Would Applause have been #1

if released during some other week of the year?  Just curious.  I don't know where to find the weekly numbers for all the hot 100 hits this year.

The funny part is if it had been, nobody would be complaining about performance even though all other numbers would be exactly the same.  It'd be like "woohoo, #1" even if it was during a weak period.

I think it would have been #1 on iTunes if there would have been no leak.

It'd have been #1 on iTunes if there was no Katy Perry.

well thats kindof the point of the thread.  I'm more interesting in Billboard Hot 100 though.

The song was released in the middle of the summer, which is when other club-like songs were in their prime. If it had been released maybe around June, it could of had more room to breathe (aka get to number 1).

Also the fact that miss radio-friendly Katy came along.

Applause would have debuted at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 if it wouldnt have been leaked!!

Imagine the massive sales on the first day + the streaming and airplay!!

#1 for sure

With a normal release (song plus video as planned), it could have easily been been #3.

Most weeks, to could have made #2. Against weak competition, maybe #1.

Blurred Lines and Roar where exceptionally powerful at that point.

OH MY GOD. Can you guys stop with this kind of thread it is so annoying.

A) It's in the charts section

B) I don't give a **** about charts, but I'm curious on the eb and flow of the pop hits sales over the course of the year

C) The other point is to make a point that a bunch of superficial fans would not now be b---hing about Applause if it had hit #1 in a weak period, even if nothing else about it changed.  Point being that those numbers are relative and meaningless.
