After seeing this i don’t take her performances for granted anymore, now i know that she struggles a lot every time she wants to make a performance or even just going out.

It made me think more of what type of fan I need to be. That one lady who followed her and called her mommy looks embarrassing and Gaga seemed uninterested.

Thats basically ALL of us in 2011-12 :toofunny: I used to call her my 2nd mom. And my real mom was so upset I loved Gaga more than her, and she was right lol

For me, it didn't. I think this documentary was made more for people who aren't die-hard fans, because as a monster it wasn't particularly eye-opening or groundbreaking. She came across as a lovely, kind, sincere and relaxed person who could sometimes be fierce and fiery when she needs to be. But we've always known this about her. We've seen enough interviews and behind-the-scenes videos to know who she really is when she "takes off the wigs".

I think this will be quite an eye-opener to the average Joe, though. Because of her larger-than-life persona and her outlandish depiction of herself in the past, I think a lot of people expect her to be a diva, or a holier-than-thou bitch. Which obviously couldn't be further from the truth. But I think this documentary will show her very differently to people who have created an idea of who she is in their minds.

The one thing that did kind of strike me as interesting was that her 'normal speech' when talking to friends is very scatty and disordered... almost like there are too many thoughts going on in her head and she can't arrange them in the right way. It's very different to her usual interviews, which I guess have 'stock answers' and the obvious question/answer dynamic that perhaps makes it easier for her to organise her thoughts. Don't know if anyone else thought this way?

Would be interested to know if this doc changed your perception of Gaga.

Speaking as someone who also does this and has seen a speech specialist out of curiosity, it's a combination of things: 1) Stress 2) Having a lot on your mind all at once which causes that stress. It makes it difficult to articulate yourself all the time because you're hyper aware of everything you're saying. Like, you'll say something but know it wasn't exactly what you meant and that you just thought of something contradictory or qualifying or even entirely unrelated. That's why a lot of times writing helps and having somethin written out helps because on the fly stuff...anything could happen lol it's like your brain is a gallon-sized bag of water and you poke a small hole in it. You're letting out water but that can also sometimes cause more pressure to the bag. So if you think of it that way, all the pressure and stress makes it difficult to always fully articulate complete thoughts.

I was super into the backstage stuff, like how they handle meeting and that stuff. Also, the only thing I could think while watching it was "I need to be friends with this woman." over and over again. If I loved her before idk what to call this feeling from now on.

I admire how she keeps soldiered on, like she gad terrible pain episode earlier in the day and by evening she was slaying the stage on Tony Bennett’s birthday party. Any other person would have just given up. Definitely an inspiration.

I also love how she approached the field crew during Half Time and she told things like “IDK about you but this this is important for me” in the most polite way possible. And how she gave pep talk before the dancers goes on stage. Like, she leads but she also walks together with them rather than having them following her steps.

My perception hasn’t changed, although I did find it extremely interesting to see what she really cares about and what she doesn’t. There’s always a deeper meaning to things and I don’t think certain fans realize that.

I love her even more now than I did before (if that’s even possible :kara:)

Reality

It's strange because my perception of her changed, but at the same time, it didn't. As die-hard Gaga fans, I feel like, generally, nothing really surprised us about this documentary, however, when you look at all the components in their individual states, I'd say that my perception of her has changed a bit.

The first being the way she acts. I don't know, but for some reason, I've always envisioned Gaga as someone who's very carefree and just relaxed about situations; however, as we've seen through the documentary, that isn't always the case. Yes, Gaga is relaxed and free-spirited when can be, but sometimes she can be stern and forceful (this can especially be seen in during rehearsals for the SB). She's a perfectionist and it really shows in this documentary.

The second is her constant struggle with her physical pain. It seems like she really struggles with it on a daily basis, and that just breaks my heart. I mean, someone simply touching you just to get a picture or something must sometimes really hurt for her. This also ties in with how she goes about with the paparazzi and fans, though. That scene, where she was just so nervous and anxious to go outside makes me wonder about all the other times she's had to do that, and how anxious she must have been. It's pretty brutal stuff: the cameras flashing everywhere, people screaming at you, wanting your attention, and all while you just want to get in the car.

The third thing that sort of changed my perception of her was how she reacts to the public. She obviously cares about how she does commercially speaking, but a lot more than I thought. I mean, right before she got off of the bus—or van, I don't know—she asked her friends if they thought her fans would be disappointed that she wasn't all "glammed up". She also has a mini meltdown when her album leaks and throughout the documentary, she shows that she just wants to make people happy.

Overall though, my perception of her has a whole hasn't changed a lot, but this documentary definitely provided some new insights into how difficult her life really is, and how much she struggles on a daily basis.

I think the only thing it opened my eyes to is how genuinely depressed she is most of the time. Like whenever she wasn't talking to someone, she seemed genuinely shut off and emotionally drained. I think she loves what she does, and we got to see that spark whenever she was working or about to perform. Other than that, she seemed very drained, and that was something that made me feel sad.

if anything, it made me appreciate and feel happy that she is going to take a little break, because I think the business is breaking her. She's lonely and needs her family, friends, and a lover, and to have some time to not have to balance that with her insane schedule.

Oh absolutely not. It's everything, it's a nice and touching documentary. But the editing isn't very professional.

I loved the film but I agree, it's more geared toward a non-fan or casual fan. Nothing was especially eye opening for me. I would have loved to see more artistic processes: actually writing lyrics (we only saw her recording not the writing process), coming up with music video ideas, designing the super bowl performance, talking about more of the songs and what they mean to her, the inspiration etc.
