One Five Ten 70
Idk, is the $6 million paid to her or her label, if her label, she will get the normal artist 10% (maybe more cause she's Taylor) making it 600k. If 1989 sold 1.3m copies at $10 each, that's $13m, or 1.3m to Taylor in her first WEEK, at the least. + single sales + vevo streams etc. Not to mention the advertising deals, like through Target etc. If we look at it from the other side, Spotify's main positive is artist exposure, drawing people to the show through giving everyone exposure to their music. I think we can all agree that Taylor doesn't need that to sell her tickets, she is totally overexposed right now, and I think $6m for the next year for having 1989 available for FREE to many people through Spotify isn't really adequate - even if that is an equivalent of 6 million sales of 1989 of profit to Taylor (assuming all that profit does go to Taylor, if she gets the 600k cut like I said, then that would only be 600k sales of 1989 lost, and that's really no skin off her back at this point). It's all very confusing, but I do think Spotify's the way to go if you're an artist with 1 hit looking for more etc.
Valextra 58
I still don't understand why people are so bothered by that, she has her reasons, it's her choice. I'm not even a far of her and I don't even care, but she has a good point in this decision in my opinion.
Mr Josh 3
Does anyone else think she comes across like she's trying way too hard It was cute the first day but now it screams marketing ploy. The whole Spotify vs Swift case got (over)publicized everywhere, giving her new album attention to audiences that wouldn't give a damn about her otherwise (tech blogs etc). artpopmess 369
Of course Spotify would make a big deal out of this, just like Netflix would if WB pulled Big Bang Theory episodes off their site. Taylor is wrong anyway. Nobody likes that Spotify pays them dust for the songs but they do it, especially new bands and singers to get some exposure by having their songs in playlists. It's not like she needs the money to survive don't follow my instagram (trying out reverse psychology)
TEANUS 15,085
Does Taylor really think that keeping her music off of Spotify is gonna keep people from getting it for free? I think it's REALLY stupid for her to take her whole catalog off of Spotify. I actually listen to a song on Spotify, and if I end up liking it a lot I'll buy it on iTunes. That's extra money for the artist because they're getting money from my sale and Spotify. It's a win win for everyone  British social ladies with upturned pinkies, glasses clinking // xoxoTEANUS

Guest
It's all about making the audience buy her albums and not stream them (more money). Simple as that.
Raikov 183
If I stream her album on Spotify, she gets something, especially the more I listen to it. Since I don't own her music, I can decide to buy it afterwards on any platform (as I've done for Natalia Kills and Charli XCX, among others). If I pirate it, she gets nothing. I own the music so I have no incentive to buy it. Spotify may not pay her as much as she would like, but it's certainly many times more than she would get through pirating. So far, nobody has really succeeded in stopping pirating... why remove a legal route where you earn money? Apparently VEVO pays her more and people pay zilch to watch her music there, so the issue is how much she is being paid. I agree Spotify pays a pittance, but I feel making a show out of this situation isn't helping.

It's a win win for everyone You frequent music forums though, you understand the implications and connect with artists on a level that you want to give them the sale. Most people don't. Most of the general public just think "well I have it all right here on Spotify, why would I ever buy it?" and we can see that in how music sales, both digitally and physically, fell at an even faster pace once Spotify became more well known. Take a moment to think of just flexibility, love, and trust~

Princess Die 1,864
I always knew she was a greedy c*nt. Here's my theory as to why she is so pressed: She barely missed Britney's record. She feels cheated out of it because instead of buying her album, people streamed it, which caused her to not get as many sales and thus miss the record. She's well aware that the only way people will remember her album 10 years from now is if she were to surpass the record. She is really trying too hard. Nod if you wanna make love with the enemy. ❤
