When you are a pop artist like Ariana you only depend on 3 radio formta HAC/POP/ and Rythmic. If one of those formats doesn't play you. The song will never peak as high as it could. Ariana has the #1 pop song but only sits at #5 on Overall because of HAC. That also holds her back when points are added for the Hot100. If HAC treated her like they treat Alessia Cara, Maroon 5 and Meghan Trainor she would probably have the number one Overall radio song and would have peaked higher on the Hot100. Meghan Trainor has the opposite problem HAC loves her but POP doesn't. I don't know how that disconnect happens but weirdly enough I only see it happen to female artists. Male artists tend to either be loved by all radio formats or pannned by all radio formats that their music is meant for. I think Gaga will have a similar problem with MR. Was it sent to radios late? The Video is nowhere. And radio will jump on board late when sales are declining and she won't be able to peak as high as she could with MR. The song should already be in the top 20 if radio was on board. It would have been anyways since anytime when a video get's released the old ones also get's a boost but now hopefully people who are searching for MR and finds it's video and will be like wait there is a prequal to this? and watch PI also. I hope PI will reach 200m streams and MR 500m in 2017, take MR down to 200/300m if it doesn't become a much bigger hit than now but i think the future is looking bright for the single.
