migamiga 12,101
Umm... well yeah, people don't want to pay $16 for a digital album. When they cut the price by over 50%, more people will obviously be willing to buy it. That's like... how discounts work? If the discount had nothing to do with it, it would've been at #16 this whole time The simple fact is, once the discount is over, ARTPOP will return back to its old place... outside of the top 50, maybe even top 100? Whereas other albums such as Prism and Bangerz will stay in the top 50 because people actually like them. I know how discounts work.... I just didn't expect it to have an effect on ARTPOP's sales cause it seemed like people weren't interested in the music
Ladle Ghoulash 23,831
The goal has always been to just get the music into as many hands and ears as possible. Discount or not, can't we just be happy that there has been a fairly significant increase in interest of ARTPOP? If anything, the fact that the discounted price encouraged people to buy the album shows me that the content of the album (at least as far as iTunes is concerned) wasn't necessarily the biggest turn-off, but, rather, paying $15 for a digital album. We have forgotten our public MANNERS
Dr Rogoe 23
US ARTPOP sales are around 670,000 (approx). Not even a million of Gaga's millions of American fans bought the album. Worldwide the sales were 1.7 or 2.7 million and what's the difference TBH? Fact is less than 3 million people world wide bought the album. There's the demand right there. AND IT'S OK! I don't know why there is no middle ground between delusional optimism or bitter and twisted negativity. Gaga is fine! The sales are fine! Her tour will be amazing! People nowadays don't "buy" music anymore. And album prizes are quiet high in other countries tbh

Tropico 4,145
What happened to #musicnotthebling #chartsdontmatter? Can y'all not? Stick to something I generally don't care about the charts and when I heard ARTPOP was 16 I was like "oh cool. I bet everyone is talking about this on GGD." Only to find now all the people who smash Gaga aren't talking about it? So I thought "you know what... Fuck it. I'm gonna talk about this." Because it seems like people love to bash ARTPOP when it's failing to do well but when it actually does no one dares speak a word of gratitude. I'm actually ready to just take a stab at all the people who insult ARTPOP. I wouldn't say a f--king thing if no one cared about the charts but the thing is people care about the charts when they aren't in Gaga's favour. So when it is in Gaga's favour I feel I should gloat for as long as I can. ♢ Social Justice Enthusiast ♢

FrozenKookie 2,638
What? Why are you making all of this such of a big deal?
Tropico 4,145
Why are you making all of this such of a big deal? Because people always make a big deal out of how "ARTPOP if flopping." "The GP isn't here for Gaga anymore." "TFM was her peak and now ARTPOP is flopping" "Gaga shouldn't have tried so hard with ARTPOP. The GP isn't here for it". Meanwhile the fact of the matter is the GP isn't here for a $15 album not it's content. I don't see why everyone is okay with the statements which are negative towards ARTPOP but when it does good everyone has something to say like "it's just the discount." "It's gonna flop when this week is over" "she's over". That bulls--t pisses me off. And that's why. ♢ Social Justice Enthusiast ♢

Just let it the f*ck go and enjoy the fcking music. Bro I think you're the mess here. You totally misunderstood me. I have always enjoyed the music. And quite frankly I didn't even know anyone considered ARTPOP that big of a flop till I came on this site one day. I am here to actually fight those people of like you who label it a flop meanwhile it is actually doing way better than y'all think. It isn't a flop. It's a fair success. A flop for a pop star would be below the sales of first week ARTPOP. Way below. Gaga is doing f--king well and ARTPOP isn't a flop b---h. ♢ Social Justice Enthusiast ♢
