bowlcutchris 206
Y’all listening to a maga minaj stan that pays for a twitter check in 2026? That’s a choice. 1
ShinyGaga 91
If Beyonce can make a great country album better than most so called country artists who listen to country on daily basis, then the problem is them. anton 211
Whatever. You don't tell a black lady what genre she can or cannot play. Black people are at the root of all modern music.

Helxig 45,883
Okay so when she was young she didn't listen to country music? 20+ years ago? Of course she didn't. I wouldn't be surprised if she revoked the genre entirely. At the time she was growing up country music was solely racist, asshole white people singing about ****ing their backwoods trad wives, shooting guns and riding in their trucks She's obviously grown and learned the real history of country music since this interview. People are so weird man. Noone has any critical thinking. It's like everyone perceives everything on the internet as existing and happened right NOW Making a country album as a black woman was always a statement. And it's a powerful one too. Showing that black Americans have gone from slaves to superstars. Reclaiming the music from the hands of the white people who stole it. Using her superstardom to open the genre up to other people. Helping to make the genre more inclusive for the future Edited August 19 by Helxig I'll be myself until they fūcking close the coffin. 3
JohnnyVersace 9,314
Kind of the point of CC tbh, and even Daddy Issues. Country is more than genre, it's culture.

ladyabramovic 734
I love Beyonce and her artistry but y'all need to remember that she's a brand and has many, many people involved. So when she set out to do Cowboy Carter, it's a perfectly polished and highly intentional project with a lot of references. Her brand over the last decade or so has been on reclaiming black culture and using black culture as a focal point for her projects. Nothing wrong with it - she doesn't need to actively listen to country music in order to reference it. Also this interview is OLD - guess what, she and her team probably started researching more country music in the culmination and genesis of Cowboy Carter. Just because she didn't listen to country music back then doesn't mean she hasn't recently. The statement "ALWAYS BEEN COUNTRY" is not referring to herself. Stop taking things so literally! It's a blanket marketing strategy. Everything is marketing with high-profile stars. Everything. Every word is intentional and ultimately driven to ramp up sales. It's the truth. This is a clickbait post and title intended to undermine Beyonce and her team which is kind of icky. Edited August 19 by popkulture 1
JohnnyVersace 9,314
Also don't even get me started on the authenticity of Joanne if we're holding Bey's feet to the flames over a 15 year old interview

Kayioshka 3,614
Just because she never listened a genre she cannot be creative and discover it then do synthesis of how she interpret this music ? It’s utterly absurd to put shame on her for this... God, boring people... Probably under substances... An alchemist is born !
