I wonder why she chose to perform on Colbert & why she picked VIY. It all seems a bit random, but hey, I'm not complaining. VIY is my favorite track on MAYHEM and I'm holding out hope that it'll get single treatment. I'd be ok if it doesn't, but it more than deserves it. Btw, it baffles me that y'all will praise every single piano/acoustic performance she does to the heavens and back, but then be absolutely against the idea of her releasing a ballad-y/stripped back kind of album. I need her to release a ballad album in the future. She's got the talent for it, and it's clear that many people (particularly the GP) enjoy it when she does more stripped-back stuff. Her vocals sounded incredibly strong, the arrangement and harmonies were gorgeous, and knowing she’s in a good place finally with a good man just made this even more heartfelt. Not to be dramatic, but as someone who has followed her from the beginning, it’s so beautiful to see her at peace, but also so artistically fulfilled. It feels like she’s always been chasing something when creating her music throughout the years, and though that’s brought incredible music and passion, now it feels like she’s just following her passion and enjoying what she does.
