Runway 27,876
The 3 remaining kats in under that tweet saying they don’t care because she got 6 #1’s from one album 10 years ago💀 Must be the new "Britney outsold your faves discography with one album in 1999" Metallica outselling with a live album 💀
Eddie 2,518
I know Katy doesn't have to prove anything and that she doesn't need the charts But I'm happy because these era the Clowny Cats have become really toxic attacking everyone and now we can rub in their faces that "Katy is over" A humility lesson for them What if tomorrow I see you again? Should I say that I used to love you?

Number one albums aren’t as hard to get as number 1 singles, so I really thought she would easily get the number one. I feel like her fan base alone would be enough to get her more than 50k. Her fanbase is like us during the Joanne era. There are sides that hates the album and refuse to support it and a side that loves it, also there's the managers that are blaming/attacking everyone, everything and creating conspiracy theories as to why Katy's not popular anymore. I know the statistics somewhat cause I went on Wikipedia to check out her numbers. Her worldwide album sales are around 70% US, 10% China and the rest everywhere else. She's extremely US-centric, which explains why people from other countries like you are baffled by her success. So I guess she's just America's sweetheart, but she definitely fails to connect with other countries as much (with some exceptions, like Australia for example, but the numbers there are negligible compared to the worldwide ones due to their relatively small population) That being said, it is so weird how much she's paid dust elsewhere when she's an absolute sales monster stateside Taylor became global once nobody was buying albums after she crossed over from country. She is a streaming monster and folklore debuted with non-us streams of close to 180m on Spotify (Which is actually more than Chromatica did first week worldwide with the US included). 1989 literally has 2 songs about to reach 3B on YT, she has insane recurrents and is the fourth most viewed artist in YT behind Justin Bieber, Ed Sheeran and Katy (who she will surpass soon). It is just insane to try to argue she isn't global. Also nobody would look at Red, 1989, reputation and Lover certifications and say "local" so this seems a bit biased. Using percentages to undermine her global sales is a bit unfair considering she does indeed dominate the US market This are her Top 10 cities on YT in the last 12 months 1. Quezon City 2. Bangkok 3. Jakarta 4. Kuala Lumpur 5. Ho Chi Minh City 6. New York City 7. Mexico City 8. London 9. Cebu 10. Hanoi So no, she is not local. I hate to say it because I love Katy but if this is true WOW it came back to bite them in the a** 5#1 singles from an album and 2 diamond #1 singles from the next, IMMEDIATELY to Witness then Smile.... like that is the definition of fad. i would never call Katy that as I feel like it’s more of a term for a product and is quite dehumanizing to call a person. But that is so ironic. i wasn’t aware they came up with it.

Oh no, I wasn't calling her a non-event at all. I was mostly focusing on her sales and how much people in the US are willing to pay for her vs how much people outside the US aren't. The only country where she has significant success in Europe for example is the UK. And even so, if you take her album sales there and compare them to the US, they're disproportionately weaker. Doesn't mean she's a non-event though in any way.

We aren't in 2011 anymore Well I was focusing more on sales as opposed to Youtube views (which I don't consider to be the most accurate indicator of how "big" someone is). And I didn't say she was local, I said her popularity is hyper-focused in certain parts of the world, as opposed to Gaga for example who has an arguably wider outreach. Curunir 7,510
Btw, I'm interested to know, are KatyCats losing their minds over this on Twitter?
