Not really. The Recording Academy isnt music critics, its music creators. And obviously it's not just "anyone" but people with exceptional talent in their field. You automatically assume BTS know nothing about music but in reality they were probably chosen due to their knowledge of music

Sure...looks are important in kpop. But you need to be able to dance. Sing. Rap. That's why training exists? I mean theres not any training for looking good. The companies don't pick idols solely based on looks. If they did, a lot of idol groups would sould sound like Katy Perry trying to sing live.

yes, i've been a die-hard kpop fan for 3-4 years, and this is the conclusion, especially in the latest years, that i came to. there is no artistic vision in any of these groups. there was ages ago, especially with bts, i have to admit that, but the cash-machine took them over and it's just another bland kpop group selling their looks and over-processed shitty music with a 'banging chorus'.

hmm... are you sure about that?

the fact that there's no training for looking good pretty much answers you, no special talent is needed, the average kpop dancing can be learned, you got the looks, you got the contract. if the companies wouldn't pick idols with the focus on the looks, how come most of them strive for either the same style or end up having procedures that strive towards the 'perfect idol look' ?

hmm... are you sure about that?

I must be out of the Loop with that then. Because my favorite groups all do their own thing and write their own stuff. The lyrics are insightful and meaningful. I dont like people like Twice much. Or Blackpink or anything like that. But like have you seen predebut shinee? They don't look that cute imo. Taemin couldn't even sing like he can now. Hr could dance. But he was considered tone deaf. I mean...people audition for certain parts just like a play. Yoongi from bts rapped in his audition. Taemin from shinee danced in his audition. Bts, shinee, ateez and stray kids are mostly who I ultimately stan. Everyone else? I'm just a casual fan of. Like ikon and red velvet.

Kpop seems so manufactured tbh, it reminds me of Miley’s black mirror episode. I’ve read that they are controlled and can’t even date anyone irl. I hope they’re happy and healthy

Things are changing. I heard the American music industry rapes people. So...I'd say both are equally ****ed up. But at least the kpop industry is changing.

That’s just every work environment, not just the music industry. Women have been taken advantage of, for years and that is changing too now that girls are getting empowered and perverts are getting outed.

But again, that applies to most award shows. Oscars also requires 2 sponsors and 3 film credits, or a nomination, to be a member.

Yeah but with a nomination you are only allowed to vote for the field you've been nominated in for example Dianne Warren is a member but can vote only in music categories, if Gaga becomes a member she'll be eligible to vote every category besides technical (music, acting, picture).

Just FYI, they are only allowed to vote in the 4 big awards and the category that they are "specialized" in. All the voters are music creators themselves so I'm glad they get to be a part of the process!

Pretty sure Grammy voters can vote in all categories
