On turning 30:
My birthday is in March, so these are the last moments of my 20s. I already mourned that in a way, and now I'm really excited about showing girls, and even men, what it can mean to be a woman in her 30s. Why is it that we're disposing of people once they pass that mark? It's suddenly, 'You're an old woman.' I'm not f---ing old. I'm more sexual and powerful and intelligent and on my s--t than I've ever been. I've come a long way through a lot of heartache and pain, but none of it made me damaged goods. It made me a fighter. I want to show women they don't need to try to keep up with the 19-year-olds and the 21-year-olds in order to have a hit. Women in music, they feel like they need to f---ing sell everything to be a star. It's so sad. I want to explode as I go into my 30s.

On her career-changing performance at the Oscars:
As soon as the Oscars were over, [former chairman of Interscope Geffen A&M] Jimmy Iovine emailed me something like, 'That was so f---ing fantastic, and it could've been such a disaster.' He's Italian and from Brooklyn, so we speak the same comedic language, but I knew he was right. The truth is you can either nail a performance like that or butcher some of the most classic songs sung by an all-time great. I took the gamble because everyone had written me off. It took me a long time to get those notes. I told my manager, 'I need two months working with my vocal coach every day and to be sober, which means I can't do other work at all.' When I work I need to drink and smoke, and I have body pain [due to hip surgery]. But I'm just like any other girl -- there's a human being in there, and if you can keep the human intact, that's what you're going to hear in the music.

On singing with Tony Bennett:
There is nobody more badass than Tony Bennett. That man is a part of the history of music in a way that is extremely powerful, and he taught me to stay true to who I am, to not let anybody exploit me. He is responsible in so many ways for making me happy, and I can say the same for Elton [John]. When the whole industry turned their back on me during ARTPOP, they were the ones who said, 'Hey, this is a blip. It's going to go away.' On tour, I had people give me war medals and memorabilia just to thank me for exposing a younger generation to Tony Bennett because he changed their lives in such significant ways. I want to be a part of curating a culture where we don't give credence to anyone who is rude or crass or not good for the world.

On starring in American Horror Story:
I'm not the type of girl who fits most molds. That's why working on American Horror Story with Ryan [Murphy] is a destiny. I wanted to create something extremely meaningful by exploring the art of darkness. The reason I love watching horror films, mysteries and documentaries about crime is that it somehow numbs me from the pain I experience in my own life. You are watching something worse than whatever you think you're going through. The terror of that suspends you, and you are able to forget about your own pain for a moment. It's like a safe, psychological form of masochism.

Ryan and I have both experienced the same sort of criticism over the intention of our work. My whole career has been built on this perception that I'm trying to evoke attention because of the things I'm interested in, when it's not that way at all. If you don't like to be disturbed, [American Horror Story] probably isn't for you. If you don't like absurdity, I'm probably not for you. I hung upside down for 45 minutes for [video artist] Robert Wilson and drained all the blood in my body, and I've stood in a freezing cold river naked for two hours with magnets on my head for Marina Abramovic. I'm a hard-core chick. I go there. I can put all my rage into that dark art, and then the rest of my life can be spent clearheaded, doing the things I know to be right, like philanthropy and sticking to my guns musically.

Lady Gaga talks about writing music, staying true to herself, and relating to the "outside world" during a sunset stroll with Billboard magazine at her home in Malibu.

Gaga said: "The first thing I asked myself when I came into this house was, 'How am I gonna try to relate to people all over the world and make songs that make people feel like they belong together, if I don't feel like I can relate to the outside world sometimes? So I really put it upon myself to focus on being mindful and present, and fighting for my existense in nature. Because once I start to fight for that, the stuff I write about is just deepest desires and objectives in life."

Lady Gaga's Billboard "Woman of the Year" cover issue is on newsstands now.

Lady Gaga's new manager Bobby Campbell says they want to show the world a new chapter of her in 2016. 

Speaking to Billboard magazine, he said: "Right now, we're focused on American Horror Story. She started in August and films up until the holidays. And that's what she's doing right now. After that I think it's clear that new music will be on the horizon. How soon? We don't know. But next year, I think we'll show a new chapter of her as an artist and as a musician."

Bobby also reveals that although Lady Gaga's show-stopping performance at the Oscars this year wasn't a strategic move, he wanted to make the public see how talented she actually is.

"I don't think it was so scientific that we sat down and said okay, the big goal for 2015 is to change perception of her," he said "But from the time I began managing her, I saw that there was a vocal minority that did not respect her for all that she brings to the table. I wanted to change that and set her up to be the icon that she is."

He continued: "You've seen the articles. She was 'eccentric,' 'too artsy.' People were judging her unfairly, so I wanted to press the reset button and remind them that whatever their perceptions, she's an incredibly talented musician, performer and songwriter. In the last year, she has gotten a Grammy, performed at the Oscars, went on a couple of tours with Tony Bennett, co-wrote 'Till It Happens to You' with Diane Warren, and is currently on American Horror Story: Hotel. She's proven that there's not really anything that she can't do if she works hard for it."

The 2016 Grammy nominations are in and Lady Gaga is up for an award in the "Best Song Written for Visual Media" category for her latest song "Til It Happens To You"! The other nominees are: "Earned It" by The Weeknd, "Glory" by Common and John Legend, "Love Me Like You Do" by Ellie Goulding, and "See You Again" by Wiz Khalifa and Charlie Puth.

"Thank you fans and The Grammys for nominating my song 'Til It Happens To You' for a Grammy," Gaga wrote on her Instagram page. "Me and my co-writer Diane Warren are so honored and proud to be a part a movement that empowers rape victims into survivors."

"Til It Happens To You" was co-written by Gaga and Diane Warren for the Kirby Dick-directed documentary film The Hunting Ground, which deals with the growing issue of sexual assault on American college campuses. In September, the song was released as a part of a powerful PSA video, with a portion of proceeds from the sale of the tune going to organizations that help rape survivors.

"It's hard to listen to that song, it's hard to watch it,' Gaga told Billboard magazine. 'Diane really held my hand. I was like, 'I've done a lot of things Diane, but can I do this?' She was like, 'You can do this.' It was extremely cathartic to know that not only am I not alone, but that other men and women aren’t alone — we all have each other. Even outside of rape culture, there are a lot of people silently in pain about extremely traumatic things."

Lady Gaga's latest single "Til It Happens To You" this week becomes her 17th top ten hit on Billboard's Dance Club Songs.

That's right, Gaga's song about sexual assault, written to empower young people affected by rape, is among this week's most played tracks in clubs in the United States.

"Til It Happens To You" jumps to No. 8 on the dance chart dated December 19th thanks to remixes by Tracy Young, Matt Consola and other DJs. Other club hits in the top ten include "Confident" by Demi Lovato, "Sorry" by Justin Bieber, and "Levels" by Nick Jonas.

To everyone getting turned up to "Til It Happens To You" in the club...

Congratulations to Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett whose hit album Cheek to Cheek is the top jazz record of 2015, according to Billboard! The CD, which currently sits at number one on Billboard's Jazz Albums charts even after a year since its release, tops the list of this year's top-selling jazz albums, ranked by sales data as compiled by Nielsen Music.

This is Gaga and Mr. Bennett's second consecutive year atop Billboard's year-end jazz ranking. Cheek to Cheek easily became the best-selling album of 2014, when it debuted with an impressive 131,000 copies sold in its first week and stayed at number one on the Jazz Albums chart until the rest of that year.

Additionally, Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga rank No. 1 and No. 2 respectively on Billboard's year-end Jazz Artists chart of 2015.

Congratulations to Lady Gaga who just scored her first nomination for a Golden Globe! Gaga is up for the "Best Actress in a Limited Series" award for her role as The Countess on the latest season of American Horror Story. The other nominees in the category are Sarah Hay (Flesh and Bone), Felicity Huffman (American Crime), Kirsten Dunst (Fargo), and Queen Latifah (Bessie).

"I apologize to my neighbors I'm still screaming in my apt in NY! I'm nominated as an actress for a Golden Globe what a dream is this real," Gaga tweeted shortly after the announcement. She later told Variety: "I am too excited for words at this recognition for my work! I dreamed endlessly of being in television and film. This is a real honor for a waitress/singer/actress from New York!"

73rd Golden Globe Awards will take place on January 10th, 2016 in Beverly Hills, Califormia.

Lady Gaga was joined by Diane Warren, as well as The Hunting Ground director Kirby Dick and producer Amy Ziering for a TimesTalk about the movie and the Grammy-nominated song "Til It Happens to You" with New York Times columnist Frank Bruni.

On the "Til It Happens to You" video:
It's powerful stuff. And, half the stuff I put into the world people don't even take the right way anyway. It's not that you don't want to put your arms around the universe, of course that's what I wanna do all the time. But what if I were to align myself with this project and somehow leave a stench of inauthenticity all around it where people would not focus on the message? I said, 'I don't want to get in the way.' I didn't want to be in the video, I wanted it to be about the song and the message.

On victim-blaming:
Don't you always find the naysayers that are going "Are those women really telling the truth?" When women come forward with any sort of sexual grievance, it's always "Oh, are you sure that happened?" And you know, in the society, so much pressure is put on women to be beautiful. How could you do that? How could you put so much pressure on women (and men!) to be beautiful, to be successful, and then, when they are raped, to say "What were you wearing?" or "How were you portraying yourself?" This is like, we can't win. 

On the importance of being a part of the movement:
Not to take anything away from our politicians who are looking out for our country... some of them. I really hope that anyone watching this today hears that the most important people to change the world is you. I'm not looking to the government to change my life, I'm not looking toward the next president, I'm not looking toward our next world leaders. I'm looking at everyone in this room. I mean, you are culture. So if you care, and if your friend is going to rape someone in your fraternity or sorority, or in your school, or in a work situation, or in an alleyway outside a restaurant, whatever it is that your job is, if you say something and if you are a part of that greater world change, that is more powerful than any single person that's in office.

Lady Gaga was in tears as she accepted the "Woman of the Year" award at Billboard's Women in Music event on Friday.

Gaga was introduced by her mother, Cynthia Germanotta, who recalled that she learned to walk and play the piano at the same time. "Four years later, she was playing by ear," she said, adding that "at the age of six, she wrote her first song -- called Dollar Bills."

"It's really hard sometimes for women in music," It's like a f--king boys club we can't get into. Sorry grandma," Lady Gaga told the audience. "But I tried for so long. I just really wanted to be taken seriously as a musician: for my intelligence, more than my body, in this business. To be here today means I'm recognized for my legacy and my songwriting, which means a lot because you don't always feel when you're working that people believe that you have a musical background and that you understand what you're doing, because you're a female."

She continued: "Women provide a wisdom to music that is very unique and special. That is a perspective that no other person can have because we bear life and we go through things that no one goes through, and more importantly, because it's right and we're all equal."

Gaga ended her emotional speech with a message to those who didn't believe in her: "I couldn't wait to prove you wrong. Because I may not be a lot of things, but I can write songs, and I can sing."

Lady Gaga is up for another prestigious award! Gaga's latest single "Til It Happens to You" has been nominated for Best Song at the 21st annual Critics' Choice Awards. The award show will take place on January 17th in Los Angeles.

Co-written by Gaga and Diane Warren, the track is featured in the documentary The Hunting Ground, which focuses on sexual assault on US college campuses. A powerful PSA video, written and directed by Catherine Hardwicke, was released with the single back in September and since then has reached over 22 million views on YouTube.

Earlier this month, "Til It Happens to You" scored a nomination at the 20th Satellite Awards for Best Original Song and at the 58th Grammy Awards for Best Song Written for Visual Media.

Introduced by her mother Cynthia Germanotta, Lady Gaga accepted the honor as Woman of the Year at Billboard's Women in Music in New York City last week. "I don't think I've ever dreamed of anything more than being a performer. I don't really know why. I'm so sorry. I'm a very emotional person. I think that's what you are as an artist. You have a lot of strength, but you're sort of intrinsically very emotional.

"I never thought anything like this would have ever happened to me or my family. My grandma's here tonight, Angeline. My grandfather made shoes, and my grandma was by his side every day for 60 years. My father was an entrepreneur. My mother was a dancer who didn't make it and then decided to sell telephone lines. So in short, my family was willing to do anything to give my sister and I everything that we had. Music was the single thing that kept me going in my life, my music education, my discipline. It was a warm blanket on my darkest days. Something so powerful for me.

"I have so many people I'd like to thank today. All of the table, Kenny, Bobby, beautiful wife. Taylor. My grandma. My father. Tony. Marty. Jody Gerson, I'm so proud of you, that you're winning this evening. You deserve this so much. Jimmy Iovine. Vincent Herbert. My attorneys. Interscope Records. Universal.

Lady Gaga has had one hell of a year and she took took her Instagram account on New Year's eve to thanks her "fans and loved ones" for it. Mother Monster shared an adorable selfie with her fiancé Taylor Kinney, taken during their holiday trip, along with a sweet note to her followers.

"Thank you to our fans and loved ones who bless us with so much each year," Gaga wrote. "We had a beautiful holiday and are so grateful because it wouldn't have been the same without you in our lives! Happy New Year's Eve."

Gaga and Taylor are spending their winter break at a famous ski resort in Aspen, Colorado.

Lady Gaga is the guest editor of the new issue of V Magazine and for the covers, she collaborated with her fashion guard. Mother Monster put her friends Karl Lagerfeld and Hedi Slimane on the first two covers, while the third features Gaga herself, photographed by Steven Klein in archive Alexander McQueen. Thirteen more covers will be revealed over the next few weeks an "ode to Gaga's Fashion Guard: the photographers, stylists, designers, artists, & personalities driving creative vision forward."

"For this issue I wanted nothing more than to have one story, just one, that my children and the future of fashion would remember forever," Gaga said.

Lady Gaga has revealed the next four out of sixteen covers for V Magazine's Spring Preview issue, which she guest-edited herself. The new covers feature the late legends Alexander McQueen and Isabella Blow, as well as Gaga's friend Daphne Guinness, photographed by Steven Klein.

Speaking of editing the issue, Gaga said: "This issue of V is about all of these people coming together to express a passion for art and fashion, to really 'go there' to make a great statement and to change things. I feel like we all share an appetite for living a life of passion and creativity... it's like we all found our immortality through art and fashion... we share that deep spiritual place."

The Haus of Gaga has teamed up with Intel for a mysterious project that will debut during the Grammy week. The collaboration, that will "showcase technology through creativity at the highest level," was announced during Intel's conference on Tuesday night.

"Intel has enlisted Haus of Gaga to work together on a project that will showcase technology through creativity at the highest level," Gaga commented. "The partnership culminates in a ground-breaking collaboration that inspires to remind the world of the seed of innovation." 

The project will be unveiled at the Next Generation of GRAMMY Moments program that will launch during Grammy week in February. While Gaga will not perform new material as part of the program, she promises to deliver an experience not to be forgotten.

Lady Gaga looked divine in a classic black dress as she joined her fiancé Taylor Kinney at a Beverly Hills launch party for the new movie The Forest, in which he stars. Directed by Jason Zada, The Forest is a supernatural thriller set in Tokyo's legendary Aokigahara forest, which is associated with demons in Japanese mythology and is infamous for being a place where people go to take their life.

"Me and Taylor at his screening for The Forest," Gaga told fans on her Instagram page. "I can't wait for it to come out so you all can see! He is so talented and so is Natalie Dormer!"

Taylor Kinney says he and fiancée Lady Gaga paint together! The actor appeared on The Late Late Show with James Corden to promote his new movie The Forest on Monday night. During the interview, Corden asked Kinney if he was a keen painter, to which he responded by saying he "could turn him onto Bob Ross."

Bob Ross hosted a show on PBS called The Joy of Painting which ran from 1983 to 1994. Each show would feature Ross creating a landscape or seascape painting on canvas from scratch using an oil based technique within the 30 minute program. Ross was known for his signature "fro," as Kinney put it, calming voice and laid back demeanor.

Kinney also revealed that he and Gaga watch Bob Ross' show on DVDs together and have paint-offs.

"Me and my fiancée have a partition, we set up canvases, and then we'll go for maybe the same picture and then we'll start painting and do our whole thing," he said. "And then just talk s--t and make fun of each other when we see the finished result."

Lady Gaga is the guest-editor of sixteen versions of V Magazine's new issue, and for version #10, she collaborated with the cast of American Horror Story: Hotel on an improvised photoshoot with Chadwick Tyler.

For the cover interview, Gaga sat down with none other than James Franco to speak about the show, the past, and, of course, the new album.

"I've been writing a lot for the past year," Gaga said. "[American Horror Story] has really affected my voice, I have to say. I'm using my listening from acting in my music more, which is crucial because it's music. Who knew I could listen even more? It's amazing to even talk about. There's a tremendous freedom and a recklessness, but there's also a sophistication in the show. There's a lot of liberation, but it's a very chic liberation. Here's what I will say: when I wasn't working on the show I was truly miserable because I had no safe house to get out any of my vices. Now I have a safe house for my vices so when I'm making music I just have a lot more clarity. I have a little less of an instinct to be reckless with my music now because I'm reckless in other places."

She continued: "So now I'm thinking more about what it is I want to say and what I want to leave on Earth. It's less an expression of all my pain. There will be some of my pain on the record for sure, but it will be more than that. My last album was riddled with a ton of pain. That whole record. It's almost like you couldn't even get to what it is. Now, the show gives me an outlet to put things somewhere, so when I get to the piano I'm in a deeper place already. I have something completely other to explore.

Congratulations to Taylor Kinney who has won his first People's Choice Award! The actor took home the award for Favorite Dramatic TV Actor for his performance on Chicago Fire at Wednesday's ceremony, which took place in Los Angeles. Taylor thanked the cast and crew of the show, his fans, and, of course, his wife-to-be Lady Gaga.

"My fiancé couldn't be here tonight but she says hello and wishes she could," Kinney told the audience as he accepted the award. "I love you, babe. Thank you for having my back and supporting me. You inspire me every day."

Chicago Fire airs every Tuesday on NBC.

Lady Gaga will be attending the Golden Globes on Sunday to present one of the awards, Billboard reports. Other presenters include Jennifer Lopez, Mark Wahlberg, Jamie Foxx, Amy Adams, Jim Carey, Channing Tatum, Olivia Wilde, Patricia Arquette, Helen Mirren and Julianne Moore.

Not only is Gaga a presenter, she is also a nominee for the "Best Actress in a Limited Series" award for her role as The Countess on American Horror Story: Hotel. 

The 73rd Annual Golden Globe Awards will air live from Beverly Hills on Sunday, January 10th.

Lady Gaga took the stage at the 2016 Consumer Electronics Show party in Las Vegas for a surprise performance on Thursday night. Gaga and the Brian Newman Quartet played an hour-long set of classics such as "Bang Bang," "La Vie En Rose," "New York, New York," and Paul McCartney's "Coquette" in front of a crowd of tech enthusiasts.

"I got a gig at CES singing for a bunch of tech nerds," Gaga joked while on stage.

Lady Gaga and Taylor Kinney go nude for the latest issue of V Magazine, which Gaga guest-edited herself, Yahoo! reports. On cover 14 out of 16, the couple pose wearing nothing but paint for a sexy selfie after "making love on a canvas for peace."

"Since we first met, Taylor’s been drawing and painting all over me," Gaga wrote in her editor's letter. "Years ago, when we were secretly living in San Diego and crashing on the floor of a beach shack, we never wore shoes. He told me he wanted to make love to me on a canvas."

Gaga continued: "I asked Taylor to collaborate with me on a project to raise money and awareness about mental illness, and he immediately brought my attention back to this idea.

"We made love on the canvas on a Sunday in Chicago. We made love amidst chaos. We talked about shootings. We made love amidst terrorism. And we talked about how people’s hearts are also suffering all over the world as they watch and witness a swell of violence. We made love amidst violence. During tumultuous times, we hope everyone in the world will see this and be reminded to love each other wildly, generously, totally, colorfully, without fear and with compassionate hearts. We made a galaxy of endless colors with only brief, black holes of emptiness that are then filled by each other."

All proceeds from the sale of the issue will benefit Lady Gaga's Born This Way Foundation, helping fund "cutting-edge, social-emotional intelligence research."

Lady Gaga's latest single "Til It Happens to You" is this week's top dance track in the United States, according to Billboard. The song climbs 2-1 on Billboard's Dance Club Songs chart, which ranks songs based reports from a national sample of club DJs, becoming the first dance number one of 2016.

This is also Gaga's first number one on the chart since her 2013 hit single "Applause," and her fourteenth overall.

"Til It Happens to You" was written with Diane Warren for The Hunting Ground, a documentary exploring campus sexual assault, and released back in September 2015. The power ballad was later remixed by Tracy Young, Matt Consola and other DJs, becoming a hit at nightclubs across the United States.
