Ladey Gagz 2,512
um, yes itunes. itunes matters. and you're harping on that anyway because? I think any song she would have released would've gone #1 on iTunes as it is Lady Gaga releasing a new lead single. And embarassing on your part stating that Applause didn't even reach #1 on iTunes
Retep 0
DWUW would've worked since she could've backed it on all the flack she received and had that open the VMA's, then Applause around the albums release for her coming back, then ?, and end on Gypsy. I just can't see the GP loving and accepting Venus like we have personally. Applause was still a solid choice though!

blacklistedd 599
I think any song she would have released would've gone #1 on iTunes as it is Lady Gaga releasing a new lead single. And embarassing on your part stating that Applause didn't even reach #1 on iTunes Did you not read my posts? Applause didn't go #1 on itunes first of all. Its not embarassing to say so, im only saying it because my point being DWUW would have surpassed Applause's success as the lead single, not just because its the lead single but because its one of her smartest and best singles in ages and would have been a more successful start to the era. Not that Applause was not successful in its own right. But im saying Do What U Want would have been more successful. Unfortunately people and the media made up their minds about Gaga this era post-lead single and nothing she could release afterwards was going to amount to much because people do not want to consume her. Thats why a pop song as good as Do What U Want didn't even go Top 10. Its a bit of a travesty but its a reflection of how shes received these days. tokyodisko 0
Venus would have been a good introductory into the era. I think it's more of what Gaga had in mind. Plus it would have not have been compared to Roar as much, because the theme was not the same, like it was in Applause/Roar. Releasing it at the same time was a poor choice either way.
