Yes. That's why I didn't get why she chose. 'Dope' as an example. She has plenty of dark themed songs like Monster, Bloody Mary, Government Hooker, Speechless, TEOG, Brown Eyes, etc. I get what she's saying but Dope is far from the first personal song she's made.

Dope just felt so forced and contrived to me. Speechless is definitely one of her most personal songs, you can hear the pain her voice and it really puts you in her position to understand what she was feeling at the time. Many people enjoyed that song even non gaga fans because it was relatable and people understood the pain.

I don't need to put "I think" for people to know its my opinion and if they dont then thats their problem and not mines

It's just the way that you phrase it that makes it seem like it's Gaga's fault. It's not that the songs are terrible, it's the fact that you simply don't enjoy them. Little things in terms of phrasing like that can make a world of difference in terms of interpeting, and don't come off as negative.

I never said it was Gagas fault since it was her decision to make those songs, I just thought they were terrible. I thought the swine vomit performance was atrocious but I'm not going to blame Gaga for it because she felt passionate about it.

When I first read this earlier I was just as upset as a lot of you but now that I've read it again I realised that everyone is misinterpreting it and overreacting. She is saying people really don't like when she puts her pain into her music (like how she did with Dope) and that people want a happy Gaga which she is happy to give...but she doesn't mean she is going to make the next California Girls, it's just she is saying she's found a place to express every dark emotion to the max - AHS where she probably can't do it quite as much in her music. But I don't think she is saying that she won't put any pain into her music anymore.

Everyone just relax it's going to be fine! She's not about to write an album full of Just Dance with no deep emotion I think she just is making the point that she has a place to be completely free with her emotions without people wanting a different version of her.

Also I don't think she's being that literal. When you are doing an interview you always just blurt out stuff but don't necessarily say it EXACTLY how you mean it. She does this all the time.

Anyway sorry for the long rant. Don't worry I'm sure if Gaga saw our reactions she would think she has been misinterpreted and didn't mean it the way we are looking into it.

I also think that there was a particular time when people were only interested in the Bad Romance, Poker Face Gaga and I still feel like there's some people who dont take her seriously enough in the GP. Many people who arent fans don't know how deep and personal some of her songs are. So I see where she's coming from with that.

I just think that Dope is a terrible example. When most people think of ARTPOP, they don't even think of Dope anyway.

It's science, bitch

Maybe you're right. And well yeah, it would be kinda difficult to properly articulate something like that without thinking it over first.

I cried when I read the part about depression. She gets it. I know people like to doubt Gaga about her mental health but it's completely real. I'm glad she said what she said, and I'm glad that she was able to pull herself back up in the past year.

It's funny how she has all these explanations why people didn't like the music that much. In my opinion it just wasn't up to par what she did before.

Poor Gaga, she tries so hard but some fans just aren't pleased.

This problem isn't with Gaga, it's with those people. They haven't yet realized that perfection does not exist, the definition of perfection is "without flaws" and if any of Gaga's songs were like that then EVERYONE would enjoy them but not everyone does, therefore perfection is simply a myth.

I've always been here for Gaga, fiercely defending her during the ARTPOP era when even her own fans wanted to drive knives into her back, you know it's funny because weren't most of you saying you wanted a commercial-sounding album with ARTPOP but yet complaining that she wasn't edgey or innovative anymore when the album dropped?

Well, regardless of any opinion, Gaga will do what she wants at the end of the day and there's nothing anyone can do about it, it's her career not yours. But I feel that some of you really need to be thankful that she continues at all after the whole ARTPOP debacle, she could have simply said "I'm done" and quit music but she's a strong woman so she pushed through it, smiling even when she was in pain because she wanted you to believe in her the way she's believed in you. And how did you repay her? Well, we all know that.

But I've supported her this long and as long as she is happy, I am happy.

Yeah. And the explanation she's giving in this one is like so SO far from the reason people didn't like the music. She just doesn't.....get it, it seems.

Why would she choose ARTPOP as an example when she has BTW and TFM that has personal and dark songs too?

Because it's still her baby, and I don't think she'll look at it differently despite some fans shrugging it off.
