because they haven't seen the full movie yet, there's been plenty of movies where the trailer and pre-trailer hype has been nothing but positive however the actual movie ended up being critically panned

Well Sean Penn said it is the best movie he has seen in years, so that is probably a sign of things to come from reviews.  He does not mince his words.
