I'd like to think it did. It's a cliché but the song really did help me accept who I was. In 2010/2011 I was in a state of huge denial, being gay was just seen as this thing that people shouldn't turn out to be, and that people who were gay probably had a terrible upbringing involving abuse etc. My mindset was that I've never been abused or had a bad upbringing thus I can't be gay.
