Surprise! Lady Gaga has dropped a music video for "John Wayne," a track taken from her number one album Joanne. The wild visual was directed by Jonas Åkerlund, the man behind the singer's epic "Paparazzi" and "Telephone" mini movies, and filmed last month in California, just weeks before Gaga's performance at the Super Bowl.

"I have known Jonas for a really long time and we've been wanting to work together again," Gaga said. "He directed the music video, but the way we usually work is he likes to download from me all the visions of the song. I took him from a bunch of different scenarios and he helped to weave it together into a story. That's what I like about him too, he has a very cinematic approach, but he doesn't forget to make it a real music video."

On the power of makeup:
I never felt beautiful, and I still have days that I don't feel beautiful. All of the insecurities that I've dealt with my whole life from being bullied when I was younger, they come right back up to bite me. Then I put makeup on, and before I know it I feel this superhero within. It gives me those wings to fly.

On how her team helped her be Lady Gaga on stage:
Sarah would pick me up off the floor, sit me in a chair, dry my tears, and say, 'I'm going to put on your face now.' If I cried while she was putting on my makeup, I would apologize, and she would say, 'It's okay. I've got you.' Sarah would do my makeup, Freddie would do my hair, and they would hold me and say, 'Look at yourself. There's Lady Gaga. You can do this. Now go do it.' And I would go out there, and the second that spotlight hits me, bam, I'm in the zone,” she says. “But I can't do that without them. That is the power of glam for me. Not everybody has a Sarah, but I'm very lucky that I do. And I want this line to be for the person at home who needs that pick-me-up. If they use it, or don't use it, they can at least look at it and go, 'That's what helps Lady Gaga shine on her bad days. And I want to shine today.'

On wanting Haus Laboratories to be a continuation of her championing of the LGBTQ+ community:
I would like all gender identities to know very clearly that they are included, and never exploited, ever. I want that little boy at home that might like to be called a girl to say, 'Mommy, I want to wear Dynasty. It's a Glam Attack.' And then Mommy goes, 'Oh, my son wants to be called a girl, and he wants the Glam Attack.' And then she goes and she gets it for him. And he uses it. And then there's a bond. It's kind of like when kids used to come to my shows with their parents, and they'd lean over and they'd say, 'Mommy and Daddy, I'm gay.' Or 'I'm not a boy; I'm a girl'. Or 'I'm not a girl; I'm a boy.' I have heard those stories so many times, over and over, for all of the years that I have been in this business. And I want the same thing that I've had in my concerts to happen with this company. If I'm not changing people's lives, what are we doing here?

Lady Gaga has just been announced as a performer at this year's Academy Awards! Mother Monster will take the Oscars stage for a second year in a row to perform her latest single "Til It Happens to You," which is among the nominees for "Best Original Song."

88th Academy Awards will take place on February 28th at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, California.

Lady Gaga called into Zane Lowe's Beats 1 radio show on Wednesday interview for a brief chat about her brand new video for "John Wayne," her big performance at Sunday's Super Bowl Halftime show, and her upcoming duet with Metallica at the Grammys. On working with Bradley Cooper on A Star Is Born:
Right now I'm finishing the score with Bradley and some other fantastic producers and collaborators. And then I'll shoot the movie, and then after that I will go on tour. The best part about making this movie is working with Bradley. He's such a genius and an incredibly hard-working, focused, ninja-like human being. We've really become such great friends. It's really tremendous to work with him all the time on the project. He's very inspiring.

On performing with Metallica at the Grammys:

I was at Bradley's house with Lars and we were just hanging out. He's amazing. I went to see them live, I’ve seen them a couple times live, but I saw them live recently and we were watching the show and I'll tell you something, those guys play better than they've ever played in their whole lives.

On the new video for "John Wayne":
I have known Jonas [Akerlund] for a really long time and we've been wanting to work together again. For this song I thought he and I would just be perfect to do this together. He directed the music video, but the way we usually start when we work is he likes to download from me all my visions about the song. I'll tell him 'I envision me on the back of a horse with a guy and I'm about to fall off and no matter how fast he goes and  how much it hurts I keep hanging on and I look like I'm enjoying it, or, you know, a scene with me and a guy in a car and we're getting too reckless and we show how reckless love can be.' I took him through a whole bunch of different scenarios like that and he helps to weave it together into a story and a video.

Lady Gaga officially launched her makeup brand Haus Laboratories with a 500-guest party on Monday night in Santa Monica.

"I have always, even prior to my career, wanted to spread love around the world," Gaga told the guests. "At first I found that way through music, but it was the discovery of makeup that helped me transform into the artist and person I always wanted to be. It helped me to love myself. No matter what. With the makeup or not."

She added: "I'm standing here braver than I've ever been. I'm overcoming obstacles. I'm dealing with my own mental health issues around fame. And finally, being able to really show up for the world the way that I want to, in the way that I believe I’m supposed to."

Lady Gaga hosted a very special a fundraiser in partnership with SoulCycle to benefit her Born This Way Foundation on Tuesday in Chicago. Mother Monster drew a crowd of fans and photographers when she arrived at the event sporting a "Day of the Dead"-inspired makeup. 

Gaga and her mother Cynthia rode bikes alongside guests to raise funds and awareness for the foundation, which supports the wellness of young people by connecting with youth directly, promoting scientific research, and building productive partnerships.

"SoulCycle ride for The Born This Way foundation was a hit today in Chicago," she wrote on her Instagram page. "Thank you to everyone who participated in raising money and awareness for a cause so close to my heart. Let's work toward a kinder and braver world,where every kid wakes up knowing their voice matters, that they are heard, and that there are many resources available to help them with the emotional and social challenges they face."

Lady Gaga will honor the late David Bowie with an "experimental tribute" at this year's Grammy Awards. The tribute will be directed by Nile Rodgers, who recently worked with Gaga on a cover of Chic's 1979 hit "I Want Your Love."

"We had already booked Lady Gaga on this year's show, but when David passed — almost in a single moment — we knew we had to change direction," the executive producer of the Grammy Awards Ken Ehrlich told JustJared. "We immediately spoke and agreed that she should be the one to honor David. She's perfect for it."

David Bowie has been a massive influence on Gaga throughout her career, so it should come as no surprise that she was chosen to honor the legendary performer.

"When I fell in love with David Bowie, when I was living on the Lower East Side, I always felt that his glamour was something he was using to express a message to people that was very healing for their souls," Gaga said in an interview with the Hollywood Reporter just days before David passed away. "He is a true, true artist and I don't know if I ever went, 'Oh, I'm going to be that way like this,' or if I arrived upon it slowly, realizing it was my calling and that's what drew me to him."

58th Annual Grammy Awards will take place on Monday, February 15, 2016 in Los Angeles.

Lady Gaga called into On Air with Ryan Seacrest on Thursday to chat about the crazy week she's having, from headlining the Super Bowl Halftime show to preparing to duet with Metallica at the Grammys. The "Million Reasons" revealed the secrets behind the Halftime performance, explained why she clapped back at Internet bullies on Instagram, and shared the inspiration behind her brand new video for "John Wayne."

On her Super Bowl Halftime show performance:
I watched, I think, almost every single halftime show and I looked at what really, really worked, and what I thought didn't work, what I thought was impactful visually, how to use the stadium, how to do something that was a little different but was still me. Ultimately what I discovered was, I thought less was more for me. Even though it probably didn't seem like that watching the show because it was so big, it really was just a really cool stage with fire. There wasn't a lot of technology other than the 300 drones.

On dominating iTunes charts following the show:
I think that even if you have my music, or you don't have it, there's something about a live performance that can reignite the fan in you. It made me feel good. What I wanted more than anything was for people to watch the halftime show and just be transported for a second out of the game and out of life, really, and to a new dream.

On the newly-released video for "John Wayne":
It comes out of the "Million Reasons" video and it was really fun to shoot. It's me inhabiting all the things about myself that I know are not always safe and not always good for me, and really admitting to my cravings for wild and dangerous men and activities.

Lady Gaga's brand new make-up line Haus Laboratories is finally here and beauty bloggers are loving it. The collection, which includes eyeliners, lip liners, stickers and eyeshadow shimmers in various shades, is receiving rave reviews from make-up lovers on YouTube. "Every formula was good, it's on point, and I didn't expect anything less from Gaga," beauty guru Jeffree Star said, while YouTuber Nicol Concilio added: "Everything just looks beautiful, the products really speak for themselves."

Lady Gaga will be the recipient of the inaugural Contemporary Icon Award at the Songwriters Hall of Fame on June 18. According to a statement from the hall, the award is to recognize a performing songwriter "who has attained an iconic status in pop culture."

Lady Gaga has landed a new movie role! The Oscar-winning actress will star in Ridley Scott's upcoming film about the Gucci family and the murder of the grandson of founder Guccio Gucci, Deadline reports. Gaga is attached to star as Patrizia Reggiani, the ex-wife of Maurizio Gucci, who was tried and convicted of organizing her ex-husband’s assassination on the steps of his office in 1995. She served 18 years before being let out of jail in 2016.

This is the first project Lady Gaga has attached herself to since her big screen debut A Star Is Born, for which she earned a Best Actress nomination at the 91st Academy Awards. She won an Oscar for writing the movie's theme song "Shallow" alongside Andrew Wyatt, Anthony Rossomando, and Mark Ronson.

Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett attracted one of the largest crowds in New Orleans Jazz Festival history when they performed at the Gentilly Stage on Sunday night. Over 25,000 jazz fans showed up to watch the two perform tracks from their Grammy-winning album Cheek To Cheek, which has recently cracked the million sales mark worldwide.

The next stop on Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett's Cheek To Cheek tour is Vancouver on May 25th.

The news that Lady Gaga will be paying tribute to David Bowie at this year's Grammy awards was met with collective excitement from most Gaga and Bowie fans. Still, some music lovers were not so happy about the Grammy's choice of a performer and Nile Rodgers, who serves as the musical director for the tribute, had a perfect response for them.

"Gaga sings the paint off the walls, and is not just a good singer, she is a great artist," Rodgers wrote in a Facebook post. "These negative remarks sound like when Bowie decided to work with 'the disco guy,' or when I decided to work with Madonna. I find it so weird that people don't get Gaga's greatness. I've played wth her with symphony orchestras, Elton John and others and she killed it every time? What do you guys think makes a great artist? I'm scratching my head. Give me 50 Gagas any day of the week!"

Lady Gaga is set to honor David Bowie with a 7-minute "experimental tribute" at the 58th Annual Grammy Awards on Monday, February 15th.

On her mental health struggles:
I have PTSD. I have chronic pain. Neuropathic pain trauma response is a weekly part of my life. I’m on medication; I have several doctors. This is how I survive. But you know what, Oprah? I kept going, and that kid out there or even that adult out there who’s been through so much, I want them to know that they can keep going, and they can survive, and they can win their Oscar. I would also beckon to anyone to try, when they feel ready, to ask for help. And I would beckon to others that if they see someone suffering, to approach them and say, “Hey, I see you. I see that you’re suffering, and I’m here. Tell me your story.”

On why she decided to launch Haus Labs:
I wanted to do it because (a), I had the time—I wanted to put everything into it, which I do with everything that I do. I don’t just put a company together, hire a staff, and have them do it. I said this the other night at our launch: “My fingerprints are all over this. It’s a crime scene.” And (b), I felt that I had the platform and had built the foundation around what I stand for, so that when this company came out, it would be a rebellion in a kind way against the status quo of beauty as it is today, which is in many ways on social media, a competition. It’s a beauty pageant in a lot of ways. This company exists in an influential space in culture where we say, “Our Haus. Your Rules.” And everyone is welcome—all gender identities.

On those Bradley Cooper rumors:
Quite frankly, I think the press is very silly. I mean, we made a love story. For me, as a performer and as an actress, of course we wanted people to believe that we were in love. And we wanted people to feel that love at the Oscars. We wanted it to go right through the lens of that camera and to every television that it was being watched on. And we worked hard on it, we worked for days. We mapped the whole thing out—it was orchestrated as a performance.

Chicago Fire star and Lady Gaga's fiancé Taylor Kinney graces the cover of The Men's issue of Chicago Tribune Magazine, on newsstands next month. In the cover interview, he talks about fashion, his career and getting engaged to Gaga.

"I just knew. It wasn't a lightbulb going off," he said of the proposal, adding, "It was in Manhattan. It was snowing, it was beautiful."

Lady Gaga and Taylor Kinney got engaged on Valentine's Day this year, after being together for more than three years. "It makes everything better," Gaga said. "When you’re in love and have love it makes everything better. From the moment I met him, my heart was with him."

"It's such an honor and a total dream-come-true," Gaga said. "I've always wanted to sing the national anthem at a major sporting event since I was a little girl, and for it to be the Super Bowl, it is the ultimate."

Arguably fashion's biggest night of the year, the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute Gala is an annual benefit organized by Vogue's Anna Wintour. Lady Gaga was the first star to grace Oprah Winfrey’s national tour, 2020 Vision: Your Life in Focus in Fort Lauderdale on Saturday. Gaga candidly chatted about the specifics of her current mental health, medication, and self-care regimen during the interview, which brought both Gaga and Oprah to tears. On what caused her PTSD:
I was raped repeatedly when I was 19 years old, and I also developed PTSD as a result of being raped and also not processing that trauma. I did not have anyone help me, I did not have a therapist, I did not have a psychiatrist, I did not have a doctor help me through it. I all of a sudden became a star and was traveling the world going from hotel room to garage to limo to stage, and I never dealt with it, and then all of a sudden I started to experience this incredible intense pain throughout my entire body that mimicked the illness I felt after I was raped.

On what helps her get through the pain:
I know that this is controversial in a lot of ways, but medicine really helped me. And I think a lot of people are afraid of medicine for their brains to help them. And I really want to just erase the stigma around this because I am sick of saying it over and over and  over again. And what moves me so much in this space, and why I want to work so heavily and much more thoroughly through it in the future, is that not everybody has access to these things. And not everybody has the money for these things. And I want the money for it, I want the best doctors in the world, and I want us to understand the brain and all get on the same page about it so that Gen Z does not have to deal with this the way that we are right now. Mental health is a crisis. 

On whether she is working on new music:
I still am going to make music. Don't worry.

Congratulations to Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett, whose collaborative jazz album Cheek to Cheek has surpassed the one million sales mark this week!

Cheek to Cheek has been a massive success for the duo, reaching top ten in over 20 countries and receiving glorious reviews from jazz critics. When the album debuted atop the Billboard 200,Gaga became the first female artist of the decade to have three number-one albums, while Tony extended his record as the oldest person to reach the top spot on the chart. In February, Cheek to Cheek earned Lady Gaga her sixth Grammy, making her the only musician in history to win the award for both dance and jazz music.

"Tony and I have been overwhelmed with the rave reviews and standing ovations over this project," Lady Gaga told Gaga Daily last year "Especially after [2013], for me, I sort of assumed the worst. But the music really spoke for itself."
