Honestly this song had so much potential but was ruined by *him* being on it. If it was released as a solo to begin with, I think it really could’ve been a mainstay in her career tbh. That intro where the bass line (is that what it is?) comes in is just so iconic and unmistakable, justice for DWUW (without R K*lly)

Babylon is a really well-written track! It's too bad a very vocal minority of the fanbase was strung up on a mediocre demo and didn't have a chance to really appreciate its greatness! Deserved to be one of her signature songs!

This doesn't refer to Michael but Mark Polansky (NASA astronaut). Michael's parents are called Steven and Ellen but I don't know much more about them or their origin. And he has a brother and half-sister.

Thing is, I think we as a fanbase need to accept that she didn’t need to check, she knew. This wasn’t a secret in 2013. It was well known public knowledge. We had the Aaliyah marriage, that sex tape, and loud and credible SA allegations. Nobody involved including Gaga was unaware. Unfortunately, there was most definitely a reason R. Kelly was the one picked to do this song. It was a lapse in judgement and she’s walked the walk of being a good activist for SA in the years since. But we really have to stop giving her the benefit of “maybe she didn’t know/didn’t check” when she knew the whole time.
