Quark 7,016
o<(0_0)>o Studies and general awareness shows that buying singles and streaming music is mostly done by the younger generations. This is simply how kids and teens consume their music. Also in general, adults (older people) consume their music by buying full albums and not really singles or streaming. So if today's hits consist of single downloads and streaming. And if Gaga is not having much success lately with hits but solid success with albums, then this means Gaga has a disconnect with younger audiences. So why is Gaga not grabbing the attention of younger audiences? The answer is that her music is simply not trendy. Today's younger generation likes music that makes them dance, that talks about parties, sex, drugs, relationships, and or music that is catchy, funny, simple, and easy to sing along to. The last time Gaga provided music that might be considered trendy was 3 years ago with ARTPOP. But even then, and even before that with BTW and TFM, Gaga started to deviate from the norm and began to provide music that is weird, artsy, mature, meaningful, and sometimes musically not trendy at all. And with Joanne she has departed from this type of trendy music more than ever. Artists like Katy, Rihanna, Taylor, Chainsmoskers, Justin Bieber, and Drake continue to have big hits because their music is still chasing the younger audiences. Gaga on the other hand is simply doing whatever she wants.

Well, that could have been a trend of itself but it just did not work out (at least not yet). Her newest music is just much more mature and not as catchy for younger audiences to appreciate. Because if you want Gaga to have hits you need those young people. They drive the popular music industry. By the way I am happy with Gaga doing whatever she wants. I am just explaining why I think she doesn't have hits anymore.

She could create hits by creating new trends, sadly sometimes her music isnt as innovative as it was in 2009

And her music is still very unique. But like I said, her music on Joanne is not as catchy, dance-able, and more mature. These things do not resonate with younger audiences and makes it more difficult for Gaga to have hits.
