Madonna called her "reductive", mockingly covered "Born This Way" on the MDNA Tour as a mash up with "Express Yourself" (in which the graphics on the screen were of a cartoon "Gaga Monster" eating canned versions of Madonna's iconography). Not to mention that Lady Gaga had said time and time again that Madonna is one of her role models and she looks up to her. And Madonna, of course, returns the favor by trying to return to the public eye by starting a media frenzy by being incredibly shady on a rather big television interview. This is a shady tweet that people will probably forget about in a few months time. Madonna's shadiness and, honestly, bullying has left a stamp on Gaga's career. It's not just the comparison. It was a whole. Along with the BTW cover at the MDNA Tour. Madge wasn't letting it go, you could tell she was jealous and bitter af about Gaga's success. Sonically, the whole MDNA album was her coming for Gaga's weave. On the other hand, I don't think Gaga has any reason to be jealous of Katy. I actually think she doesn't really give a **** about her, tbh. If anything, her tweet was a comment about how pop culture's constantly recycling the ideas of others. She is perfectly capable of messing up, and tbh I think she did this time. I think there's nothing wrong with calling her out when she makes a mistake, but it's important to keep in mind that she has proven to be genuine about spreading kindness, and that this is uncharacteristic of her.
