I think it’s a good thing she speaks up about gay rights. She’s just doing it now when it’s safer. Gaga had huge backlash for supporting the gays in 2011 with Born This away. She alienated so many people, I remember so many of my guy friends refused to listen to her music because she was too ‘gay’. Now Taylor releases a song about gay rights and nobody bats an eyelid, and my male friends say it’s okay to listen to her because she’s cute. I just think she’s your typical privileged white girl with mediocre talent who had her wealthy parents help her start her music career. That’s my opinion, take it or leave it.

Are we gonna ignore the fact that Gaga is also a white girl with rich parents???

Lmao. She must not be a great vocalist, but her voice is amazing & is so soothing to listen to.A pop star need not to have all the talents you know.Madonna was never a great vocalist either. You're fuming, but why?? Why her success bothers you so much. There are many pretty white girls flopping out there(like Carly) & many black artists with mediocre talents like Rihanna thriving. Why do you have no problem with that??

Her vocal tone is commercial, that’s it. Her voice works for music that she makes. She’s extremely limited as a vocalist and that’s putting it nicely. Madonna was a great performer and was an artist willing to stand for something time after time despite backlash. Don’t you dare compare the struggles of an artist like Madonna to Taylor Swift who’s had such an easy ride. Carly is not blonde and nor is she as beautiful as Taylor. Rihanna is a POC who didn’t come from money, who’s had struggles with her broken family. She also has the voice of a chameleon that adapts to many genres. That’s why.

Gaga is not conventionally beautiful and she was seen as weird. As a Gaga fan you should know her dad only helped pay for her rent. Gaga’s struggles with depression, rape, drugs, mental health, feeling like an outcast is comparable to Taylor’s privileged upbringing? I have to laugh. Gaga had a lot of things going against her and she still made it while having something to say. Unlike Taylor until like a decade into her career where she conveniently supports gay rights when it’s safe.

Taylor is not bigger than Gaga outside of the US and 2009-2011 Gaga was way bigger in the US. Taylor has remained a commercial force because she plays it safe/is not offensive so she retains a wide demographic like Adele. A mother would be much happier with their child listening to Taylor Swift than the ‘outlandish’ and ‘sexual’ Lady Gaga. Taylor is literally the perfect example of white mediocrity winning. She didn’t stand for anything for the majority of her career and now all of sudden she’s being open with her politics, when it’s safer to support the gays. Just mediocrity all around.

I prefer Gaga obvi so don't rant using my quote.:poot: Taylor is a bigger album seller overall and it's a fact so good for her... We don't have anything to win or lose even if she flops and sells 10 copies. :vegas:

Fearless sold more than fame at this years actually. And she didn't support gays because it was safe, because she wanted to. It wad never safe for singer started at country and has huge conversative fanbase too. She is songwriter, composer and plays 7 instruments. Mediocre? She even produced all songs at lover.

Taylor started as first singer of her label. Her parents didn't help that much.

In this musical climate, those numbers are impressive. Selling more first week then some even do in months. :reductive:

Taylor is HUGE outside of the US. And wasn’t Reputation a risky era? She completely discarded her “good girl” image for a more sexualized one. Her lyrics were darker and more mature and she did it knowing full well most of her fanbase is pretty young. You can’t say she doesn’t t take risks. She was a country girl who transitioned to electropop for god’s sake. Her music is infectious and well constructed and she works hard.

Swiftie haters should leave this thread if they hate her so much. Why did you even click anyway?

Yes, I bet her prepubescent fans were blushing when they heard the Dress lyrics for the first time. She did that.

OMG Taylor SAID **** OMG OMG I hope my parents won't hear it.

Yes, working with Max Martin is the riskiest venture, poor ASIBGa.

This site is slowly turning into SwiftDaily. I can't even browse recent threads anymore.

So many laughable points in your response.

1. Reputation was probably her safest era lmao. Literally relied on the trap sound and synths that are we’re all over radio at the time. She made money off a fake drama composed with Kanye and Kim.

2. If you really think Reputation is a dark album...

3. Sexualized? Sex sells. She knew exactly what she was doing

4. Going from country to pop is risky? She literally chased the money and pumped out radio hits. She had more respect from me as a country artist.
