We had the Applause music video, the Marina Abramovic thing, etc.. and then we had the November 11th artRAVE which showcased her art film and all the inventions the Haus made for ARTPOP including the fiber optic wig, Volantis, and the Cypher dress. Gaga even posted her paintings on Little Monsters. Then we got the artRAVE. It doesn't seem right. There's no theatrics, no inventions... It doesn't seem to match the aspect of ARTPOP. Willy Wonka 4 Posted May 24, 2014 Share Posted May 24, 2014 I'm going to say this: I don't think artRave matches what she wanted ARTPOP to be about, but I think that artRave matches the music perfectly. Does that make any sense? I don't think the music was ever the correct vehicle for the artistic message she was attempting to put forward. To me, it was like trying to pin broccoli on a cat. They just didn't go together! The art she wanted to do and the music she made didn't go together. The artRave and the music go together so well. So yeah, I wish we could've seen more of a classical art theme, but I think the tour aesthetic is perfect for the music, and I'm happy with that. I do wish that there was a storyline though. It's what seperated Gaga from Katy, Rihanna, etc. in every single interview she talks about how she's so theater and she's had a storyline every single tour up until this one. Not everything needs a storyline, and majority of people who went to the show loved it. I get the no art thing but in itself, artrave is a major party that I would be stoked to attend again.
