything Vince Herbert was more responsible being A&R and executive producer

A&R is responsible for scouting new talent, getting them signed and then overseeing everything the artist does up until the album release

I'd say they walked into his office with a few tracks for him to consider and then he might have suggested one or two he wanted to be a lead single or something

John Janick was named president and CEO of Interscope Records after the recent departure Jimmy Iovine. John, who started on an indie label, has claimed to be a big fan of Lady Gaga. In interviews last year, before taking office, he said he had built a strong relationship with Gaga during the recording process and talking with her regularly.
" Gaga finished her album [ARTPOP] recently and is spectacular, she is such a talented person. Has so much diversity on the album, it all fits together."

I saw this the other day I don´t think we have to worry

I remember when gaga used to have the best people in her team, but she has been losing all of them throughout the years  :noparty:

My Favs = Lady Gaga, Janet Jackson, Ricky Martin, AKB48

So is this good for the future of Gaga's singles?

Ms Gaga is still one their biggest moneymakers, at least touring-wise. John is a smart guy. But knowing Gaga, she has to be able to listen and work with someone other than Jimmy now, and she doesn't always take direction well.

Bad news. He signed Gaga. He supported Gaga. Now he's gone, Interscope new CEO might think Gaga is no longer deserving of huge investments, considering the underwhelming commercial performance of ARTPOP and GaGa's unprofessional addictions to d--gs, food or whatever. If you want to stay relevant in pop music you need DISCIPLINE…. and gaga has none….. DISCIPLINE in pop music in much more important than a powerful voice if you want to stay on top and fight all challenges you have to face...

See Madonna: 30 years on top thanks to her rigid discipline….Yes she's charismatic, she is s-xy but most of all she is DISCIPLINED. That's what helped her to be the strong powerful legendary woman she is now.

Right cuz climbing your way up performing in every night club in New York and crafting music that the underground deemed too pop, the pop world deemed too theater and theater deemed not theater enough and getting your first three albums nominated for album of the year in a row and performing over 300 shows in three years around the world to the point that you literally BREAK your hip on stage at the age of 27...not very disciplined.

Discipline means to be in control… ….no matter what….

discipline, drive, lack of self-destructive tendencies  is exactly what you need if you want to be on top for a long time...

Athletes win only if they are disciplined

If you want to perform over 300 shows - with heavy dance routines- for three years, you must be DISCIPLINED in taking care of your body : no d--gs, no smoking, healthy diet and constant workout…. ….that's the only way to avoid or at least reduce the chance to get injured

Am I the only one happy about this...I feel that Interscope has been toxic for Gaga and him leaving will most likely be the best for her :manicure:

Stop. Jimmy Iovine isn't the entire record label in itself. He's supported Gaga for years and is the one who signed her. So once again stop.

He's the co founder of the label...he's got a HUGE impact on the decisions regarding her career...including her single choices :awkney:

Just cuz he supported her doesn't mean he made the best decisions when it came to the BTW and ARTPOP era...:tea:

I get that he's the co-founder, but you being all happy and chipper about his exit in her career isn't cool. He supported her since 2008 and she's specifically noted his importance in her career. And just because he "didn't make the best choices" doesn't mean Gaga didn't appreciate him as much as she did, or that he wasn't positively significant in her career.

I can have my opinions about his leaving Interscope...k

Did I ever say Gaga didn't appreciate him?

I'm just hoping for a fresh start from Interscope and I hope it's a better situation for Gaga

Understandable. Tbh just scared that something bad might happen so I'm getting defensive. Although his departure from the record label is already decided so my b---hing does nothing.
