Who is Jackie Evancho?

 

1. She finished in 2nd place (at age 10) in America's Got Talent in 2010.

2. She's the youngest solo artist ever to have a platinum album. Previous holders of this record include Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson & Little Anthony.

3. She's sold ~3 million albums total. She was Billboard's #1 classical albums artist in 2011 & #2 in 2012 (2nd to Andrea Bocelli).

4. She's the youngest solo vocalist ever to sing at Lincoln Center in NY.

5. She has sung for President Obama (twice) & the Japanese royal family. She has sung all over the US; & in Canada, Great Britain, Russia & Taiwan. Her concert tickets are in high demand.

6. She's sung on numerous TV shows, from Leno to Today to The Talk to The View (etc).

She loves LGG & talks about her a lot. The music she sings is very different from what she listens to. She loves driving bass lines. Some of her fans want her to try to merge what she likes the most with what she sings.

 

Her fans think she has the most beautiful voice in the history of recorded music. Some of her singing skills are simply amazing, absolutely preternatural. But that's not really what she's good at, that's not her strength. What she's good at is making people cry. It's incredible that someone so young can put so much emotion into her singing, but she does. Just read some of the comments about her all over the web. Some singers make people cry when they sing sad songs. Jackie makes people cry when she sings about a tree (Ombra Mai Fu) - in Latin!
