Lady Gaga to receive first 'Icon' award at Songwriters Hall

Lady Gaga will be the recipient of the inaugural Contemporary Icon Award at the Songwriters Hall of Fame on June 18. According to a statement from the hall, the award is to recognize a performing songwriter "who has attained an iconic status in pop culture." 

Lady Gaga is the lead writer of all of her songs, including her most iconic hits "Bad Romance," "Poker Face," and "Born This Way." Before her own career took off, Gaga was writing pop songs for other artists such as Britney Spears and The Pussycat Dolls.
