The Grammys will air an “experimental tribute” for this year’s Lifetime Achievement Award recipient David Bowie performed by one of his biggest fans, Lady Gaga, JustJared.com can confirm.
“We had already booked Lady Gaga on this year’s show, but when David passed — almost in a single moment — we knew we had to change direction,” said executive producer of the Grammy Awards Ken Ehrlich. “We immediately spoke and agreed that she should be the one to honor David. She’s perfect for it.”

Lorde should have been the one assigned to tribute David. He has never spoken fondly of Gaga publicly but he's been quoted saying Lorde's music is "the music of tomorrow". If there isn't a relationship between him and Gaga (or worse, a negative one) it makes no sense for her to be the one to do it, that's not what he would have wanted.
Lorde could pull off an androgynous performance easily, especially if she performed "Velvet Goldmine".
