I mean, it was moving from #20 to #10 and back on the iTunes chart USA for like 1 month and without  any promo. I really think it would gone #1 at BH if she released the video. Or at least top 5. The song was popular and it was at the best time to putting the music video out.

Do you think it would gone  #1? If no, where? So sad we didn't get the video.. I hope we will see it in the future.  :(

With the initial release, had she not had the unfortunate shortcoming of needing to shoot an entire music video in a short period of time, it would've eventually gone #1 with a video release and the level of promo it was receiving in October-December if you ask me. Definitely top 3 at least in the U.S.

I don't think the video would have made it number one but it could have gone top ten with it. Also it had loads of promo, tons of performances, beats commercial, remixes it even did ok on radio for a while.

I think there was just too much mess with the release and the R Kelly backlash didn't help.

I remember there was a window when the MV could have pushed it into the top ten and possibly caused it to blow up.

We all thought the video would come out then. I think it was like a week after the AMA's or something, would have been the perfect time.

Yes. Applause was a good choice, but DWUW would've been a better choice by tenfold. "Art in pop culture in me koons art marina applause" was.... a turn off, to say the least. DWUW was a perfectly relatable tune that people can instantly say, "Yup. That's classic Gaga. She's back." Plus with her Xtina-esque vocals that the GP haven't heard from her before...I swear, this era would be completely different if she had gone that route.

I never understood that. It was the beginning of the era. What made her feel like she needed to rush?

EDIT: Omg, I thought this was asking if DWUW should've been the lead single. :megaflop: nvm

Well yes i think if things werent so messy around that time it would gone 1 or atleast top 3. DWUW should have been planed as the 2nd single from the begining with a radio deal on the release day. Then she should have sung it on the youtube music awards instead of dope. Also peform it on Ellen when she was there. Also the video should have came out the day after American music awards.

If things were done this way i think it would have gone atleast top 3.

It were also a song i heard many non gaga fans listen to and many of my friends who dont like her normally liked the song.

I think there were a lot of variables at work behind the scenes that we were not aware of. I think she had a video idea that was exactly what she wanted but it was: a) too long, b) too controversial, c) someone important didn't like it. I also think she was coerced by management to get a video out as fast as possible.
