I mean she’s not wrong. Is she chasing trends musically based on what we heard so far? Not sure. But making a sequel to a classic from 20 years ago and basing its whole promo on it. For sure. No one will convince me her decision to make COTDF 2 came from an artistic place. She’s relying on nostalgia because musically there’s not much to offer.

I mean she’s not totally wrong here, in saying that, i don’t hear any Charli XCX in anything coming from the new album….

She might penned it. But that doesn't count as her hits, somebody else is singing it. People usually attach a hit song to the performer rather than the songwriter because performers are the public-facing identity of the music. She is still mostly known as the Whats up! singer.

I feel so free sounded pretty unique to me. A song, mood, emotion, vibe, a feeling only Madonna could have done.

This. Trancey house pop is on gay radio stations but definitely not a "trend".

If she were chasing trends she would basically be making brat 2.0

When it’s the bulk of your work as a musician, it absolutely counts lmao

In what world would you say a musician who wrote multiple hit songs doesn’t have hit songs under their belt?

Find me anyone who would refer a hit song by their song writers first than the singer, I'll wait :sis:

Even Whitney Houston are referred to first when it comes to I Will Always Love You, even though Dolly Parton written and sing it first.

But you wouldn’t remove I Will Always Love You from Dolly Parton’s résumé.

No of course not, however song writers are only the background, albeit crucial, player in the game.  When someone refer to someone hit, they will be addressing the singer first. It's the singer's hit.

Writing hits is not equal than singing it, being the face of it.

well she didn't lie but also using effects and stuff can be really cool, like how gaga used them at Mayhem requiem, and as long as its done with artistic intent then that should also be respected

but Madonna has always tried to follow trends post Gaga, maybe she feels beaten idk but yeah, thats probs why she also became bitter
