A recent article from the New York Times focusing on the competition between Showtime and HBO has revealed updated audience totals for some of HBO’s shows. And what do you know, Game of Thrones has now passed Boardwalk Empire to become HBO’s 2nd most watched show! Thrones clocks in with an average of 9.3 million viewers per episode, while Boardwalk is now at 8.4 million. True Blood is tops with 12.6 million. Not only that, but the article reports that True Blood and Thrones trail only The Sopranos for the most watched show in the network’s history! That’s pretty amazing.
Winter Is Coming: Some quick analysis: it seems part of Thrones‘ leapfrog over Boardwalk is due to the lower viewer totals of Boardwalk‘s second season dragging down the show’s average (which was at 10.7m following season one). However, at our last reportThrones had 8.9 million viewers per ep, so the show has gained an average of 400,000 viewers per episode in between seasons strictly though On Demand and HBO Go. Amazing. Once the DVD drops, I suspect even more new viewers will be added and hopefully subscribe to HBO for season two. With all these new viewers on board the season two numbers should be huge. True Blood better watch it’s back!
'Game of Thrones' thesp joins 'Seventh Son' Kit Harington (Jon Snow) co-stars with Jeff Bridges, Julianne Moore By Justin Kroll
With production on Warner Bros. "Arthur and Lancelot" being pushed back, "Game of Thrones" star Kit Harington has found his next role before jumping back into production on the HBO series. Harington is in final negotiations to join the cast of Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures' "The Seventh Son." Legendary had no comment on the casting. He joins a cast that already includes Jeff Bridges, Ben Barnes, Julianne Moore and Alicia Vikander with Sergey Bodrov helming.
Formerly known as "The Spook's Apprentice," tale is adapted from Joseph Delaney's young adult series about a teen who's the seventh son of a seventh son, and learns about wizardry from a forbidding spook. Harington will play the former apprentice of Bridges' character. Bodrov is producing "Seventh Son," along with Legendary's Thomas Tull, Thunder Road's Basil Iwanyk and Lionel Wigram. Jon Jashni and former Legendary exec Alysia Cotter will exec produce. Matt Greenberg penned the script.
Production is expected to start sometime in April -- ideal timing for Harington, who had an open slot before "Thrones" production starts up. Harrington is repped by CAA.
HBO to air 16 minute behind-the-scenes feature on March 2nd
Well now we got ourselves a proper trailer (even if it was a bit short), so what else do we have to look forward to? How does a 16-minute-long look behind-the-scenes of season two of Game of Thrones sound? HBO is set to air “Game of Thrones: Echoes from the Past” on March 2nd at 8 PM EST, according to the HBO.com schedule. The feature is described as “A behind-the-scenes companion piece to Season Two of the hit HBO series ‘Game of Thrones.’”
If one month is too long of a wait for you, then circle February 13th on your calendar, as that is when the third and final In Production video hits HBO On Demand. This 2 minute video will focus on the filming in Iceland. Both videos should be made available online shortly after they debut on air.
Winter Is Coming: I suspect that Echoes from the Past will be much like last season’s Inside Game of Thrones. Which means we should get our first looks at some full scenes from season two! I’m also really looking forward to the Iceland video. While I highly doubt we’ll see any of the new characters, the scenery alone should be impressive.
Has anyone seen the black death? I know sean bean is in it...
but is it worth watching?
Sean Bean is in it? I bet he dies in that movie too I haven't seen it, but now that you brought it up.... Well Metacritic has the movie rated at 71/100.. so it should be alright.
I'm reading, on the other forums, people saying that the writers/runners of the show said SoS will be split into two seasons. And that GRRM said WoW is coming out in roughly 4 years.
I read something along those lines as well (about The Winds of Winter coming out in about 4 years), but then again he is GRRMartin so... Storm of Swords has a whole bunch of stuff going on, they Have to split it up (maybe they will film those two seasons back to back.- like Lord of the Rings)
