I'm really happy that it's holding its own. For some odd reason, Applause has grown on me in the same manner that Born This Way did. I didn't love it at first, but it's important. After the iTunes Festival people went from 'Applause as a lead was wrong' to 'Applause as a lead was the best choice for a lead' (myself included). Imo ARTPOP represents what the album is about more than Applause, but I guess Applause was a better choice because is more relatable than the title track..
