he adds near the end "how I miss your warmth" I wonder did it just come to his mind in that moment.

I wonder does he miss Jonna and does he think about all those things while singing songs from VD. We can interpret his songs however we want, but he knows about each verse what he meant by it...I keep thinking, how that feels like? For him.

here he says "Sub Rosa" and it made me think of @Sister

I would love to hear this song live now too.

I just rewatched this, is it 'sinulle - danny' interviewing them?

that setlist looks amazing, but it's sad how Ville thinks some songs "just don't work well live". :noparty:

Is it lack of confidence? Mige said "you can't sing that one sober", about Love You Like I do. lol

Guess we'll never hear it live. :(

So many songs to do, but especially Love You Like I do. ugh...

That does look like that guy is interviewing them, good catch.

I noticed. I am sure he would, he wanted to marry Jonna. I read him saying that Susanna was his one true love though, always and he wanted to catch her again and never even was angry that she left him. It could have been an earlier interview than his life with Jonna though.

Isn't love grand!

I love this video!

@Sister I found the guy who uploaded these studio videos on twitter and he promised to upload them for us tomorrow.

We're only missing 2 videos; BABL live and this one

so beautiful.

Yes I never knew how he ended the relationship with Susanna. I wish he finds love soon, you can see that he'd even like to be a dad... I think I read that Kosmo has 3 kids!

Wow, that is great. Wasn't WLSTD one of these too? That is great @lego kudos to You.x

and I agree about Ville and the having children. I know nothing about Kosmo really. That is cute. I love kids.

Here is that article where he mentions Susanna and others on this link, at the bottom:

BRAVO
What do you prefer:
Gin or tonic?
-I hate nor gin nor tonic.
Steven Spilberg or David Lynch?
-There's no much difference between them.

City or village?

Pigs or swans?

Love or hate?

How can you explain, that you're more popular in Russia than in Finland?

Don't have any ideas. Really, we are quite popular in Finland, we tour there successfully, we sell a lot of CD's there. Isn't it the index of the popularity? Though, of course, we can't say we're number one in Finland.

If one listens to your songs, he will say you're very depressive and gloomy. How do you get out of depressions?

I drink vodka. Why are you laughing at me, I'm telling the truth!!! No, I'm not running away from the reality. But it's easier to say everybody '**** off' and start everything from the very beginning if you are drunk. Sometimes it's enough just to sleep well and begin to struggle against your problems, though. But it's a way only for abstainers!

Do you find your inspiration in drinking?

No. Inspiration comes from life, from some observations. You have to be in a definite condition - nearly on the side of the craziness. And no foreign substances can help you achieve this condition.

Your songs are full of symbols and metaphors.

No. People try find deeper meaning in all simple subjects. They can distort the phrase 'I love you' that it will sound as 'I hate you'.

We have an expression 'hot Finnish boy'. Can you say that it's about you?

Finnish - definitely. But I'm not hot. (laughs) I'm not expressive, I'm quite calm and sedate. Did you mean this?

Yes. But there's a stereotype that Finns are rather slow. Do you also have this life temp?

When I was younger I was friskier.

And now you're an old man with false teeth, aren't you?

(laughs) I'm still quite cheerful! I simply understood that I won't be able to do everything in my life, doesn't matter if I hurry or not. I'm in the emotional maturity

What can make you change?

I don't change often, it happens automatically - in a natural way. At the end of 2001 my girlfriend Susanna left me. I fell into the deepest black hole in my life and even cancelled a tour. But pain cleaned me. I became another person

Are you ambitious?

No. All I need is continuing doing that what I'm doing now. Really, it's rather difficult to stay at this level of popularity - we are not Rolling Stones. They're on the top for 40 years and we'll have to try to be remembered in 10 years.

Are Rolling Stones your idols from your childhood?

No, definitely, I respect them, but I was a fan of Kiss, Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin. Then I liked new-wave: Cure, Duran-Duran, Depeche Mode. Reggey, country, brit-pop. I've listened to lots of bands in my life! Really, if you want to be a musician, you should listen to music a lot to take the best from each band or to avoid plagiarism.

And which modern musicians do you prefer?

Most of the bands are secondary or play s--tty music. I can name only "Queens Of The Stone Age"

And are HIM original?

I can't speak about advantages and disadvantages of HIM, I'm an interested person. Do you want me to do a self-advertisement?

What do you fear?

I fear not to be able to fall asleep tonight. I fear flying by plane. I don't travel only by bus or by train, but I won't go into the plane until I drink vodka people will think I'm an old Finnish alcoholic!

Don't worry, we'll write you're a knight on the white horse.

another, same link:

I write my songs while I'm pissing!
-Is it true that songs from Love Metal are full of anger and rage because you were angry at your ex-girlfriend when you were writing them?
-Susanna remains my great love! I have never been really angry at her because she left me. Now we're trying to reestablish our relationships. I hope to conquer her again! We've been together for five years - though we have never been able to be together for more than three months. And the hard sound is the result of our work, not the expression of my feelings. I write melodies and lyrics alone, but the feeling of the song opens to us as a band.
-When and how do you write songs?
-Mostly doing the toilet: taking shower or pissing. I'm aiming into the lavatory pan and suddenly I realize that I'm singing a new tune.
-Do you piss beyond because of the excitement?
-No, it happens seldom
-How do you write the lyrics?
-It's a hard work. My lyrics are the feelings expressed in words. I have to listen to myself a lot to find the strings that can explain everything that I feel.
-All of your lyrics are about love, death and pain
-Yes, but I always show them from different points of view. You shouldn't understand them so verbally, they are just a harvest of my fantasy. Love and death are just symbols, the real idea of my songs is the search of the meaning of life.
-HIM means His Infernal Majesty. Are you in a relationship with Devil?
-No, I don't believe in Satan. But the tales and stories about the Devil have always been interesting for me. Evil is a part of us. Everybody should accept it! Nobody can be completely good.
-Which are your dark sides?
-Drinking! But the times when we were getting completely wasted are gone. Now we tour to play music, not to drink.
-Is it true that you worked in your father's s-x shop?
-Yes. Once my physics teacher came there to buy some s-x stuff. We both got red when we saw each other.

These are old-

omg she left him in 2001...so he was probably crying here, it's not just fans imagination

but I can't find anything about cancelling tour...although DS&BH tour seemed pretty short.

I wonder why she left him. It must have been hard trying to hide the relationship because of the label and fans.

This interview seems to be from Love Metal era so it's before he met Jonna. Or maybe he met her, since she was journalist, but they had nothing going on.

Just remember he once said "I don't date. I fall in love and spend time with that person".

"What else have you got?

Ville valo: “The heart on my right wrist, some stuff on my legs, a heartagram on my neck and a letter ‘s’ on my chest. I did it as a birthday present for my girlfriend Suzanna but when we fall out of love, as we do every now and then, I claim it’s for Satan or whatever starts with an ‘s’. "

he later covered it...

That is terrible.

What do you make of the lyrics to Bleed Well? In that other interview, it says that that song was too personal and he wouldn't talk about it. Just curious.

I'm so bad at interpreting lyrics.:flop:

"By death we were wed" and mentioning of church makes me think of their engagement and ruined plans of marriage. 'Demons to kill' could be both towards Jonna and Ville looking in the mirror, saying that to himself maybe?

"if you're gonna bleed then bleed well", whatever he meant by that.

What do you think?

Here is a great interview, really informative. I thought it might be that one with the fan quote and pool playing, but it is not. Good read.

Thank you so much for this, I wanted to know more about rehab, I was looking at some pics he looked horrible...I was trying to figure out pre- and post- rehab photos...

this tho

"When the record was done I was a wreck. We did three gigs in England that were crap. We hadn’t toured for a year and I was so ****ing nervous before the shows because I have a tendency to forget the lyrics. What I then did was to drink to calm my nerves and I was drunk on stage – again.

Then I forget even more lyrics and I almost panic and worry that I will forget the next line. I think Barbra Streisand had the same problem. She didn’t perform live for twenty years after having messed up a song and I don’t think she was on anything at that time. You just end up in a bad circle and you think “am I gonna forget the next line too?”

The third gig in England was really good. The first one was terrible for me personally and the second was better than the first but still really useless. In such a case it’s easy, or at least it is for me, to try to calm your nerves with booze. I should have done the opposite but there was no time. If your daily consumption consists of eight pints you can’t just quit like that, you need to go through withdrawal."

So sad.

I think that that song is his ode to himself, his reflecting about how close he was to ending his life, mastering himself. It is all very sad and regretful. Maybe that song helped him come from it and feel strong.

These quotes and interviews:

It is a shame that all of that has happened with his success and that he does draw the pain into his lyrics, no wonder you read some things that he says or you hear him say and then you can kind of see it in his performances, even lately. I hope that he is more on the other side these days and more "through it all" than still having a hard time and feeling nervous and unadjusted. Everyone needs warmth and heart. I am sure he isn't perfect, but he has really hit rock bottom before. Both ladies seem alright now, I have seen both on facebook. He looks great now too, he seems very sensitive, more than others, I think.

Is he the super fan of this band? He is lucky and this is a great interview. Isn't he in his own band as well?

That setlist is great, but I can also see what they mean about how songs play live and go well with all of the others. They schooled him, lol.

And Ville's tongue action:P
