As part of the promo tour for Joanne, Lady Gaga sat down with Howard Stern to discuss the newly-released album, the Super Bowl Halftime show, her starring role in Bradley Cooper's A Star Is Born, her relationship with Taylor Kinney, and much more. After the lengthy interview, Gaga took to the piano to perform a beautiful rendition of her new single "Million Reasons."

Lady Gaga teared up as she explained the meaning behind "Grigio Girls," a track on the deluxe version of her new album Joanne. The song, written in collaboration with country songwriter Hillary Lindsey, is about Sonja Dunham, Gaga's longtime friend and creative director at the Haus of Gaga, who is fighting stage four cancer.

"One of my best friends, Sonja, who has been with me since I was twenty-three years old, she has metastasized cancer in her lungs and in her brain," Gaga told Radio.com. "It's stage four. And it's really hard: it's hard to watch, it's hard to witness, it's hard to know what to say. But I love her so much, and it's so important that we continue to do research to find a cure."

She continued: "I wrote a song about her on the album, and it's about how me and all of our girlfriends would get together and cry without her when she's not around. Because we love her so much and we just want to be strong with her. The lyric is, 'Sisters never pack up, we always run back, love/Seven years ago I said you'd make it Sonja, was Joanne's friend, tough girl's on the mend, so when I'm feeling small, I toss that cork, and call.'"

Gaga added that the song is about "womanhood and sticking together and encouraging one another and teaching each other that it's ok to cry together."

Her advice to anyone battling cancer is to use Sonja's fight as an inspiration.

"I have watched her fight every day, trying to laugh, and go every moment with the biggest smile on her face of hope and faith for the future," she said. "Putting all of your mind, and body, and soul, into a place where you can envision your health and envision as you get stronger that you're killing the cancer with your own power and your own sense of immunity. And just know that you're so not by yourself and there are so many people that love you and I feel connected to you, even though I don't know you, because I know her. I'll be thinking about you."

Lady Gaga performed two new songs from her brand new album Joanne on this week's episode of Saturday Night Live! Lady Gaga refused to talk about Donald Trump in a recent interview with BBC Breakfast's Charlie Stayt. When asked about the US presidential nominee, the visibly frustrated singer responded, "I have nothing to say of him." Gaga, an outspoken Hillary Clinton supporter, has always championed the underdog. While some position Trump as 2016's downtrodden outsider, however, the singer sees right through the controversial candidate.

"I think what is most important is for us to try to decipher now what is real and what is not," she explained. Obviously aware of fear's hand in this political moment, Gaga urges people to operate from a place of honesty. "Some people want to win races," she said before pausing. "Other people want to be president of the United States and change people's lives."

Quick to sniff out Trump's inauthentic intentions, the singer cleverly commented on his recklessness without really saying anything about him at all. We feel you, sis.

Lady Gaga stopped by the Good Morning America studios in Times Square to talk about her newly-released album Joanne, as well as her upcoming performance at the Super Bowl Halftime show, the Dive Bar tour, her recent T Magazine cover, and more.

"Joanne was my father's sister. This album is named after her, as well as my middle name. She died in 1974," Gaga told Michael Strahan. "The tragedy really stayed with our family our whole lives, and I wanted to make a record about family and friendship and togetherness and learning from the past, and that's why we’re here today."

Lady Gaga brought her career full circle as she performed at a New York City dive bar as part of her three-date Dive Bar Tour on Thursday night. Just hours before the release of her brand new album Joanne, the singer-songwriter took the stage at The Bitter End, a bar she sang at when she was known as Stefani Germanotta.

"I've been playing here since I was fifteen years old," Gaga told the excited crowd. "This is where I started and I truly cannot believe that you guys moved the grand piano for me. That has never been moved off this stage before as long as I've known its existence, so thank you."

During her set, Gaga played six songs from Joanne, including the promo singles "Million Reasons" and "A-YO," as well as the never-before-heard "Joanne," "Grigio Girls," and "Just Another Day." Mother Monster was joined on stage by the album's executive producer Mark Ronson and her longtime New York friend Brian Newman.

But just one packed show wasn't enough for Gaga. Shortly after finishing her set inside the bar, she took the performance to the bar roof. "Who knew there was a roof out here?" Gaga told fans who couldn't get in and waited for her outside. "We felt bad that we couldn't fit you all in. I just thought, you know, maybe if I got to sing this song outside that maybe Joanne could hear me up there."

She then delivered an emotional encore performance of "Angel Down," a haunting ballad inspired by Trayvon Martin. "There's so much stuff going on in the world, but we need to remember to stay together, you know? And stick together, and love each other, and care about each other," Gaga said waving her pink hat.

Lady Gaga has announced that she'll be putting out a series of mini-films documenting the making of her brand new album Joanne, out tomorrow. The first installment of the web series dropped today and it shows Gaga, Mark Ronson, and Bloodpop writing and recording "A-YO," the album's new buzz single.

"I loved how we could see the real instruments that they used for it, that definitely made me appreciate the song more," one fan reacted on the Gaga Daily forums, while another added: "The video shows they had so much great time together as a team. I hope there will be one of each track!"

Lady Gaga has been getting likened to Madonna ever since she emerged as a pop star, and now she's had enough of the comparisons. During her interview with Beats 1, Gaga said that while she has plenty of respect for the Queen of Pop, she will not allow people to compare her to anyone, including Madge.

"Madonna and I are very different, just saying," Gaga told Zane Lowe after he attempted to compare her life story to that of Madonna's. "I wouldn't make that comparison at all. I don't mean to disrespect Madonna. She's a nice lady. And she's had a fantastic huge career. She's the biggest pop star of all time."

She continued: "But I play a lot of instruments, I write all my own music. I spend hours and hours a day in the studio, I'm a producer, I'm a writer. What I do is different. I'm not just rehearsing over and over again to put on a show. There's a spontaneity in my work. I allow myself to fail, I allow myself to break, I'm not afraid to of my flaws. There are major differences between me and her. I don't mean that in a disrespectful way, I just will not be compared to anyone anymore. I am who the f**k I am."

"There's no filter, this record goes right for the gut," Gaga said of the album. While "A-YO" is a country-flavored banger, Gaga says she doesn't consider herself a country musician. "I have a general deep respect for all country musicians, but I myself am not a country musician," Gaga told Rolling Stone of her influences on the song. "I'm just a musician period. Lady Gaga is set to release a documentary to accompany her new album Joanne, which drops this Friday. Lady Gaga says she will perform her old hits, as well as new songs from Joanne, at the Super Bowl Halftime Show. Speaking to 104.3 MYFM, Gaga called headlining America's biggest show “a huge honor” and admitted that she just wants to make "a really great performance" by taking viewers through her catalogue of hits.

"It's a massive opportunity and it’s a just a huge honor to be asked to entertain that many people," Gaga said of playing the Halftime Show. "I just want to make a real great performance. I want to take everyone through my catalogue and give them the songs that the know. Some of the hits I've had they might not even know are by me, I'd like to give them those. And then, you know, new music."

Lady Gaga's new song "Million Reasons" is here! Co-penned with country singer-songwriter Hillary Lindsay, the heartfelt tune is the second taste of Gaga's upcoming studio album, due out on October 21st. Gaga performed "Million Reasons" for the first time during the first stop of her Dive Bar Tour in Nashville on Wednesday.

"I bow down to pray / I try to make the worst seem better / Lord, show me the way / To go through all his worn out leather / I've got a hundred million reasons to walk away / But baby, I just need one good one to stay," Gaga sings on the track's chorus.

"This is a song about wanting to give up, but you don't," Gaga told Zach Sang earlier this week. "I was sitting with Hillary Lindsay, I remember we were in my house, I was at the piano and she was sitting behind me. And I was just like 'It's just like all the men in my life, I tell you, they give me a million reasons to take a hike and I just need one good one to stick around. I just need one' and she was like 'That's a song.' And I sat down and I started playing."

Lady Gaga took the stage at Nashville's 5 Spot bar on Wednesday night as part of her three-date dive bar tour, sponsored by Bud Light. Joanne surprised the crowd with a performance of three never-before-heard songs, including "Sinner's Prayer," "A-Yo," and "Million Reasons," as well as the albums's lead single "Perfect Illusion."

"It's very reminiscent of how I got my start," Gaga told People ahead of the performance. "I began singing in dive bars and really small clubs. I dragged my piano down the stairs, and I went down the street with my keyboard and I would go to every different dive bar that I could get to agree to let me play. I'd call and pretend I was Lady Gaga's manager."
