“Boris Johnson has insisted that Scotland's independence debate is "irrelevant" to most people as he urged the country to unite against Covid.

The PM was speaking during a trip to Scotland to emphasise the strength of the UK working together during the pandemic.

The SNP said he was panicking as opinion polls show declining support for the union.

First Minister Nicola Sturgeon also questioned if his trip is essential.

The PM started his day-long visit by going to the Lighthouse Laboratory - which processes Covid tests - at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital campus in Glasgow.”

Lets hope he didn't bring any COVID with him or this transparent stunt will backfire. The less leaders like Boris (and formerly Trump) are seen, the better.

The thing is, he travelled over 3 council areas - as far as I am aware. Absolutely no need for him to come here

This is the same crook who stood by his advisor when he drove halfway across England to 'check his eyesight', and called the rest of the country dumb for not interpreting the rules in the same way. I can't stand right wingers

Ugh, he needs to just let Scotland go, it's the best option of everyone.

The hardest thing in this world is to live in it

He is the prime minister of the United Kingdom.

Until Scotland leaves and gets it's hard border with the rest of the UK, gets its own currency, Gets a withdrawal deal with the UK and supports itselfs fully financially he is more than entitled to go there for an inspection or to show support for the country if he wishes.

People wouldn't be complaining if it was Jeremy Corbyn who was prime minister. So many double standards within the left in this country..

Is it any wonder that our country doesn't have the pandemic under control and have been in lockdown numerous times when a person like this is in charge.

Despite him being the Prime Minister it doesn’t entitle him to travel around the country, the law is not in his name and the law states that nobody should be travelling unless it’s absolutely essential, which Bojo’s excuse was very inessential. The advice by the Scottish Government is not to travel from England to Scotland and vice versa.

AND, if Corbyn was the Prime Minister and he was doing the same I would be critical of it as well and I am very left-wing in my views. I don’t care if a politician is left, right or centre, if they are breaking lockdown rules they should be criticised for it. If I did was Bojo did I would probably be fined.

You can legally travel for work and being the PM is his job. World leaders have been travelling all throughout this pandemic as their job is the most important and not all of it can be done through conference calls. Plus, they'll be made sure to be travelling with a mask on and will have guards opening doors for them and generally making sure that nothing happens. And they'll have been tested constantly. For years, Nicola's been saying that English politicians don't care about Scotland, so when one tries to make a show that he cares (whether that's true or not), she's still finding a way to say that makes him wrong? Nicola's just saying this because she wants to tear down anything that Boris or English politicians do, no matter how much she has to twist the obvious facts. It's doing her no favours and her insistence on trying to force a referendum during a pandemic is appalling. Can't she see that Scotland would likely have the same problems the rest of Europe's having right now getting doses of the vaccine if we'd been independent? I'm a Remainer but even I admit that if we'd still been part of the EU, we'd have had the same problem but as we're out, we were able to do things our way and get enough supplies and we're vaccinating millions. Regardless of what you think of Brexit, this is one good thing that's come out of it, even if it's an outcome no one could have predicted as we couldn't have predicted the virus. Even during a pandemic, she's focused on independence referendums and English hate. Shameless.

The thing is, his trip was not essential, he came up shot his gums at Independence in a hospital and left, how is that essential? Even Bojo being PM doesn’t mean sh*t, he still broke lockdown rules, he didn’t do anything diplomatic, he came up for press photos that’s all. He’s very “look at me, I’m trying to save a dying union” “look I care about Scotland” whereas he has proven throughout his Government work he doesn’t care, Scotland votes to remain in the EU... dragged out, not allowances made for us. We are told to shut up and get on with it like good little Scotland.

Yes, the EU is having problems with the vaccines but no fully clued up on the reasons. Trying to force a referendum, are you kidding me? Are you deluded, 20 polls in a row has shown that they are a appetite for independence, being dragged out of the EU, our voice not getting heard, been told to be happy with this mess of Brexit. A referendum will ONLY happen if the SNP/Green get a majority in May elections, who votes in elections? Yes the electorate, the SNP/Green has reasons for a referendum.

Clue yourself up, Independence is not hating the English, give me one quote from the SNP that implies that they hate the English. We DO NOT hate the English. We hate Westminster and all it stands for. Oh yeah, same can be said about Bl0wjob, he forced for a brexit despite a pandemic going on. The SNP has waited till now and the vote will probably take place in the later part of the year when the pandemic will most likely be over.

Yet again, independence supporters do NOT hate the English, we hate Westminister.

Do you have a problem with other world leaders doing this very thing? This is standard work as PM, pandemic or not. You have to show you care about everyone, keep up morale, whether it's genuine or not. I don't see threads started for everytime foreign world leaders do the very same thing he's doing. It goes to show there's bias against him, his party and the English when he does it. And its behaviour like this that'll put him off granting any rights to referendums. We don't have to put up with it because we're "good little Scotland" but because we are part of the UK, whether we like it or not. You don't see Wales or Northern Ireland kicking up a fuss every time a political decision happens that they don't like. Because when you're part of a country, you just have to accept the rough with the smooth. Ever since we lost independence, SNP supporters seem to think that we did get it for some reason and the very fact we got a chance to choose is now a sign that England should just let us do whatever we want. It doesn't work like that. The entire population of Scotland is smaller than the city of London. Do you see London wanting to go independent every time it thinks differently to the rest of the UK? No, that would be absurd. Scotland and London were the two places that were major supporters of staying in the EU. Scotland wanted to go independent because they didn't get what they want, London just accepted it. Where does Scotland's entitlement come from? We're part of the UK, get used to it.

There was £20 million announced by UK Research & Innovation to find a cure. A vaccine development taskforce was set up all the way back in April to ready for a vaccine if it came: https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/apr/17/new-uk-taskforce-to-help-develop-and-roll-out-coronavirus-vaccine

All this money, time and effort is the result of England and the UK as a whole and why we have so many people getting vaccinated now. If England wasn't producing that vaccine, we'd have less and we wouldn't be granted access to it as an independent Scotland. Because of England, we had these breakthroughs and are benefitting from them as part of the UK.

I'm tired of hearing about what the polls say. We gave an answer in 2014. Once in a lifetime or once in a generation, whatever was claimed at the time, it was done. They're just annoyed because they didn't get the result the wanted and repeating history in order to get the "right" result is the opposite of democracy. The SNP tear down England any time they have the chance, Nicola's always trying to one up Boris and make announcement before him right now and is always making a point of saying how Scotland's dealing with the virus so much better than England, is always saying how we do something better in Scotland than in England. And I've witnessed the real English hate among SNP supporters and it's far more widespread than just Westminster. People are going through enough upheaval and grief right now. The last thing we need is another independence vote when the world's in ruins.
