Reading apologizes for cutting Lana's set short by 5 minutes after she arrived late

The festival organizers have issued an apology to Lana for cutting her set short by 5 minutes


Lana Del Rey took over the main stage at this year’s edition of Reading Festival as the headliner for the second day of the bash.

Lana Del Rey showed up about 20 minutes late to her set. To kick off her performance, she treated the rowdy crowd to a shortened version of her 2019 track ‘Norman F*cking Rockwell’. “

The rest of her 13-track set was filled with a mix of songs spanning her discography including ‘Ride’, ‘Bartender’ and ‘Chemtrails Under The Country Club’. Check out her full setlist below.

After wrapping up her set with ‘Video Games’, the singer announced “Thank you so much Reading, thank you. We are going to sing a couple more songs. As long as we can until they pull us off.” Unfortunately, it seemed that Del Rey had gone over her allocated time and the festival may have cut her set.

She then sat on stage and watched fireworks go off as "hope is a dangerous thing for a woman like me to have – but I have it" played from tape.

she's not even the headliner, the headliner is Fred Again and the festivals in a residential area so ofc they'd cut her off for his set to start

She was also late today, and removed Ocean Blvd and The Grants for final Ocean Blvd Tour show.

she greeted London instead of Leeds

and  changed her outfit for A&W and Young and Beautiful

She's notoriously late. Festivals have curfews and tight schedules so if an artist is 20-30 mins late for an hour-long set then their set is only 30-40 mins.

An error? No need to apologize imo. There might be a reason for being late but then you need to also accept that your set will be shorter. Lana seemed to do this but then maybe she and her team flipped backstage I dunno.

If an arena show starts 20/30 mins late I don't care. Almost all of have enough spare time at the end to avoid cutting the show. And no other acts or teams are affected.

Not the case at a festival. Being late throws off the entire production for multiple artists's teams being coordinated. That "spare time" in between sets isn't spare, its the load out and the load in window for the two acts bookending it. 

Its totally rude and inconsiderate. I don't think Reading should have apologised for Lana's mistake.
