Katy still has a chance to regain GP interest again, as much as some delulu monsters want to believe and wish that katy’s officially over. if KP6 happens to be her third underperforming album in a row, perhaps she is truely over. Gaga has two underperforming albums in a row, like Katy has currently. so we shouldn’t deem her over. All of this T. I have nothing against Katy, although I am not keen on her shenanigans back in the day, so I'll be objectively honest: Labels are ruthless. ARTPOP era was reportedly budgeted 25m (they didn't lose it - she made it back) but she even had to do her own GUY video to try to finish the era. A label will stop investing if they feel you're on the way out, that's why Joanne was all about vocals and stripped back production. Gaga had big promo for thar album but that's purely because she has brought in ratings and can perform really well. She doesn't connect with the GP as much as Katy can with a song - so she relies on big promo spots much more to sell her songs. The problem is that was never true of Katy and she didn't form a base. Katy could pay for stuff herself now. But Gaga makes it look easy to other bases not just katy's - it require so much hard work and proving yourself to get big promo spots, playlist positions, and A list collabs like Grande/BP. If your power is waining then labels will stop funding you, and brands won't give you centre stage - it's a tough industry. This is simply what is happening. But alongside that she did score a hit last year that's going to hit decent Spotify streams and on her own. So the music is also a problem too. Stare at the Chartster in the mirror they talk to me too. #StreamFunTonight

Their Metacritic sabotage on Chromatica and folklore didn't do much noise so now they're moving on to her label, pointing out things that happened... 1 month ago... with them doing nothing about it then. They're just throwing things until something sticks that can portray Katy as a victim. Just support the album and SMILE.

Katy is pretty much solidified w Capitol so i don’t think they’d drop her. the minimal promo from Smile could also be due to katy focusing on her daughter/family. I mean I’m just saying, Halsey is arguably more relevant to my generation compared to Katy right now. You could argue the same thing about Billie compared to Gaga since they’re on the same label too. The execs will go where the money is. It’s not realistic to keep investing resources into artists that are past their prime and aren’t as popular anymore. Katy has kept a decent sized fanbase but do you honestly think Capitol should be giving her Teenage Dream sized promo now that she’s barely able to chart and has dropped so far in popularity? They wouldn’t be able to make their money back. Its just how the music industry works. sitting on his lap sipping diet pepsi
Kindness Ponk 2,994
They should be grateful tbh. If Katy was in Interscope, she will be only releasing Christmas albums
