DiscoHeaven23 35,007
Woahhhhh, i just heard on the radio that it's 2016! That means the 2006 VMAs were 10 years ago! Let's take a look back The 2006 VMAs took place at Radio City Music Hall in New York City. The first time since "the kiss" in 2003. Who could forget when Fergie performed at the pre-show and began her Dutchess era. (sidenote: why was she downgraded to the pre-show?) Artists strutted their best 2006 fashions on the red carpet A young RiRi attended her 2nd VMAs Christina Aguilera went back to basics in a classic Hollywood look. While B'Day era Beyonce shimmered in silvery-white Shakira's hips did not lie in this sultry black dress. And she even made friends with The Dutchess herself P!nk looked ultra-glam Justin Timberlake came through in an oversized fitting suit. Ciara was still relevant. James Blunt looked beautiful(?) Amy Lee of Evanescence was there Jenny from the block showed up...even though her career was in free fall. Oh, and Pharrell was there The show was hosted by Jack Black The show was opened by Justin Timberlake singing "My Love" and "SexyBack" And Shakira lit up the place with "Hips Don't Lie" And OK GO recreated their music video for "Here It Goes Again" Beyonce werked that trench coat fashion during her performance of "Ring The Alarm" And Christina Aguilera brought the room to tears during her performance of "Hurt" During the rest of the show: Lil Kim was let out of jail to present an award Rihanna and Ne-Yo presented the award for "Ringtone of the Year" (which went to For Minor for "Where'd You Go") Amy Lee and Jared Leto presented the award for "Best Group Video" (which went to All American Rejects for "Move Along") James Blunt won "Best Male Video" for "You're Beautiful" Kelly Clarkson won "Best Female Video" for "Because of You", but didn't show up P!nk won "Best Pop Video" for "Stupid Girls", which was handed out by Nicole Richie who was mocked in the video. AWKWARD Beyonce won "Best R&B Video" for "Check on It" The Black Eyed Peas won "Best Hip/Hop Video" for "My Humps" And Nicole Scherzinger...I mean The Pussycat Dolls won "Best Dance Video" for "Buttons"
Pablo 7,490
What a crazy trip back in time, I was in middle school! Fashion was gross back then, I see they were still holding on to early 2000's looks. Don't visit my profile

KinneyUnderYou 0
@DiscoHeaven23 I forgot to mention my original comment on the thread. It's amazing, as usual. But, this one is really unique, and a really huge throwback. You made me relive it. I was six during the 2006 VMA's, but you made me witness it again. Thank you

thierryrreiht 20,834
Wow that's when u really see that 2008 was a MAJOR turning point in Pop Culture *hint hint* 2007 was just a copy and paste from 2006, though more hip hop if I remember well.. Pure Pop was not that big.. But then someone taught us how to just dance it all away
