The Grammy's always have a sh*tload of big name artists invited to perform and often half of them aren't even nominated for anything 

 

But the Oscars are much more picky and formal with this stuff and usually expect you to perform whatever was actually nominated most of the time

 

So you weren't wrong a rule like that I think does exist but it's for the Oscars not the Grammys

It's rather weird why they don't wanna let her perform her third single, presumably because it's not known by the public yet, but Gaga opened with Born This Way, Katy Perry with Part of Me and Chained to the Rhythm, and also Dark Horse (instead of Roar which was already gigantic and nominated and successful by which time Dark Horse was not). All of these performances catapulted the songs into huge successful singles so I understand why Ariana wants that, but why did they let Gaga and Katy do it but not Ariana?
