Just few months ago around this time, we were doing the same. Rallying Bloody Mary to get the #1 on BB100, thinking it will be a justice to BTW album. To no avail, cos not many of the fanbase supporting the movements. It's easy to be bitter, and harder to rise above that. So let's not be hypocrites, besides, it's Swifties very strong love to TS that get this song to #1. And shows TS is still pretty much an ambitious musician 10 years in, it's been awhile since..., well, Madonna, who keep the fire lit in her even after awhile bing in the industry. For that alone, we need to at least give her some well deserved respect. So if it is a gift, it's a gift from them to her and her to them. They are very dedicated fanbase, probably something to learn the next time Gaga putting out a record, instead of putting on the critical hat, and "I'm above you" attitude, start putting out the time and the coins for her.9 points

“Cruel Summer” ascends to the summit on Billboard Hot 100, from No. 9, becoming Taylor Swift’s 10th leader. The song, which previously peaked at No. 3, was originally released on Swift’s 2019 Republic Records album Lover before being promoted as a single and gaining new prominence as the superstar has performed it on her The Eras Tour this year. Helping spark the song’s Hot 100 coronation, new mixes were released during the latest tracking week, which also began with the Oct. 13 wide release of the concert film Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour. “Cruel Summer” drew 77.8 million radio airplay audience impressions (up 2%) and 18.6 million streams (up 35%) and sold 41,000 downloads (up 1,482%) in the Oct. 13-19 tracking week. Helping spur the latest surges for “Cruel Summer,” new mixes arrived Oct. 18: a live version, recorded in Los Angeles during The Eras Tour, and an LP Giobbi remix. The song completes the fifth-longest trip to No. 1 on the Hot 100 in terms of time from a debut to scaling the summit. ”Cruel Summer” debuted, at No. 29, on the Hot 100 dated Sept. 7, 2019. The song fell to No. 71 on the Hot 100 the following week before re-entering, at No. 49, this June; in July, it hit the top 10 and stands as one of Swift’s 42 career top 10s. Most Time to No. 1 on Hot 100, from Chart Debut: • 19 years, 11 months, 2 weeks, “All I Want for Christmas Is You,” Mariah Carey (2000-19; originally released in 1994, the carol ultimately first led 25 years after its release) • 6 years, 2 months, 3 weeks, “Die for You,” The Weeknd & Ariana Grande (2016-23) • 5 years, 8 months, 2 weeks, “When I’m With You,” Sheriff (1983-89) • 4 years, 8 months, 2 weeks, “Red Red Wine,” UB40 (1984-88; the pop/reggae classic and Sheriff’s love song above were renewed, in part, by adventurous radio exec Guy Zapoleon) • 4 years, 1 month, 3 weeks, “Cruel Summer,” Taylor Swift (2019-23) Most Billboard Hot 100 No. 1s: 20, The Beatles 19, Mariah Carey 14, Rihanna 13, Drake 13, Michael Jackson 12, Madonna 12, The Supremes 11, Whitney Houston 10, Janet Jackson 10, Taylor Swift 10, Stevie Wonder Here’s a recap of Swift’s 10 Hot 100 No. 1s: • “Cruel Summer,” one week at No. 1 to-date, Oct. 28, 2023 • “Anti-Hero,” eight weeks, beginning Nov. 5, 2022 • “All Too Well (Taylor’s Version),” one week, Nov. 27, 2021 • “Willow,” one week, Dec. 26, 2020 • “Cardigan,” one week, Aug. 8, 2020 • “Look What You Made Me Do,” three weeks, beginning Sept. 16, 2017 • “Bad Blood,” feat. you can have ur opinion but you can't manipulate tour demand in the same way as singles or even albums. @MessyTop gave a pretty clear and comprehensive view of her tour which is most likely going to be the highest grossing ever. She has had unprecedented demand for basically everything she has touched in the last year, that demand can't really be fabricated in the same way sales can, she is driving massive influxes of people to whatever she says. To me that is organic and nobody in 2023 is touching her level of success. We bask in her success because 1. we support her 2. we like her music 3. we had a part in said success (however small it may be). It is the same for any artist on the planet and I am sure you do the same for artists you enjoy and support. You can voice your opinion but when you are in a Taylor Swift thread about her success there are pretty obviously going to be people who are also swifties in that thread. There is room for discussion of course but it seems like Taylor Swift being successful and existing is aggravating to you so potentially this isn't the place for you, at the end of the day I just want a place to talk about things with people who have common interests in peace. It may be more enjoyable for you to create a thread encouraging talk about Gaga rather than arguing with swifties, but idk7 points

real hits that’s a pretty unfortunate way to look at it tbh. Cruel Summer and All Too Well absolutely were hits and moments and essentially corrected history by going #1. And Anti-Hero? smash7 points

La Toya Jackson has broken her silence on Harry Styles being labelled the 'new King of Pop' on the cover of Rolling Stone UK last year. La Toya is the older sister of the legendary Michael Jackson who is widely considered the original King of Pop, with his estate trademarking the title. Speaking with KIIS FM's she insisted no one 'can ever top' her brother and take the crown. 'You know, [Harry is] a great entertainer. He's wonderful. I truly believe that,' she said. 'I'm not being biased, but I think that my brother is the greatest of all time and he always will be.' She continued: 'He was incredible and I don't think anyone can ever top him. I would love to meet the person that could do that.' Nevertheless, La Toya insisted she does 'love' Harry and believes he's a great performer in his own right. source6 points

And this is the real issue a lot of GGD has with “Taylor”. It has nothing to do with the woman herself (a woman who’s never said a bad word against Gaga mind you), and everything to do with Little Monsters not being able to tolerate their grown, nearly 40 year old fave who has absolutely nothing left to prove and has ascended to every peak imaginable to anyone and doesn’t give a flying **** who drags her getting some shade on Twitter. Hating an artist for every breath they take simply because some of their fans (and I say SOME because as evidenced by the screams and cheers Applause gets at the Eras Tour, most Swifties also like Gaga) simply out of being defensive over someone who doesn’t need defending because of some shady comments online they’ll never see is a little insane.5 points

I would consider Cruel Summer an organic #1. It was already leading in early predictions and the remixes just widened that lead. It has solid radio support and streaming numbers. You’re acting as if the song was gonna be #10 but then the remixes came and shot it straight to #1. No, the movie brought it a lot of attention and then her team was smart enough to ensure that #1, like a lot of artists do.5 points

Like not even just stardom. The talent he had… like what boundaries are there even left to break? Our faves can still be legends without surpassing him like it’s fine4 points

as long as the account isn't spreading misinformation and preying on people with body image issues like a lot of internet "health gurus" do, then what's the problem?4 points

Lol. Artificial success!!!! In what world? have you seen the news? There’s nothing artificial, people love her and her music. https://amp.cnn.com/cnn/2023/08/17/business/taylor-swift-eras-tour-two-billion/index.html Listen we get it, you don’t like Taylor, just stay away from the Taylor threads. Is that easy, why waste time on a thread on something you clearly don’t like. Is not that deep. Let us fans rejoice on her success.4 points
