I’m pretty sure her music career is done unless she drops an acoustic album or something. Otherwise she’ll just be a legacy artist. I hope she just makes projects she’s passionate about without trying to make it a “comeback.” If that’s a pop album, great. If it’s an acoustic album, great. She stopped being Grammy nominated years ago, she's been given that icon award by MTV, so with no hits, there's nothing left she can achieve. I can see her still releasing music but much less often. She needs to go back to OOTB sounds like her fans have been begging for years now or even better, make an acoustic album. Ballads are always what she creates when left to her own devices. She may as well make music she wants to make that isn't for the charts, as she has nothing to lose now. Above all, it's high time she dropped the ditzy bimbo goofball schtick because it's not a good look as a settled mother who's almost 40. It just looks fake, contrived and ridiculous and it's why she can't appeal to people her own age. Its been clear for a long time that the kids have long outgrown her, so appealing to her own age range is the only smart thing now. Even if it's not a rip-roaring success, it'll show she can do something new and win her some respect. And for Gods sake, drop Luke once and for all. Her career was already going downhill even when he wasn't involved but coming back to him despite his reputation spelled the death knell for any chance of a successful comeback. I think she has to keep on the music route, though. She clearly can't act so acting isn't an option, reality tv is a totally different ball game and celebrity reality shows are considered corny now, singing reality shows are dead, she'll never make a beauty brand. She (or her record label) COULD change that, but it’s up to them to put the effort in experimenting with a different sound or avenues of entertainment (like the rom com/ sit com suggestions that a lot of people mentioned in this thread).
