That's the point he's trying to make. Taylor showed up late to the party, during pride month, with a song she wanted to sell, which has been written about extensively in the press. This isn't some sort of GGD conspiracy: she was widely (and rightfully) criticized for YDTCD, which equates her own problems (as a massively wealthy, straight white woman being rightfully criticized for keeping silent during a rise in white supremacist thinking, especially given that she was idolized by Nazis that she refused to condemn) to the institutional oppression of queer people. We get it: you're a fan. But queer people have the right to criticize purported allies when they do a mediocre job, especially when they do so in the form of a product meant to be consumed by queer people. I have no problem with Taylor. I don't think she's mediocre. I like a lot of her music and I buy her explanation about why she stayed silent (media executives telling her not to be like the Dixie Chicks and ruin her career by getting political). But don't ever try to compare Gaga's decades worth of activism to this corny song, or Gaga's identity as a queer woman to Swift's. It's more than a little insulting. You've made some points, my dear. In terms of YNTCD, I'm interested if you believe it was Swift's intention to equate her experience, as a white straight cis woman, to the queer experience? After reviewing the lyrics to the song, I'm having trouble deciphering if this equation is inadvertent or intentional...

Lady Gaga’s THE FAME era was legendary and by far bigger than ANY Taylor Swift era in the US and definitely worldwide. Being bigger and having impact isn't same thing. According to you, Beyonce is bigger than Adele ww right now. Taylor had highest grossing North American tour "of all time" but if you say Gaga's 1 era is bigger than any era by Taylor in USA... Let's act like that.

Taylor has remained a commercial force because she plays it safe/is not offensive so she retains a wide demographic like Adele. A mother would be much happier with their child listening to Taylor Swift than the ‘outlandish’ and ‘sexual’ Lady Gaga. Taylor is literally the perfect example of white mediocrity winning. She didn’t stand for anything for the majority of her career and now all of sudden she’s being open with her politics, when it’s safer to support the gays. Just mediocrity all around. A star is born is the literal definition of mediocrity created just to become relevant again and to be fed to the white conservative trump base but yes drag taylor i guess... The truth is Taylor tried risky with reputation and she still had a successful era.

"Only sissy homos listen to dance music!" "Hip-hop only appeals to black guys!" In the defense of ASIB, its chart performance in America is arguably weaker than most of countries around the world. If ASIB was just created to be fed to the white conservative trump base, suddenly Trump is much more beloved in Europe, Oceania and Antarctica What's not clicking? KingRedd 3,139
Well this thread derailed as expected ha. Congrats to Taylor, she’s like America’s good girl and that is her brand and it works for her. Congrats I like seeing artist sell and beat the “music industry Is over” narrative. Why are people attacking Gaga? I don’t even wanna start but when it comes to impact and moments that help shape the industry we all know Gaga is over Taylor. Sales doesn’t equal impact. It’s like saying Adele had more impact on artist coming up than Gaga, Brit, and Bey. Lets celebrate Tay but umm the Gaga bashing. I don’t feel it. Not a good look. May I Read You? 😎

The only thing she has going for her is her songwriting and even then she’s written some terrible lyrics. She’s a pretty, blonde white popstar, who sings Max Martin hits, who isn’t offensive which is why she’s kept herself afloat. White people have historically been rewarded for their mediocrity over POC who have to work much harder.
