  5. Freddi: I don’t why I’m getting emotional writing this?! I guess if you know the ARTPOP era you just know. But celebrating one’s own freedom to artistically express oneself was a profound revelation for me during this time creating all these hairstyles. I would not be the artist that I am without you @ladygaga you created a very personal masterpiece that stood the test of time. I love you so much! And thank you @inezandvinoodh for these now iconic images and videos. This era really pushed me boundlessly! It was a true masterclass of self expression and a performance art piece! Thank you to every single monster who has always shown their love and devotion to this era and the stories I’ve heard of the many of you whom also share these similarities. Here’s to celebrating 10 years of my #ARTPOP could mean anything! Love, F. šŸ’™šŸ”µ https://www.instagram.com/reel/Czg_-EdvfVX/?hl=en A second post by Freddie: https://www.instagram.com/reel/Czh7EhgrWyY/?igshid=MXB3bnhtbGxzN2Vvbg== Sarah: I feel like being vulnerable. I sat down to work on some Haus Labs at my vanity and felt a creative block. I remembered seeing @fredericaspiras post about #ARTPOP celebrating the anniversary, which prompted me to look through all my old photos. I couldn’t help but get emotional. Towards the end of ARTPOP I became Lady Gaga’s full-time makeup artist, which of course changed my whole life. Till then I had been working with her dancers on tour, and hustling in NYC in between legs of the World Tour. I looked at some of our first work together and saw such freedom in my artistry. I was never worried about who liked it or what people would say. Gaga always believed in me, and pushed me to put my artistry out there with confidence, and to trust my instincts. To have a friend and a muse who supports artists, ALL ARTISTS the way she does is unmatched. Today I look at how far I have come, and how far Gaga, Frederic and I have come together. To sit here in front of my mirror getting the opportunity to work on her makeup line @hauslabs together is a real moment of self reflection and tremendous gratitude. I’m always very hard on myself and don’t give myself any credit. Today I think this is exactly what I needed. 10 beautiful years filled lots of love, eyeliner, and inspiration; enough for a lifetime. Thank you Gaga, and my Haus of Gaga family for always being just that; my chosen family. #ARTPOP #LADYGAGA https://www.instagram.com/p/CzhhFQLvDnk/?hl=en&img_index=1

  7. You can criticize me if I seem a bit too harsh, but... I just don't think this is fair... Feeling really, really sad and disappointed with her. I understand this time of her life had been one of her most challenging... But how come all you posted about your fourth studio album's anniversary was a promotion of lackluster merchandise? how come many people involved in the creation of the album and era said something but Gaga herself...? I'm aware Gaga doesn't owe us anything, nor she's obligated to accomplish our expectations, but what her management did yesterday feels so dirty and bad. I wasn't expecting her to give ARTPOP the same treatment as BTW (thank God)... but the fact they simply seem indifferent about it, knowing how impactful this album has become, is... sad y'all, really sad

  9. She was already close to being cancelled by the GP anyway but imagine if the DWUW & MANiCURE videos were to have been released...... they would have ended her. She would not be where she's at today if those final and career saving decisions were not to have been made. Let's celebrate what we got and move on.

  10. The thing is, there's always something going on politically. Whether its the George Floyd murder, BLM protests, COVID, the war. Meanwhile other artists are carrying on like normal. Art is the ultimate distraction and escape during hard times.

  11. Lastly I just need to say thank you! It was really fun seeing how Gagadaily feels about this especially divisive album ten years on, & to get over 150 votes was amazing – this has been one of Gagadaily’s biggest megarates EVER! Special thanks to the people who left comments – they’re a brilliant historical record of how GGD felt about ARTPOP in 2023, & I’ll post the FULL version of everyone’s comments as my next post. & a massive thanks to Madeon for contributing a special message! I hope you’ve enjoyed taking this trip down memory lane with me. & if you were here for the ceremony, thanks for sticking around! Until the next time! Cruelty

  14. Strongly disagree. Antics like that people ate up at that time. Just look at Miley taking the spotlight for the ā€œwildā€ image. I don’t think it would have ruined her career in the slightest - definitely would have given it a potentially different trajectory, but I don’t think it would have been for better or worse.

  16. I thought she might be going through something hard like a family death, and would explain why she didn’t wish ARTPOP a 10th birthday. I guess she’s really moved on. Okay. Message received.

  17. she actually reminds me of those friends who only message you when need something from you

  18. We also didn’t need to see her spend 13 episodes of a series slitting people’s throats, drinking blood and ****ing every ten minutes like a rabbit but that happened and didn’t ruin her career. idk why we’re all of the sudden acting like her being X rated would’ve / has ruined her career

  19. I know I know, this is still an open wound for many and while I still feel like her Team (not her) could've done more - they're clearly focusing on other things. If the past few years taught us anything is that Gaga is never sitting still. There is always a song to be written, a movie to act in, a LipLacquer Color to be released. With Burns liking a Tweet about being in the Studio with Gaga last month, her being ominously silent - I'm sure she's just in Album Mode for LG7. So let's celebrate ARTPOP this weekend as Monsters, think about how insane the Promo run was for that Album and look forward to how Gaga will surprise us next.

  28. Im sorry to break this to some people but the truth is you dont know this person. I understand many of us grew up lonely and found something in how Gaga spoke to us but people change. You change. its okay to be disillusioned from being a fanatic, and i think its healthy. Dont expect your happiness to come from a person you dont even know. Find a hobby or something else that brings you happiness and just appreciate when pop artists release something and it vibes with you. let yourself grow as well. You cant force her to be a certain way or anyone in the industry or real life. Gaga is not your friend, you don’t know how she is in real life. Maybe you would spend time with her and found aspects you would despise and thats okay. Parasocial relationships are scary, dont let media and social media consume your mind so much. the world is ****ed up, truth is gaga represents something for most of you that allow you to connect with an older self and reality where things seemed easier, truth is reality is not easy and the world is scary. We have to accept and find other channels to feel better. let it go, let ARTPOP 2 go, out with the old & in with the new.

  29. This exactly. Bangerz was peak and if Gaga played her cards AP would have been even more successful than the BTW era bc one thing Gaga used to do quite well was play into risks and make it work for her. Instead her and her team decided to tame it down so hard that AP kinda fell into an uncontrollable sinkhole. It really was her playing it safe with something so bold that eventually broke the camel's back.

  30. 1 APPLAUSE – average 9.06 The highs: 11 x 19 [ @KubaM316 @TortureMeOnReplay @tofueism @sexy @AnnTakamaki @artdoll @ChrisGaga @27monster27 @not a member @TwistedTeeth @GrandeAvenue @Ioa99 @monstertoronto @Lady Gaga 2009 @Smother Em Eh @Cruelty @Gorehound @Aglaya @Sarah H] The lows: 4 x 1 [ @marrytheminogue] In the end, what else could have been our winner? Receiving 19 elevens & a monumental 57 tens (more than anything else in the rate), ARTPOP’s anthemic lead single lands as your favourite track from the album. A propulsive slice of party-ready electropop, ā€˜Applause’ describes the thrill Gaga feels from the adoration of her fans. Gaga described the track as ā€œfull of happinessā€, & the song certainly delivers a palpable euphoria as she commands ā€œgive me that thing that I love / Put your hands, make ā€˜em touchā€. I actually think there’s something slightly disingenuous about ā€˜Applause’. In attempting to embody the experience of being in a room with 15,000 fans chanting your name, Gaga only tells half the story. It’s impossible to separate that experience from the thousands of dollars you’re earning at the same time, & the thousands of critics that helped you get there – in much the same way that there’s an unfortunate double standard in professing to live for the ā€œmusic not the blingā€ on the title track of an album with a $20 million budget. But do you know what? Ultimately, it doesn’t matter. Above all, ā€˜Applause’ is a monumental pop song. It epitomises the quintessential Gaga spirit of being slightly off-kilter, & yet irresistibly catchy at the same time. Released a little prematurely in August 2013, the track went on to score top 10 peaks in twenty countries, & is now certified 4x Platinum in the US. Put your hands up for ā€˜Applause’, your ARTPOP tenth anniversary champion! Comments:

  31. Before we go any further, it’s time for a little surprise… A few months ago when I was working on this rate, I decided to get in contact with some of the figures involved in making ARTPOP, to see if they had any treasured memories to share from the making of the album. To my surprise & delight, I got a reply! So here is ARTPOP producer Madeon’s exclusive message for Gagadaily!

  33. Gaga has every right to not acknowledge ARTPOP. The problem I have is the cheap and tacky merch for the 10th anniversary that is a complete rip off. There's no thought or soul put into it, literally just a cash grab trying to milk the fanbase. Gaga has to be signing off on this which makes me sad. The nurtec migraine advert is still wild to me and the backlash post annoucing CBT was 17th June.

  34. I honestly think you have a point tbh. Yes, the GP was already ā€œused toā€ Gaga doing outlandish and shocking things. But, she was already pushing herself in a very volatile corner. After the church turned on her fully with Judas, it was a public pushback. Gaga was allowed to be controversial up til then, but they generally were finding it to be too far in a lot of ways especially since she was so controversial while being so overexposed that she was really falling out of the GP’s favor. With ARTPOP, it was a good reset point where she could come back as the Gaga they understood, but she was trying to really do some extreeemely controversial concepts with ARTPOP and they would have absolutely turned on her for good in my opinion. Miley struggled to fall back into their favor after Bagerz and it really wasn’t even that wild of a concept. If Gaga had pushed too far with concepts like assault & self-harm in very literal and admittedly disturbing ways as she intended, especially on top of how not-ready the public was for ARTPOP at its current state, it would have been 100% over

  37. I respectfully disagree with your decision of closing some threads where users were discussing their feelings in a civilized way. "What fiasco? I promise you nobody outside stan Twitter and this forum cares about the whole ARTPOP thing." That is true, it only affects hardcore fans. But that amounts to saying that we "Little Monsters" do not matter - that our opinions and feelings do not matter, and that we are not allowed to express them.
