ARTPOP or Prism more pretentious?

Let's be real...the co-writers are the producing rights. Gaga does this out of her kindness and appreciation...she doesn't have to. Not that they "wrote" anything and even if they did it was very small.

The amount of writers for such a basic song as Roar is amazing to me...the way I see it...Katy probably comes up with the concept/topic/theme and the writers work around that, so the credits say the origin of the song came from Katy. Regardless of how people want to bash Gaga's writing skills, at least she writes her own songs. People will never take that away from her. That's what makes the music more raw and personal.

I just don't get what makes you think katy writes any less than gaga does! Lmfao she had three solo writes on her first album and even more on her first Christian album. She started as a singer-SONGWRITER, but now that she's a pop star she's not a songwriter anymore?

It's a delusional to think as doesn't wrote the majority of her music

Does Katy ever express how much she loves to write music? Does she go into detail as to how much she writes?

Uhhhhhhhhhh lol I can't tell if you're trolling or not? Countless co-writers and producers of Katy's (Greg wells, jonatha brook, juicy j, Lacey musgraves, the co-producer of firework) have all said how much of the idea, lyrics, and melody she comes into the process with, and I'm not gonna bother searching for them, you can if you want. Just don't be ignorant by saying se doesn't write anything, because that's just a stupid comment that doesn't have any legitimate ground.

Saying she doesn't write WELL (opinion) is a different story; but saying she doesn't write AT ALL (fact) is just silly.

You can believe what you want, of course, it's just sorta funny haha :)

ARTPOP is pretentious by definition because she is basically telling people that her music is kind of above the rest instead of letting the music speak for itself. Like someone saying "look at me! look at me! Im an artist". At some point people say "we get it, you're an artist" and it seems really forced.

I don't look at it that way.  I think Gaga came up with a concept of building an era with an artistic theme and she genuinely believes in it.  A love of art has always been part of Gaga's heart and soul, and she thought it was time to highlight art in a pop music venue.  It has nothing to do with claiming she is better than anyone or claiming her music is above the rest.  People read too much into the term "ARTPOP".  It's just a name to signify that the theme of this era is about art.

I live outside the space time continuum.

It's viewed as "pretentious" because ARTPOP is just "pop" without any of the art she promised (yes, the art is in the visuals) but it's still no excuse as to why the album has some of her worst lyrics to date.

At least Katy showcased artistic growth on PRISM.

THIS!

You all need to stop saying comparing the 2, is like comparing a Leonardo Da Vinci's paint to a kinder garden drawing... when that's clearly not true.

I like ARTPOP better too, but it's still plain POP music with no many deep lyrics or innovative sounds!

edit: you see what I mean...

Well, it´s like comparing Picasso to a two-years-old kid´s drawing on the wall :toofunny:

not really, we all love Gaga and ARTPOP but stop the delusion please!  :toofunny:

ARTPOP - Some great songs, but ultimately generic sounding as a full album and not living up to its name.

Prism - Boring, with a couple of highlights, and like someone trying to be deep instead of making you FEEL their emotions on too many songs.

Neither lived up to the artist's hype.

I know... sometimes I think I can read stans' minds the same way they read Katy's and Gaga's while they songwrite!  :toofloppy:

To me neither is pretentious at all, but the way Gaga presented the album was pretentious.

She acted that way for some very important moments. It was offputting and felt disingenuous when she would answer questions. As if she was trying to recreate her mystique(goseex-menthisweekend) she had during TF, but once it's gone, it's gone. I think the tour is fantastic, because she doesn't seem like she's trying to push a certain persona.

Prism: Pretentious in that it's made to panders to the charts? Yeah, I guess so.

Still, I understand what you're saying, but to not recall KATY HERSELF talking about writing is interesting... Yet everyone around her speaks for her on the topic
