Lady Gaga has joined nearly 200 entertainers and musicians in signing Billboard magazine's open letter asking Congress for a gun reform. In the letter, dozens of celebrities are calling on Congress to block suspected terrorists from buying guns and require background checks for every gun sale. According to Billboard, Gaga was one of the first to sign the petition.

"Music always has been celebrated communally, on dancefloors and at concert halls," the letter reads. "But this life-affirming ritual, like so many other daily experiences — going to school or church or work — now is threatened, because of gun violence in this country. The one thing that connects the recent tragedies in Orlando is that it is far too easy for dangerous people to get their hands on guns."

The open letter appears in the latest issue of Billboard.

Earlier: Lady Gaga is teaming up with the Dalai Lama to talk kindness and compassion at a conference in Indianapolis. The singer, actress, and activist will be joined by His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama of Tibet to address the nation's mayors at The U.S. Conference of Mayors (USCM) 84th Annual Meeting on Sunday, June 26th. The onstage conversation, moderated by journalist Ann Curry, will feature a Q&A session with questions from mayors as well as young people from around the country.

"I am honored to be sitting down with the Dalai Lama this Sunday to have a conversation about kindness to 300 of our important US mayors," Gaga said.

Lady Gaga is among the 180 artists who have joined a petition calling for a digital copyright reform. Gaga, Taylor Swift, Sir Paul McCartney, Carole King, U2 and dozens of other big names signed an open letter to Congress asking lawmakers to rewrite the Digital Millennium Copyright Act that is used by websites such as YouTube "to grow and generate huge profits while songwriters' and artists' earnings continue to diminish."

The petition is aimed at the law's loophole that safeguards services like YouTube against copyright infringement litigation so long as they respond to takedown notices from rightsholders and remove the material in question. Since YouTube is such a massive platform, many uploads go unnoticed and it's extremely difficult for owners to police their content, the petition claims.

"The existing laws threaten the continued viability of songwriters and recording artists to survive from the creation of music. Aspiring creators shouldn't have to decide between making music and making a living," the open letter reads.

Diane Warren says that "Til It Happens to You," which she co-wrote with Lady Gaga, should have won the Academy Award at this year's show instead of Sam Smith's Bond song that "no one really heard."

Speaking to Larry King, the 8-time Oscar-nominated songwriter said, "I cried twice: [Gaga's performance] and when 'The winner is... not my song.' But I cried more after she performed. Everybody in the audience was on their feet. I think everybody thought I'd win, including me. [The winner was] the Sam Smith song from James Bond that no one really heard, I think it was shocking to him as well."

"I mean, not that no one heard it, but I think the fact is that my song has such a life of is on and it will last a long time," Warren added.

	Oh, Diane!

During the interview, Diane also revealed that she co-wrote a couple of songs that might appear on Gaga's new album, due out later this year: "There's a couple [of songs] that she loves, so hopefully they'll be on there."

Lady Gaga might star in Bradley Cooper's directorial debut, a remake of 1937 film A Star Is Born. The Golden Globe-winning actress is in talks for the female lead opposite Cooper, a new report reveals. According to Deadline, the stars "tested and the studio loved the results." Negotiations are expected to happen shortly with production of the movie set for early 2017.

Warner Bros. has been working on the project for over five years. Clint Eastwood was originally set to direct the movie with singer Beyoncé headlinging it, but they both dropped out of the project. Due to that, the project was stalled until Cooper picked it up. Rumors that Gaga would be replacing Beyoncé as the female lead surfaced last month when the singer was caught by paparazzi on a motorcycle ride to a restaurant with Bradley.

Lady Gaga took the stage in front of Los Angeles' City Hall to honor those lost in the Orlando mass shootings at Pulse nightclub on Saturday night. Dressed down in all black, Gaga gave an emotional speech calling the shooting "an attack on humanity itself" before she read the names of those lost.

"I know that you have all been feeling a tremendous range of emotions, since we’ve all heard about this horrible hateful attack on Orlando and on your and our community," Gaga said. "As we have now witnessed the largest mass shooting in American history, I can't help but feel that this level of hatred, like all prejudicial crimes, this is an attack on humanity itself. This is an attack on everyone. Tonight, I gather humbly with you, as a human being, in peace, in sincerity, in commitment, in solidarity, to take a real moment and mourn the tragic loss of these innocent, beautiful people."

In a new clip of the interview, which airs on June 12th, Gaga talks about the pressure of being famous and argues with Curtis that it is possible to make the public see that famous artists "are real people."

"I don’t think I could think of a single thing that"s more isolating than being famous," aga said. "It's almost impossible for people even to probably look at my career and the things I’ve done and think, 'Oh, she didn’t want [that] — of course she wanted to be famous, of course she wanted all that attention.' It’s just, creative expression is what I am and I would've been doing this whether I became famous or not."

A new Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett album is coming sooner than you expected! During a show in Idaho, the 89-year-old jazz legend announced that a follow-up to their 2014 smash collaboration will be out later this year. Tony added that the record will be released to celebrate his 90th birthday, which is in August.

Last year, Bennett told Vulture that the upcoming collaboration will be a collection of all Cole Porter-penned standards. "We're doing an album. It's going to be all Cole Porter songs," he said. "He was the best writer of all of them in the Great American Songbook. Highly intelligent. We're going to have a lot of fun doing that."

But the new jazz album is not the only new music Gaga is working on at the moment. Mother Monster is also busy recording a brand new pop album, which is due out in 2016 as well.

"I love balancing jazz and pop, I basically have multiple personalities anyway (shocking reveal!) so that rebellious and extreme side of me loves to go back and forth, I never get bored," Gaga said in an exclusive Q&A with Gaga Daily. "Somedays I feel quiet, others I need to rage. Those parts of me will always be there, it's my two-toned soul. Cheek to Cheek will not be my last jazz album, and ARTPOP was not my last pop album. I have many years ahead of me to make music and I feel stronger than ever, like I did when I first moved to Hollywood to make it. I'm a fighter again. Put me in the ring. Ring the bell, I'm ready life!"

RedOne says that one of the songs he produced was supposed to be released as the lead single from Lady Gaga's upcoming album, but that plan was later scrapped.

"I don't know where she is musically or mentally right now," he said. "We tried to recreate the magic together in the studio and I think we have some amazing songs, but then again, she's very busy. At some point, one of [the songs] was going to be the first single, but then it changed. I don't know what happened."

RedOne added that recording the first two albums with Gaga was "magical."

"I met he before she was signed to a label," he recalled. "There was no pressure then and she did things without asking questions. After The Fame she became so famous and the circumstances were very different. It wasn't easy in the studio, there were always lots of people around. It became something else and I couldn't continue that way. I can't deny that the first two albums were magical. It was really easy. Working with many artist is easy, but with Gaga, it was something absolutely magical."

RedOne says he and Gaga have recorded eight songs for her upcoming album.

Speaking to 92 PRO-FM, the Morrocan producer confirmed that he's working with Lady Gaga on her new project, adding: "We did eight songs so far, let's see what happens." It has not been yet confirmed how many of those songs, if any, will make the album, which is scheduled for release later this year.

RedOne is the man behind some of Lady Gaga's best-selling hits, including "Just Dance," "Poker Face," "Bad Romance," and "Alejandro." Aside from the singles, he's also produced such gems as "Scheiße," "Monster," and "Hair." Gaga's 2013 album ARTPOP was her first not to feature any tracks produced by RedOne, however, he did co-write the fan favorite "Gypsy."

"With Gaga, I'm fully committed until we're done. We're just going to work on writing songs until we get hopefully the best album of the decade," RedOne said of working on LG5 last year. "The new material feels great. And that's what it is like with me and her – when we both feel great, it's incredible. A lot of it is to do with trust, no ego, just love for the music. And when it's fun and respectful, putting the egos aside, it's magic."

Lady Gaga's upcoming album might feature an unexpected collaboration with Australian psychedelic musician Kevin Parker, according to a new picture posted on Instagram.

British hitmaker Mark Ronson, who is producing Gaga's new record, shared a photo showing Gaga and the Tame Impala frontman working behind a keyboard. Also in the picture is producer Bloodpop, who recently scored a U.S. number one single with Justin Bieber's "Sorry" that he co-produced with Skrillex. Ronson captioned the photo writing simply, "Illusion" which fans believe could be a hint at a track title.

Ronson has been working on Gaga's yet-untitled album since November. In a recent interview with Charlie Rose he revealed that the record they are making is "very honest, authentic, analog."

"I've been working for the past few months with Lady Gaga on her upcoming record and I'm just blown away by her talent, her voice," he said. "She's a Muso at heart. She's the happiest when she's sitting at a piano barking orders at the drummer, and I don't think that's the side of her the world has seen. They've seen the massive pop singles, tours, and dance numbers, so it's really great to make this very honest, authentic, analog kind of record with her."

Lady Gaga's new music is scheduled for a Q3 release.

Update: Despite the official press release claiming that Lady Gaga had been cast to play Cilla Black in Dionne, the singer will not be appearing in the project, her rep told Variety. "Lady Gaga is not attached and will not appear in the project," her publicist said. “Reports of Gaga starring in the project are false."

Earlier: Lady Gaga is set to play Cilla Black in a film based on the life of soul singer Dionne Warwick. The biopic, titled Dionne, was announced by the real Warwick at the Cannes Film Festival and will cover an early period of the singer's career in the 60s.

Cilla, who died last year aged 72, was one of Warwick's singer's biggest rivals after her cover of "Anyone Who Had a Heart" eclipsed Dionne's original recording back in 1964 and wen't on to become one of the best-selling singles of all time in the UK. When asked on Friday why she regarded Black as her nemesis, Warwick told reporters in Cannes it was "because she stole my music."

When asked why Lady Gaga was cast to play her, Warwick said, "Why not? It was just an easy choice and she wanted to do it."

Warwick herself will be portrayed by former Destiny's Child member Letoya Luckett. Dionne production is due to begin in late 2016.

Mark Ronson says Lady Gaga's new album is going to be her most authentic yet. In a recent interview, the British producer, who began working with Gaga on her highly-anticipated album in November, praised Mother Monster for her talent and explained the direction they are taking with LG5.

"I've been working for the past few months with Lady Gaga on her upcoming record and I'm just blown away by her talent, her voice," Ronson told Charlie Rose. "She's a Muso at heart. Earlier this year, Ronson confirmed that he is working on material for Gaga's fifth, yet-untitled album, due out in 2016. Mark is known for his work with Robbie Williams, Christina Aguilera, Adele, Lily Allen, Paul McCartney and many others. He also produced several tracks on Amy Winehouse's hit album Back to Black, including "Rehab," for which he won a Grammy for "Record of the Year." Ronson scored his first number one single last year, when his track "Uptown Funk" featuring Bruno Mars was released to widespread critical and commercial success.

This is about partnering with a very generous major corporation that is using their great power to do good things and to raise money for research for physical, emotional and mental well being for people all over the world."

Lady Gaga joined Vice President Joe Biden to support the White House's "It's On Us" campaign during a rally held at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas on Thursday. The 73-year-old politician praised Gaga as one of the bravest survivors he knows before she took the stage to perform her latest single "Til It Happens to You."

"Imagine the courage it takes for her to speak out and then imagine the courage it takes for her to sing a song, 'Til It Happens to You,' that is branded in her heart," Biden said as he introduced the singer before hundreds of University of Nevada students.

Gaga, who was sexually abused aged 19, performed the Oscar-nominated song at a black piano next to a large American flag. Afterward, she called supporting the cause her greatest cause, saying: "What I've learned is that the most powerful form of feeling is compassion, so if you can simply be a friend to someone and truly listen, truly lend your ear, even if it's hard or you don't understand. You will be fulfilling the sense of loneliness that has stayed with me ever since the day I was abused."

Lady Gaga gave a beautiful speech as she accepted the Artist Award at Grammy Museum's annual Jane Ortner Education Award Luncheon in Beverly Hills on Monday. During the speech, the singer thanked her vocal teachers, her band and her friends, and urged the audience not to pay attention to fame and money because it "ain't s--t" compared to the music.

"I would like to say, in the spirit of this wonderful evening and all of the blessings that we have today," Gaga said. "I think it's so great for us all to leave tonight with an inner sense of inspiration to help other people feel a genuine authentic love for music that is beyond becoming famous, beyond making money, beyond becoming a star, beyond looking like you have it all. Because I can tell you that stuff ain't s--t compared to the records. The records are where it's at."
