Alien means foreign. Someone from a different country is foreign. Something from a different planet is foreign. Honestly no matter how you try to sugarcoat it, it's disgusting. Just throwing a word with a negative connotation to describe people is so low. It's not a legal term, where have you heard that be used in a civilized and proper discussion? It is very unrealistic though. There's not way this is happening if he becomes president anyway. The most concerning part for me is the birthright citizenship part. WHY should children born IN the US not be citizens? That is ****ing stupid. Just because your parents are illegal aliens doesn't mean you don't have the right to citizenship Yes.. It is a legal term: My own mother became a US resident before coming here and her resident card says "Resident Alien" and then she became a US citizen years later. The legal term is a naturalized alien for someone who was born in another country and has now become a US citizen. No matter how offended people get this IS a legal definition. The legal term is a naturalized alien for someone who was born in another country and has now become a US citizen. No matter how offended people get this IS a legal definition. I honestly didn't even know that existed. My grandmother got her residency but doesn't have that term used to describe her anywhere. The word alien has no negative connotation, it means foreign. It is a legal term, and you are actually most likely to hear it in a civilized, proper discussion. If I commit a crime in Mexico, I won't get out of their prison till someone from the US comes and gets me. Plus pay the fine ect.... If its a bad enough crime, I ain't getting out of Mexican prison .... period... and those prisons aren't comfy and cosey... like a cat in a sil, I observe life, moving and still. And the word does have a negative connotation, meaning when used, people are used to it being used to describe a being from another planet, which has not made contact with humans. If people were more civilized, they'd actually use the word foreign, not alien. No where in my formal discussions do people use the word alien because it sparks negativity. That is also why people refer to ETs as Aliens, too. I know political correctness has a limit but I also think the term "alien" shouldn't be used. It just doesn't really sound respectful because when someone says the term "alien" you're bound to think of an extraterrestrial because that's what the term "alien" is almost ALWAYS associated with. It's time we stop referring to humans as something exotic and as a nuisance and start referring to them as people. I'm sure it's not too difficult or chaotic to refer to them as illegal immigrants. Just because the term "alien" is ingrained and legal does not mean it can't be changed. I'm sure other insensitive words have been changed or refined in the laws of countries, including America.
