I do wonder if any of these attacks were called "terrorist attacks".

Just looking on the bright side...

Why do you say that? They usually call terrorists "terrorists".

lol no

Last time white American was called a terrorist in the media was pre 9/11 - Timothy McVeigh, killed 168 people, injured over 680.

There were many mass shootings after him with clear political motives and they were just "shooters". Never terrorists.

Anti-Abortion Terrorism Must Be Stopped

As news continues to unfold about Friday’s Planned Parenthood shooting in Colorado Springs, one thing is clear: Domestic terrorism remains unchecked, even on the day after Thanksgiving. To label this an isolated act of violence would be naïve. In 2015 alone, there has been unprecedented harassment from anti-choice extremists, including most recently, a series of slanderous manipulated videos used to attack Planned Parenthood’s fetal tissue donation programs. And now this.

We can speculate long and hard about the gunman’s motives or targets, but what is more significant—what keeps me up at night as an OB/GYN physician—is the concern that we as a nation have become complacent. Was it truly a shock that something so horrific emerged only weeks after anti–Planned Parenthood rhetoric dominated the presidential candidate debates? What was all of this manipulative campaigning if not an invitation to incite hate? And now this.

A few people were injured and only a few people died, some headlines will say. That’s not so many compared to the recent acts of terrorism in Paris. But here’s the irony: This is a homegrown terrorist, one that no amount of passport authentication or refugee rejection could have stopped. We spend all this effort agonizing over external threats, all the while overlooking the extremism, bigotry, and hatred that lives down the street. And now this.

This is a sign of crisis. When women are too scared to seek medical care for fear of being shot on the way to clinic, we are in crisis mode. This is beyond bullying and this is no longer simply a politicizing issue. This is a runaway train on which nobody is pulling the brakes.

Are you claiming the media doesn't call people terrorists when they're white? That's ridiculous. The IRA, the Baader-Meinhof group, the Red Brigades, Chechens, as you mentioned, McVeigh...

Nope, the media calls people terrorists when their attacks have some political motive behind them. Some guy shooting up his school because he feels outcast and has anger issues is not a "terrorist".

This might have been domestic terrorism. It looks like it, but we don't know the gunman's motives yet. For all we know it could have been a personal grudge against employees. They're right not to call him a terrorist at this time. That would be sloppy reporting.

Chechens are muslims, muslims are always labeled as terrorists, they do not have mental health issues or traumas from the past.

Lol at you talking about sloppy reporting and not to label this guy, weren't you the one who wanted so badly that German jewish pilot, who crashed the plane, to be a muslim;  so you found some blog trying to prove that he was a convert. Only then you'd could call it a terrorist act.

And no they don't call them much terrorists in headlines

a man, loner, gunman, shooter, maniac, "race-hate massacre suspect", they'll say it all but not - a terrorist.

And if this is the case of domestic terrorism, he is a terrorist but they still won't call him that. Just keep checking the headlines.

Breivik and Roof are terrorists and various media referred to them as such, especially the former. Why not all media used that term is not because they're white, it's because they don't belong to groups or movements which are popularly associated with and actively engaged in contemporary worldwide terrorism.

I just showed to you the evidence that majority of mainstream media did not use the terrorist in headlines to describe them, even if it's clear that they both had political motives. Now you're adding more to definition of terrorism - "must belong to a group or movement", no. They do have one thing in common, they are white supremacists, neo nazis and that is enough to call them terrorists.

Same like Lafayette Shooter

how are these people not terrorists?

AquaFire Witch

Take away the labels - IE Christian Extremists- ISIS - does that really matter? because they all have ONE motive and that is to DESTROY humanity. I just call them  all HUMANITY destroyers.  These are the ones holding us back from advancing or we haven't quite figured out yet how to manage a peaceful society.

Republicans got this dude riled up and look what happened. On the other hand do we have to worry now that anything said on TV somebody might act and go kill or shoot people up....???

Good GOD there is just so much chaos. :/
