  1. https://youtu.be/vAVgwA9Gx1A?si=Dnuyhu7NyBlsx-ZC Lady Gaga gave a very tearful rendition of "Dope" on November 3rd 2013 at the YouTube Music Awards. At the time it was assumed that it was just a sad song for her, but in reality it was because Troy left her. He told all media that she left him over creative differences, but it wouldn't be until a late 2014 interview that Lady Gaga revealed that the opposite happened. This opened a rabbit hole for fans in which it was found out that Troy Carter had allegedly done multiple bad things in his time as her manager and even after. From accusations of sabatoging her 2012 Grammy nominations to even making it harder to access her music on Spotify in 2018 when he got a major role in the platform, many realized that the split was for the better. Lady Gaga has since recovered her success without him at the helm. ---- If you ever see this Troy, know that we have not forgotten your horrible actions and never will. You (along with others on her team) caused her so much hate in 2013-2014. From interviews it would not surprise me one bit if you had allegedly created multiple workman's comp violations in your time as her manager. She became very successful once more without you. Remember that.

  12. Mariah Carey has been sued over alleged copyright infringement with her perennial festive hit All I Want For Christmas Is You. It is the second lawsuit she has faced from songwriter Andy Stone – who performed under the name Vince Vance – who filed then withdrew a similar claim in 2022. Stone released a similarly lovelorn song of the same name in 1989 with his group Vince Vance & the Valiants, reaching No 52 in the US country singles chart in 1994 after receiving extensive radio play during Christmas 1993. Carey’s song was recorded and released in 1994. Stone’s lawsuit claims: “The phrase ‘all I want for Christmas is you’ may seem like a common parlance today, in 1988 it was, in context, distinctive […] Moreover, the combination of the specific chord progression in the melody paired with the verbatim hook was a greater than 50% clone of [Stone’s] original work, in both lyric choice and chord expressions.”

  14. I think the song is beautiful but not nearly as close to what they're claiming it is to Mariah's version Off topic but the video is nice and she's definitely serving in some parts, but the addition of the beehive hairdo elf is pretty jarring and I just can't believe that was allowed

  20. Also, a lil bit of addition, but also the recent hate it gets on social media is the most baffling thing I've ever seen with the most baffling takes ever as well. If it was promoted well w/o the darn pandemic, fans would be putting it on a pedestal. I'm serious. Yes, fans can't really separate the music from the era itself and that's okay, because promotion, live performances, etc. are part of the experience but it's just sad how most of those fans don't even try to appreciate the music they got and would just run it over and **** on it without any second thought when their expectations for the era wasn't fully realized.

  23. - 1000 Doves album version >>>>>> piano version. - Babylon was always superior to the demo. - 911 is her best music video since the BTW era. - Stupid Love is a cute pop song, but it feels so out place on the album. - Now that time has passed, I don't think they had a big campaing ready for the album. - While I do love the album, I really think that if Boys Noize and Sophie ended up being more involved, we could've got Gaga's most experimental and sonically exciting album, but they played it very safe (but I don't think this is an unpopular opinion lmao).

  30. (Not all unpopular but), - The production is her best and freshest, but musically it’s very bland a lot of the time. It lacks fully realised melodies, backing vocals and the intricate imaginative details Gaga usually does. - You can tell that Gaga lacked interest and inspiration on this album in a lot of places. She allowed the producers to take over and they didn’t quite do her aesthetic justice. - Free Woman could’ve been a great song, but you can tell no one had any idea what to do with it. It’s structure and execution is lazy and half-baked. - 991 is one of the albums highlights but the chorus is weak and the final chorus falls flat. It needs a more climatic chorus like Judas - Stupid Love is Gaga at her gayest, but it’s also painfully cheesy and just not ‘good music’ - Alice is great but the Alice in Wonderland aesthetic is very cliche and tired. - 911 is the only good music video. The other two are cheap and tacky. - Love the album art, but cyberpunk has so been done. - It’s super safe. There’s nothing dangerous or daring. - The weakest bridges of her discography. - It’s a too bit self-pitying. Gaga likes to wallow in her own misery a lot without any nuance or real resolution. (It's the same with Dope. She touches on an extremely deep topic about drug addiction on an album about pop culture, and could've explored the countless dark tragic examples of it throughout art and pop culture (Amy, Picasso, Cobain, the 27 club etc, the need to take drugs for inspiration, to cope etc.) but instead just wines that she feels miserable). - The breakbeat breakdown at the end of Sine From Above is one of the very few interesting things that happen on this album. (Still love the album regardless and I'm very grateful for Bloodpop, but I like to nitpick it to)

  31. Fun Tonight deserves more love. Replay is a grower. It was one of my least favorite songs when the album came out. I love it now of course. 911 could've been an interesting lead single. I wish she had gone for 911 -> Rain On Me -> Babylon -> Sour Candy -> Alice with music videos for all of them. Maybe even Enigma and/or Replay. Free Woman demo is not even that good. Chromatica could've worked as a double album with Volume 2 focusing on 90s techno, a little darker sound.

  34. i think its a mixture of best and worst things of her worst: i always have a feelin that its her least creative/personal album? like its cool but its the less "gaga" album besides the song replay and free woman bests: free woman (demo) and replay. the album cover its her best. maybe tfm and btw are iconic but for quality chromatic its her best.

  37. They really think they're sneaky too. They usually hide the prejudice behind dogwhistles in other threads and clutch their pearls when they get called out.... but then threads like this pop up and all their true colors are on full display. The racism (and misogyny) on this site is a cancer.

  38. I'm so disappointed in some of the comments in this thread, but I'm not surprised. You can't convince me that the treatment Rachel is getting is not completely overblown and misogynistic. IT IS. I can't believe some of you are falling for it. I won't belabor the point because I shouldn't have to, and you all should know better, but as just one example: Robert Pattinson FOR YEARS shaded Twilight during promotion and during filming. And never did he get even a fraction of the hate Rachel is getting. The film does look awful though. That isn't Rachel's fault. Some people seem to be implying she has any kind of creative control which she doesn't. Delusional. They should have had live action people play the dwarves. ALSO, the original film IS creepy and supports ideas we now know are problematic! Get over it. She said it and it's true. That doesn't mean you can't still enjoy the original, but the whole point of a remake is to have a new take on it. If you want to watch the original film, watch the original film and let people who want to try to enjoy something new enjoy something new.
