<p>
	Lady Gaga stole the show at the 58th Grammy Awards with a special tribute to David Bowie directed by Nile Rodgers. Gaga did the late pop legend proud by performing an energetic 7-minute medley of his signature songs, including "Space Oddity," "Rebel Rebel," and "Fashion." The Nile Rodgers-directed tribute was highlighted by stunning visual effects created by the tech giant <em>Intel</em>.
</p>

<p>
	"When I was 19 years old I started to live my life like him," Gaga told the <em>Associated Press</em> ahead of the show. "I began to consume art and fashion and art history and a combination of those things, performance technique... and I only hung out with people that were artists and that was the way that he was and I learned that from him. What I'm trying to say is there's people that love David Bowie, and then there's David Bowie fans, and there's Bowie kids, who live like him... and I can't express to you, I don't know who I'd be if I didn't have (him as) a figure in my life. I don't know what my identity would be."

<p>
	Lady Gaga says she wouldn't be the artist she is today without David Bowie. In a new interview with the <em>Associated Press</em>, Gaga spoke about finding out that her latest song "Til It Happens to You" was nominated for an Oscar while listening to one of Bowie's songs, and cited the late musician as the main influence on her career.
</p>

<p>
	"I was up in bed at 3 am to wait for the nominations to be announced and I started to work on the David Bowie tribute I'm going to do at the Grammys," Gaga recalled. "I was on my laptop editing, working, making this mixtape for Nile Rodges to submit to him my idea for the beginning of the musical direction. And I got so distracted listening to David Bowie. It was the first time I started really letting myself cry and be affected by it. And then I looked up and it said 'Til It Happens to You' on the TV. And I had the headphones on, and 'Scary Monsters' was playing and it was so cool."

<p>
	She continued: "It was a magic moment, because I would never exist today without David Bowie and for him to have been in my ears the moment I saw that... I'm just honored to be here, really, and be recognized as a songwriter."

<p>
	Fresh off her universally praised <a href="https://gagadaily.com/story/news/lady-gaga-super-bowl-national-anthem/">performance</a> of the National Anthem at Super Bowl 50, Lady Gaga attended Monday's Academy Awards Nominee Luncheon in Beverly Hills. Mother Monster looked divine in a peach backless gown as she arrived at the event with Diane Warren, who helped her write the Oscar-nominated "Til It Happens to You."
</p>

<p>
	Gaga was in tears at the luncheon when Oscars producer David Hill came up on stage to praise her performance of the national anthem at Sunday's Super Bowl, saying it was "the best rendition I have ever heard, and, trust me, I've heard a lot." The singer was so overwhelmed at the unexpected praise from Hill, who had produced past Super Bowls, that her jaw dropped and she covered her face as tears rolled down her cheeks.

	Lady Gaga's show-stopping performance is already considered the best rendition of the National Anthem since Whitney Houston's career-defining musical moment in 1991. While the performance was just hours ago, it has already rocketed well past 30 million views online.
</p>

<p>
	Mother Monster will pivot back to a more familiar stage next, with a high-profile Bowie tribute at the Grammys. Gaga is largely expected to steal the show with a 7-minute performance, which airs just one week from today. By the end of February, the megastar will have performed for over 200 million viewers since the start of the month.

<p>
	Continuing her string of high-profile successes since the release of <em>Cheek to Cheek</em> in 2014, Lady Gaga offered a powerful rendition of the National Anthem at Sunday's Super Bowl 50. Mother Monster took the big stage at Levi's Stadium to sing "The Star-Spangled Banner" before the Carolina Panthers battled the Denver Broncos in the 50th edition of the big game.

<p>
	While this is Gaga's first time hitting the Super Bowl stage, it's not the only major performance booked for the month. Gaga was selected for a tribute to the late pop legend David Bowie at the 58th Annual Grammy Awards on Monday, February 15th. In addition, she's also slated to perform her Grammy- and Oscar-nominated track, "Til It Happens to You," at the 88th Academy Awards on February 28th.
</p>

<p>
	February is shaping up to fulfill Gaga's promise of exploding into her 30's; as she returns, yet again, to become one of the most-talked about stars on the globe.

<p>
	Lady Gaga sat down with NFL's Nate Burleson to talk about singing the national anthem at  Super Bowl 50. She also revealed what her favorite performance of "The Star-Spangled Banner" is, and how she wants to sing the song at Sunday's game.
</p>

<p>
	"It's such an honor and a total dream-come-true," Gaga said. "I've always wanted to sing the national anthem at a major sporting event since I was a little girl, and for it to be the Super Bowl, it is the ultimate."

<p>
	The news that Lady Gaga will be paying tribute to David Bowie at this year's Grammy awards was met with collective excitement from most Gaga and Bowie fans. Still, some music lovers were not so happy about the Grammy's choice of a performer and Nile Rodgers, who serves as the musical director for the tribute, had a perfect response for them.
</p>

<p>
	"Gaga sings the paint off the walls, and is not just a good singer, she is a great artist," Rodgers wrote in a Facebook post. "These negative remarks sound like when Bowie decided to work with 'the disco guy,' or when I decided to work with Madonna. I find it so weird that people don't get Gaga's greatness. I've played wth her with symphony orchestras, Elton John and others and she killed it every time? What do you guys think makes a great artist? I'm scratching my head. Give me 50 Gagas any day of the week!"

<p>
	Lady Gaga will honor the late David Bowie with an "experimental tribute" at this year's Grammy Awards. The tribute will be directed by Nile Rodgers, who recently worked with Gaga on a cover of Chic's 1979 hit "I Want Your Love."
</p>

<p>
	"We had already booked Lady Gaga on this year's show, but when David passed — almost in a single moment — we knew we had to change direction," the executive producer of the Grammy Awards Ken Ehrlich <a href="http://www.justjared.com/2016/02/02/lady-gaga-david-bowie-grammys-tribute/" rel="external nofollow">told</a> <em>JustJared</em>. "We immediately spoke and agreed that she should be the one to honor David. She's perfect for it."
</p>

<p>
	David Bowie has been a massive influence on Gaga throughout her career, so it should come as no surprise that she was chosen to honor the legendary performer.
</p>

<p>
	"When I fell in love with David Bowie, when I was living on the Lower East Side, I always felt that his glamour was something he was using to express a message to people that was very healing for their souls," Gaga said in an interview with the <em>Hollywood Reporter</em> just days before David passed away. "He is a true, true artist and I don't know if I ever went, 'Oh, I'm going to be that way like this,' or if I arrived upon it slowly, realizing it was my calling and that's what drew me to him."
</p>

<p>
	58th Annual Grammy Awards will take place on Monday, February 15, 2016 in Los Angeles.

<p>
	Lady Gaga made a surprise appearance at this year's Producers Guild Awards for a special performance of her Oscar-nominated single "Til It Happens to You" on Saturday night.
</p>

<p>
	"A big thank you to everyone who has supported this song," Gaga told the audience before singing the song. "It's not only an important issue to me, it is an important issue to my family, because when my father's sister was in college, she was sexually assaulted and then it tormented her so emotionally that it caused lupus that got so bad that she died. My father was 16, and it affected my family tremendously. This song means so much to me and so much to my parents. So thank you Diane Warren for writing it with me."

<p>
	Lady Gaga is back in the studio with her new friend and collaborator Diane Warren! Last year, the two co-wrote "Til It Happens to You," a powerful ballad featured in the documentary <em>The Hunting Ground</em> which was released to widespread acclaimed and earned them nominations for a Grammy and an Oscar. And now, they are ready for more.
</p>

<p>
	In an <a href="http://www.buzzfeed.com/doree/un-break-my-heart#.ibzOqVp2A" rel="external nofollow">interview</a> with <em>Buzzfeed</em>, Diane confirmed that she's been working with Gaga on her upcoming album, due out later this year. "We did a couple of really great songs," she said. "I can’t wait 'til they're out."
</p>

<p>
	Other confirmed collaborators on Gaga's next album are RedOne, Mark Ronson, and Elton John.

<p>
	Elton John, who is one of Lady Gaga's closest friends, says she is going back to her early stuff with the new album. The legendary musician told <em>Beats 1</em> radio that he'd heard two tracks from Gaga's upcoming yet-untitled album and revealed that he is working on the project as well.
</p>

<p>
	"I'm writing with Gaga tomorrow, she's doing a new record," he told Zane Lowe. "I've heard two songs which are killer, they're just great songs, it's like back to the early stuff of hers: 'Yoü and I' and the Bruce Springsteen 'Bad Romance.'"
</p>

<p>
	Elton also added that he's not fan of Gaga's controversial 2013 album <em>ARTPOP.</em>
</p>

<p>
	"She made some bad career decisions, <em>ARTPOP</em> was not a good idea, it was not a good album, I think she will admit that," he continued. "In the midst of that, last year, he did three things which were kind of amazing. She did the whole tour and the album with Tony Bennett, which did amazingly well. She sang the Julie Andrews tribute on the Oscars which everyone loved, and she was on <em>American Horror Story</em>.
</p>

<p>
	"I think she's a great writer, to me she is Stefani Germanotta and I love her and care about her, she's the godmother of my two children. I want her to make a simple, fabulous, great song record. Maybe like <em>Tapestry</em>, but her version of <em>Tapestry</em>. I've heard two of the songs. They're not complex arrangements, but they're great songs. It's all about the song."
</p>

<p>
	British producer Mark Ronson has confirmed that he has been working with Lady Gaga on her upcoming fifth studio album and described her as "an incredible songwriter."
</p>

<p>
	"We worked together in London," Ronson <a href="http://www.standard.co.uk/showbiz/celebrity-news/mark-ronson-i-m-helping-real-muso-lady-gaga-with-her-new-album-a3159146.html" rel="external nofollow">said</a> at the 2016 BRIT Awards nomination party after scoring two nods for British male solo artist and best British producer. "<span style="line-height: 1.6;">I think she's incredibly talented and kind of a muso at heart beyond all the giant pop hits. I would love to work some more with her — she's an incredible singer/songwriter."</span>
</p>

<p>
	<span style="line-height: 1.6;">Back in November, Gaga and Ronson were <a href="https://gagadaily.com/story/news/lady-gaga-mark-ronson-london/">spotted</a> leaving a London recording studio at 6 a.m. after a 12-hour long recording session.</span>
</p>

<p>
	Mark Ronson is known for his work with Robbie Williams, Christina Aguilera, Adele, Lily Allen, Paul McCartney and many others. He also produced several tracks on Amy Winehouse's hit album <em>Back to Black</em>, including "Rehab," for which he won a Grammy for "Record of the Year." Ronson scored his first number one single in 2014, when his track "Uptown Funk" featuring Bruno Mars was released to widespread critical and commercial success.

<p>
	Did you know that at 18 years old, Lady Gaga, then Stefani Germanotta, had a Facebook hate page about her? In a new <a href="http://www.pri.org/stories/2016-01-17/how-young-lady-gaga-triumphed-over-dissers" rel="external nofollow">essay</a>, published by <em>Public Radio International</em>'s Lauren Bohn, it is revealed that Stefani, who now has six Grammys, a Golden Globe, and is among the top-selling musicians of all time, used to have a Facebook group dedicated to saying she'd never be a star.
</p>

<p>
	"When I was a freshman at NYU and Facebook was only a year old and people created/joined groups like 'I have dimples' and 'Fake ID, please!,' I remember coming across a Facebook group that broke my heart," Bohn wrote. "It's name, something like: 'Stefani Germanotta, you will never be famous.'
</p>

<p>
	<img class="ipsImage ipsImage_thumbnailed" src="https://pbs.twimg.com/media/DfBr9j2W0AIR7xf.jpg" alt="DfBr9j2W0AIR7xf.jpg"></p>

<p>
	"The page housed pictures of a pretty Norah Jones-esque young 18-year-old NYU student who sang and played piano at local bars. The group was peppered with comments, sharp as porcupine needles, vilifying the aspiring musician for being an 'attention w----e.' Scores asked: 'Who does she think she is?' I also remember one dude posting a flyer for one of her upcoming gigs at a local village bar. He had clearly stomped on the flyer, an outline of his muddy sole [soul] struggling to eclipse her name.
</p>

<p>
	"I couldn't shake the raw feeling of filth while scrolling down that Facebook page, but I pretty much — and quickly — forgot about that group and that girl with the intense raven eyes. Until about five years later. I was on an Amtrak train from NYC to Philly, reading a Vanessa Grigoriadis New York Magazine profile on Lady Gaga. I floated somewhat mindlessly through the piece until I got to the first sentence of the second graf: 'Before the meeting, I assumed that someone with a stage name like 'Lady' (her given name is Stefani Joanne Germanotta) was going to be a bit standoffish...' HOLY S---, I screamed to an empty car (Those who hang with me will know that I actually shrieked). LADY GAGA IS STEFANI GERMANOTTA? STEFANI IS LADY GAGA?
</p>

<p>
	"I was overcome with a dizzying emotional cocktail of stage-mom-at-a-beauty-pageant and nerd-revenge triumph. But also shame. Shame that I never wrote on that group, shame that I never defended the girl with the intense raven eyes — the girl whose brave flyers were stomped on, probably somewhere near my dorm."
</p>

<p>
	In 2015, Gaga dedicated a part of her <em>Woman of the Year </em>speech to her haters as she accepted the award at Billboard's "Women in Music" event in New York City. "I'd like to say thank you to everyone that didn't believe in me," she said. "Because there was a lot of people. Probably more than believed, and you gave me a fire in my belly so strong I couldn't wait to prove you wrong, I'll tell you. 'Cause I might not be a lot of things, but I can write songs, and I can sing."
</p>

<p>
	You tell em' Gaga!

	Right on the heels of Lady Gaga's first <a href="https://gagadaily.com/story/news/lady-gaga-golden-globe-win/">win</a> at the Golden Globes for her show-stopping performance on <em>American Horror Story: Hotel</em>, the singer-songwriter has been nominated for an Oscar with "Til It Happens to You." The track is up for the Academy Award's Best Original Song, and it is Gaga's very first nomination for the prestigious award.
</p>

<p>
	The other nominees are: "Earned It" from <em>Fifty Shades of Grey</em>, "Manta Ray" from <em>Racing Extinction</em>, "Simple Song 3" from <em>Youth</em>, and "Writing's On the Wall" from <em>Spectre</em>.
</p>

<p>
	Penned by Diane Warren and Gaga for the documentary <em>The Hunting Ground</em>, "Til It Happens to You" has received significant acclaim from fans and critics alike since its release in 2015. The song has racked up more than 20 million views on VEVO and peaked in the Top 10 on the global iTunes chart. It has also received a nomination for Best Song Written for Visual Media at the 58th Annual Grammy Awards, and a nod at the 21st Annual Critics' Choice Awards for Best Original Song.
</p>

<p>
	The string of nominations builds on a long winning <a href="https://gagadaily.com/story/special/best-lady-gaga-moments-2015/">streak</a> for Lady Gaga since <em>Cheek to Cheek</em> was released and topped the charts in 2014. Mother Monster has won her sixth Grammy, received a Songwriters Hall of Fame award, and was named Billboard's 2015 Woman of the Year.

<p>
	Lady Gaga has finally addressed rumors about the release date for her new album, which fans refer to as LG5. "I am putting out an album this year," the singer and acress told a reporter at the Golden Globes press conference. "I won't tell you when, but it is coming out this year."
</p>

<p>
	When asked whether her role as The Countess on <em>American Horror Story: Hotel</em> will influence the look for the new album era, she added: "That's a difficult thing to say, as I'm still creating all of those things. But what is nice about playing The Countess is that it reminded me that in my own life and in my music I'm at times playing a character, and I become them fully. I think that confidence will stay with me, but who's to say?"
</p>

	Gaga has been working on the yet-untitled record since 2014. Although she is keeping details about the project under wraps, Gaga posted several <a href="https://gagadaily.com/story/news/lady-gaga-redone-lg5/">teasers</a> of her recording sessions with producer RedOne ("Poker Face," "Bad Romance," "Judas") on Instagram last year.

	"With Gaga, I'm fully committed until we're done. We're just going to work on writing songs until we get hopefully the best album of the decade," RedOne said. "The new material feels great. And that's what it is like with me and her – when we both feel great, it's incredible. A lot of it is to do with trust, no ego, just love for the music. And when it's fun and respectful, putting the egos aside, it's magic."
