I would thought her mom or her mom's relative was once victims of ruthless caning and more to ever introduce it to younger generation that is her child who is living in new age. You know in this particular example I don't think it's ignorance or anything. This generation is the first generation where social media like Facebook is a thing. Most 15 year olds are naïve when it comes to sending nudes or posting messages that aren’t appropriate. If you warn them that this might stick forever, that’s so abstract, forever is a long time but also “empty†as a reference. Neither do they worry about a possible employer that years later might background check them and find things that can damage your reputation. Add to that parents being totally unaware of the impact of social media nor being involved with them at all and you have a potentially dangerous/damaging situation. I can think of far worse things that deserve punishment, mother should be ashamed of herself for ridiculing and beating her daughter then posting the video. I feel it’s my generations (the 30-40 year olds) responsibility to keep up with the changes in technology (keep in mind we grew up without mobile phones, internet, digital cameras etc) to make sure we keep our kids as safe as possible when it comes to the new acclaimed digital territories. Its different when you say that when you are in your 30s and different when I say that when I am only 18. I am a part of this generation and I can see some things from inside. Today kids have s-x from 12, just look at the thread above. They have lost their purity, their childish smile has banished. How would you feel if your daughter lost purity on 12 and only cared to post her nudes on Facebook, wouldn't you feel guilty? I've seen so many girls in my school changing boyfriends day by day (that they also had s-xual relationships with) when they were only 14. Human relationships and love are decaying. Divorces have increased rapidly, people don't care to fight about love anymore or for their other half, with the first difficulty they give up. I've seen kids that have no interest about anything, lost. I've felt the decay of music for first hand. People don't sing about anything else than partying and ****ing anymore, like there is nothing worth fighting for anymore. I've seen so many people living through internet. If you look at the previous generations you will notice that we are in a moral decay. Our parents lived in different times and difficult times and they tried to give us all the things they couldn't have and that backfired. Now our generation is on the opposite direction and the wheel will turn again, because we have lived all this decay and lost of control we will move to the opposite direction and become strict with our children. Action and reaction. You see things from a differenet point of view. From an older generation and from the eyes of a mother. You were never hit with a belt It's not traumatizing trust me I know I mean, she did hit her a little hard..... a little too hard, I got hit with the belt when I was little. But my mom and dad would hit me like, 4 times, or something. and nothing like that. Although that was like, 6 minutes of torture, But, it's not abuse. Some of my old teachers were disciplined as kids 10x harder than this, (or so they'd say lol.) So, I don't think this is actual torture, or abuse. Maybe borderline since, she hit her rather hard and she hit her all over her body, instead of just her ass or back. My parents never did that, they didn't want me to have bruisers or get hurt. So, I can get why people are all offended by this, never looks attractive to see anyone getting beat. Oh and the putting it on ****ing Facebook, that's messed up. Now the mom needs beat. Fusel 1,111 Posted April 25, 2014 Share Posted April 25, 2014 (edited) No matter if people claim that violence taught them discipline, the end does not justify the means, because there are a lot of other ways to discipline a child, but I guess if you're a lazy, irresponsible person not capable of educating a child without frightening them with physical pain, then I guess you start hurting your kids I'm not saying it can't be difficult to raise a child, but life is not always easy, you can't just go around and punch someone if you don't know how to handle something. I don't know about the legal situation in the US, but in Germany it's a crime & that's the way it should be. It does not matter if the mother did that because she loves her child or wants to protect her with that. She's hurting her daughter's rights.
