Kayla 7,595
Aura: Since the song is about Gaga asking if you really want to know what she's about, it should be a look that shows her seductively inviting you to look while remaining protective of her identity. OR Venus: This song is a celebration of femininity and intimacy between women. I think this version of the seashell bikini, with the frizzy hair, bare feet, and makeup emphasizing a "natural" look is perfect to represent the kind of freedom that comes when two women are together. G.U.Y.: The song is about the power of the submissive person. We often see the "dominant" one as the one holding the power, but in reality it's the submissive person that determines how far you are allowed to go. This look needs to combine a vulnerable nature with a confident one. The line of this song that stands out to me the most is, "I wanna be the grave and earth you." Sexxx Dreams: The song revolves around un-permitted sexual activity, confessing to a friend that you've dreamt about them sexually. It should be sexy, but also kind of playful and safe. Jewels N' Drugs: Something that isn't flashy, sends the message that the person doesn't care about material items. MANiCURE: From what I gather, the song is about two types of woman- those who are cured by men, and those who need to be cured from them. I think Gaga is, in many ways, both of these types of women. So it needs to be a look that caters to the male gaze, but also retains Gaga's inherent sense of individuality and freedom. It also needs to have a bit of a rock feel to match the song. Do What U Want: This song is really a big "**** You" to the people who tear her down. It acknowledges that anything people tear apart are what she specifically gives them, and there are sides of her no one is allowed to touch. Because of the context of the Bad Romance video, this is the look I think of when I think of that. Remember, Bad Romance video is about Gaga being auctioned off to the highest bidder, only for her to burn him alive when he tries to use her. ARTPOP: To me, this song is quite magical. It's about awareness of all the facets that go into what drives your success and using that awareness to promote growth without losing touch of who you are inside. "My heart can beat with bricks and strings" means "I can survive even when weighted down." This look is about perseverance and strength, hybridized with softness and love. Swine: Gaga is calling out a sexual assailant. The look needs to reflect anger and a no-more-bullshit persona. This look shows torn fishnets, with "Pride" scrawled in red across her stomach. It's sexy and ready to party, the way the song sounds, but there's rough edges and darkness. Dope: Regret and loss following addiction are the focal point of this song. It's about the painful journey of recovery after seeking solace in substances. This should be a look that is disheveled, trying to pull itself together. Gypsy: This song focuses on Gaga's relationship with her family, friends, fans, and significant other, and the role they play in her career. It's about feeling the loneliness of missing your close loved ones, while feeling at home in foreign places because of the love those people give you (her fans). I think the song is made to show Gaga's sense of hope in even her loneliest of times, and her appreciation for the people of many cultures who have shown her love in those moments when she needed it most. Applause: Hard to describe the look and feel for this song....But I think this is it? Okay tbh I'm getting tired of writing out descriptions so the last three are just gonna be so hella obvious and I'm cool with that. Donatella: Fashion!: I can't explain why, and I tried finding one that made more sense, butI feel like this one just fits the song right. Twitter 14
10 hours ago, Kayla said: This is such a neat idea because we get to see how people visualize the songs, and what type of person/look they feel represents them best. In @KING's post, he picked a look for G.U.Y. that I TOTALLY feel is different from how I perceive the song. I'm excited to do this! Thank you each pic kind of represents a certain lyric or fashion statement in each song.
