David Ward 9,613
Hey guys, it's Nicole Republican, Democrats reach compromise over Covid-19 stimulus package Americans will receive a one time $600 stimulus check and Unemployment will be enhanced with $300 for 10 weeks (unsure if retroactive) This is only meant to bandaid the situation until Biden and the Democrats take over and hopefully take or tie the Senate to provide more relief come February. They will be voting as early as 7:30 p.m Sunday (12/20) and are currently finalizing paperwork. https://www.cnbc.com/2020/12/20/republican-democrats-reach-compromise-over-covid-19-stimulus-package.html It's finally happening
ThisGuyTony 35,110
$600 is kinda ridiculous. But hopefully that small amount is enough for some families to buy groceries or necessities.
bionic 50,111
Did they concede to Moscow Mitch’s demands?

Isn’t a tie in the senate a best case scenario? (With Kamala giving the 51st vote)

Yes, but because of Trump, Georgia and the Republicans in the runoff race are apparently being slaughtered due to reps in senate delaying the stimulus for so long. Not to mention Trump talking shìt to them like they don't know who they voted for. If it wasn't for that reason, McConnell would not even be entertaining this package and that you can bet your last dollar on.

WhiteWitch 720
I’ll take it. I honestly didn’t expect anything in the realm of stimulus till after the inauguration and runoffs tbh.
Batwings 12,958
$600 doesn't even cover most people's rent. But they're OK with billionaires paying nothing in taxes each year.
Sorcerer92 837
Only $600? These politicians are beyond pathetic.

Again correct me if I'm misunderstanding but it doesn't sound like that's all ppl are getting. Isn't EI being enhanced? This sounds like just a bonus

Like seniors got a one time $300 bonus, parents a $200 bonus per child on 2 occasions (and one was actually from Province not Federal Government) and I believe people with disabilities also got a one time bonus that wasn't huge Other than that it was mainly enhancements
B2theRich33 2,239
I still never got my first stimulus check of $1200, even though I qualified and had my 2018 and 2019 taxes filed... so. I’m not holding my breathe
