Lady Gaga says her main aim with the new album is to make her dad proud. Gaga told KIIS FM's Jo Jo Wright that Joanne, named in memory of her late aunt, is her most personal record yet because it was inspired by the most classic story of her life and helped her understand her father.

"I never met her, she died when she was 19," Gaga said of her dad's sister. "I saw letters between my father and her. It was heartbreaking because I have a sister and I thought, 'Man if I just came home from college one day and my parents told she was dead.' I can't even… I thought to myself, 'Am I ever gonna know my real dad?' I feel like like my dad probably died that day. When you go through something like that it changes you forever."

"I just want to make my dad proud," she added. "The truth is, when you turn to your dad and you wrote The Fame and The Fame Monster, which are great records, it's awesome, you know. You do this whole thing in the world, it explodes. Your dad's so proud. Great. Then you do Born This Way and my father was mostly proud of me for its message. And then you do ARTPOP and you do something for yourself and your dad's proud of that. But then you do something that's connected to your whole family history and to the world."

Gaga continued: "When I wrote this record I wanted for my fans and the people that weren't to be friends. Somebody that loves that kind of music thinks, 'I would never get along with that person. I wouldn't be cool with that person. I don't hang with people that like country music. I don't hang with people that like pop music. I don't hang with people who like dance or funk or soul or electronic.' I just put it all together in her spirit hoping that it would bring people together. And now I look at my dad it's like now he's really proud. Because it's the most classic story of my life. He just said to me, 'I don't know how you need like knew what I would have said if I had a chance to say goodbye.'"

Lady Gaga has previewed a new song "Million Reasons" ahead of her first Dive Bar Tour show in Nashville. A snippet of Gaga performing the song live at Brooklyn's Sunny Bar is featured in the new promo spot for the mini-tour, sponsored by Bud Light. Co-penned with country singer-songwriter Hillary Lindsey, "Million Reasons" serves as the first promotional single from Gaga's upcoming album Joanne, due out on October 21st.

In an exclusive interview with Yahoo!, Gaga describes "Million Reasons" as "a country song mixed with funk and rock 'n' roll. You would never imagine it would sound that way... the feeling underneath the record is it's almost got like a little bit of a hip-hop feeling. But at the same time, it’s not a hip-hop song. It’s kind of like I just had no boundaries making music — and neither do any of the other people we were working with. It was kind of like what feels right, what hits the best, what’s going to get everybody in their stomach and their heart."

While her new album Joanne is influenced by a wide variety of genres, from rock and country to funk and soul, Lady Gaga wants you to know that it's still a very pop record. Speaking to Ryan Seacrest, Gaga said that the much buzzed-about album, due out on October 21st, is filled with "sugary-sweet hooks," but it's not your normal pop project.

"At the center of it all, it is a pop record," she explained. "I will carve it into my chest... because I don't know if people forget this about me, or if it's just the way I am, but I'm never aiming to make a pop record that is of the status quo or what's happening in music. My aim is to always be different and to push things further. Not necessarily forward or backwards, but just push them in a new direction and it alway has a positive message behind it."

"I'm just completely involved with every aspect of it," Gaga continued. "I don't just walk into a studio and someone goes, 'Here's the record. We think you should sing this. Go in the booth, let's see how it sounds. The tracks done.' That's not how it works for me. I go in the studio and I have nothing and me and Mark sit there and stare at each other, 'What are we going to do now?' and then we make a record, and I work on the arrangements. I co-produced the whole album, I co-wrote the whole album, if not all the music coming from my soul and spirit."

She added: "It's one of those things where I kind of found myself in interviews bringing myself back to the message of The Fame, because it's almost like I need to remind people that I'm not interested in making normal pop music. I never have been and my interest has always been to burst the bubble and be the fist that gashes through the window because that's what's exciting and fun and it's what I love to do."

Lady Gaga has previewed a new song from her upcoming album Joanne! Mother Monster sent fans into meltdown when she played a tiny snippet of "Just Another Day" during her interview with Ryan Seacrest on Tuesday morning. "Just another way prove I love you and it's hard today, I'll lay back in my chair and find a way," Gaga sang.

"That's the last song on the record," Gaga told Ryan. "It's probably the most New York-glam-pop song on the album. It's the one that airs from David Bowie, Mark Bolan, and then maybe from some like obscure, London metal stuff, the Beatles. It also kind of airs from the electroclash movement from New York and that's kind of when I was coming up, was right after that.

Lady Gaga stopped by the Amp Radio studios in Los Angeles on Monday to talk about her upcoming album Joanne and perform a beautiful acoustic version of its lead single "Perfect Illusion."

"The album has a lot of different vibes on it," Gaga told Carson Daly of Joanne. "There's country, there's folk on it, there's dance on it, funk, there's rock, there's a lot of pop songs with all these different influences of music. What I wanted to do was bring all different types of people together, that love different things. And have somebody that didn't think they could normally be friends with somebody that loves country music be friends with them."

Lady Gaga's upcoming album Joanne will be released on October 21st. To promote the record, Gaga will embark on a three-date dive bar tour, sponsored by Bud Light. The first show will kick off at a mystery bar in Nashville on October 5th and will be live streamed on Bud Light's official Facebook page.

Lady Gaga made an appearance on FOX Sports on Sunday morning to officially announce that she will be headlining the 2017 Super Bowl Half Time Show. Decked out in a football-themed outfit, Gaga told Curt Menafee and Michael Strahan that she cried when she found out she had been invited to perform on America's biggest stage.

"Maybe it's too sentimental, but I just burst into tears," Gaga recalled. "I just cried so hard. I just kept saying, 'I can't believe it, I can't believe it. I've been planning this since I was 4 so I know exactly what I'm going to do."

She continued: "That night, it will be special. For me it’s all about giving to the fans and bringing people together that wouldn’t normally come together. The thing is it's such a big world stage in terms of how many people see it and it's been done so many times, I think the challenge is to look at it and say, 'What can I do differently? How can I elevate certain little things here and there and also make it about the music?' I really want to sing for everyone."

Lady Gaga has chosen dive bars over arenas to promote new songs from her upcoming album, Joanne. The singer announced Sunday that she will play in a number of bars beginning this week to showcase the album's "raw Americana" sound and return to her roots. 

The three-date mini-tour, sponsored by Bud Light, will open in an undisclosed location, with Gaga singing the lead single "Perfect Illusion" and a never-before-heard song "Million Reasons" from the album. Two more secret bar shows will be held on October 20th and 27th. All performances will be streamed live on Bud Light’s Facebook page at a time to be announced.

"Which is why I love this dive bar tour so much, because I get to go perform these songs and really look my fans in the eyes when I’m singing to them and really try to have a more natural human experience," Gaga said. 

She continued: "This record was about me trying to understand my father, and his grief. It's also a record about me trying to understand myself and wondering where I'm going next in life. Because truly, the thing that I'm searching for the most is to feel connected to humanity, to feel connected as a person. So Joanne is like, you know, Lady Gaga if you erase all the fame."

Gaga's new album Joanne is scheduled for release on October 21st. The record, which Gaga said crosses over country, funk, pop and more, has its roots in her early days and "the music that lit up my heart when I first started writing."

The rumors are true - Lady Gaga will headline the 2017 Super Bowl halftime show! The singer has officially signed on perform at American football's biggest event that will take place at NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas on February 5th, 2017.

This will be Gaga's second time taking on the NFL stage. Earlier this year, she wowed the country with her stunning rendition of the national anthem, which drew universal praise from fans and critics alike.

"This is one of the highest honors of my career," she explained at the time. "I get a chance to sing for all the athletes — who have been working so hard their whole lives for this moment — the coaches, as well as the fans in the stands who are waiting for this moment. I think it marks what being an American is all about."

Lady Gaga is returning to the UK! The singer is scheduled to perform songs from her upcoming album Joanne on the The Graham Norton Show on Friday, October 14th, Digital Spy reports. This will be Gaga's third appearance on the popular show. She first performed on Graham Norton during the promo campaign for her third album Born This Way, and then returned two years later to sing "Venus" and "Do What U Want" from her most recent pop release, ARTPOP.

Lady Gaga's brand new single "Perfect Illusion" has landed at No. 15 on Billboard's Hot 100 chart. The track also debuts at No. 2 on the Digital Songs sales chart with 100,000 first-week downloads and at No. 25 on the Streaming Songs chart with 8.3 million U.S. streams.

This is Lady Gaga's 23rd Hot 100 chart entry and her 16th top twenty hit.

Lady Gaga has revealed it was her label that chose "Perfect Illusion" as the lead single from her new album. Gaga told iHeartRadio that while she's writing, making and singing her music, she isn't always the one making decisions on which songs should be released as singles.

“I actually didn't choose it," Gaga told DJ Romeo while co-hosting iHeartRadio's Countdown. "I write the music and make the music and sing music, but I didn't choose the single. The single was chosen by the record label and a lot of people that work with me. We all decided as a team and together that we liked it as the first song."

She continued: "It's not necessarily an example of the rest of the record. But it has a strong fire to it. I love the statement. I love what it's talking about. It feels to me like a message that is timeless, but also really modern to how we experience love nowadays. It’s so hard to know if people are real or not with social media and the Internet."

Lady Gaga has finished working on her upcoming album Joanne. The singer has confirmed that the highly-anticipated album is done with a series of Instagram pictures taken as she and Mark Ronson were putting the final touches on the record. "Summer camp is over. Album done," Gaga captioned one of the photos.

"I've never been this finished with an album at the time I was releasing the first single," Gaga said while promoting her brand new single "Perfect Illusion" in the UK earlier this month. "I'm usually still cutting down tracks and things, but not for this. This we have pretty homed in."

Lady Gaga stopped by the iHeartRadio studios to talk about her brand new single "Perfect Illusion" and explain the meaning behind its lyrics.

"I think the most obvious meaning is how love is the most intoxicating drug in the world," Gaga said. It can just make you feel so high that you don't even realize that you're in a relationship that it isn't real. You know, our modern struggle with human connection when it comes to social media and endless running of images on Instagram and Twitter and other social media, we are all kind of creating these perfect illusions of ourselves that we're either trying to keep up with or maybe having trouble keeping up with other people's illusions and unable to find what's authentic in the sea of all of that."

The “Perfect Illusion” music video is almost here! Lady Gaga took to her social media accounts on Friday to announce that the visual for her brand new single will drop during the season premiere of Scream Queens on Tuesday, September 20th. Gaga also shared a sneak peek at the vid, which was directed by her longtime collaborator Ruth Hogben.

Lady Gaga will cover one of Amy Winehouse's signature songs to support the late singer's foundation. The recording will be featured on Amy's YouTube channel, set up to raise money for the Amy Winehouse Foundation.

"We've got this new YouTube channel where stars all over the world are going to do an Amy track and however many hits we get after the first 2 million, we start making money for the Foundation," Amy's father Mitch Winehouse told The Sun. "Leona Lewis is going to do one, Lady Gaga will do one, and a few other stars."

After hearing Amy had passed away in 2011, Gaga was one of the many musicians to publicly express their sadness and grief. "I am just so devastated and so sad and I really could not speak for 48 hours straight," she said on The View. "I just think that the most unfortunate thing about it all is the way the media spins things like 'here we can learn from Amy’s death.' I don't feel that Amy needed to learn any lessons. I felt that the lesson was for the world to be kinder to the superstar. Everybody was so hard on her and everything that I knew about her was that she was the most lovely and nice and kind woman."

Shortly after announcing the record's title and release date on Zane Lowe's Beats 1 radio show, Gaga revealed the names of some of the album's tracks: "Sinner's Prayer," "John Wayne," "Joanne," and "Ayo," along with the already-confirmed "Perfect Illusion" and "Hey Girl."

Of Joanne's title track, Gaga said: "For me it's the real heart and soul of the record. We wrote that song and the decision to ultimately name the album Joanne was in tribute to my father's sister who died when she was 19. The death of her in his family and his life really left a scar and a wound that never healed."

The song "John Wayne" is about Gaga's "incessant need to run after wild men" and getting bored of "the same old John." Gaga says, "This is a fantastic song we did, Josh Homme's guitars on it are just out of control."

Joanne also features a collaboration with singer-songwriter Father John Misty on "Sinner's Prayer": "This song is about singing to a man, telling him "Look, I don't want to break the heart of any other man but you, but I know that I'm a sinner."

Finally, Gaga revealed that "Ayo" might be her favorite on the album.

And while Lady Gaga isn't featured in the premiere episode, she will make an appearance later on the show playing a "very unique" character.

If you thought you knew what Lady Gaga's upcoming album will sound like based on the brand new single "Perfect Illusion," you're in for a surprise. While promoting the song on U.S. radio, Gaga revealed that each track on the much buzzed-about record has its own feeling and "Illusion" is not indicative of its sound.

"I think you really gotta hear the record," Gaga told Sway. "Because the thing is, I've seen people's descriptions of the type of music 'Perfect Illusion' is and I'm going like, 'What?' Because when you made it, you don't think of it as a certain genre or type, it's just a song. So I wouldn't say that song is indicative of the sound on the whole record. But it definitely is part of it and each song has its own story and its own feeling, and it all goes together. And it's a party."
