Brandon 457
It is not EDM lol. Pop and maybe with EDM influences.
SKANK 14,288
Pop isn't a specific sound, pop stands for popular. Billie Holiday, a jazz vocalist, made pop music. ARTPOP is an EDM record, whether EDM purists would like to admit it or not.

lodylody 1,746
Gaga's original vision was much more ravey and EDM sounding. PARTYNAUSEOUS, High Princess, Tinnitus, Swine, etc. fit that theme much more. Let's not forget that there were so many songs that didn't make it onto the album that probably were much more experimental than those that did. Those songs were probably the true ARTPOP, and the basis for the album being considered EDM. We haven't heard Tinnitus
gagarunner 0
EDM abbreviation for "Electronic Dance Music" - includes trance, house, techno, breakbeat, gabber, hardcore, and much, much more. Aura, Swine, Mary Jane Holland, Donatella, G.U.Y., Venus, Sexxx Dreams, Do WHat U Want, even fashion! is considered edm, applause, the only songs that arent really edm : ARTPOP and dope EDM is much more than what you're used to, selfies and turn down for what are EDM, but there is different kinds of music, EDM is really just a general term its like a big box that contains other subgenres, like Trap, Trance, House, Dubstep..... ARTPOP (song) is like psychedelic trance.

hmm 979
Well Stache is from Zedd's album clarity which explains why it's "proper" EDM. Aura is def EDM since its instrumental is basically Infected Mushrooms and swine too. The others I suppose it depends on your personal definition of EDM. I love Animals (as well as Wizard and Helicopter) but they really wouldn't work well with vocals over them imo I don't really think it would've affected its popularity or charting position though either... gagarunner 0
All I'll say to everyone is listen to the album instrumental. (Even though by now, it's impossible to not sing along) if I never heard any of the lyrics, i would've thought it was a made by a total EDM artist. Anomaly 159
We haven't heard Tinnitus Yet it's been described, plus the name of the song alone implies that it will be a hardcore EDM/rave track. It's kind of obvious, if you ask me. Gaga hinted that Onion Girl would be a crazy song too, but I didn't add that one to the list because it's not as obvious. It could easily be more of a pop song than anything and still be good, but Tinnitus is definitely going to be an EDM track. You don't need to hear it to know that. artRaver 3,188
ARTPOP is considered an EDM album because that's exactly what it is. EDM doesn't just mean electro there's many sub-genres within it, lol. ✿ cherry blossom girl ✿

Wouldn't it be interesting if (before the album dropped, or she could drop it like this if she chose...) Gaga release the instrumentals first and foremost, like these EDM producers do as "singles". Just the instrumental and allow it to settle in and see how it does and the responses it receives, and then a week or two later, release the version with lyrics for download (or your library automatically updates the song to the lyrical version). She could do it for all consecutive singles released before the album, or even do an entire album like that. It'd kind of be like a teaser, to build hype by the sound alone, and then she plops the unheard lyrics right on top.
RyanBall 1
ARTPOP happens to be Pop/Dance, that's also got Electronic elements. There are so many 'umbrella' genres it could be classed under, although not every song has that EDM feel.
